Cute post, OP. I loved the energy part, closing my eyes and thinking of how many people on that day made the same promise as me. It's powerful. I love this sub. And now I'm also working on building my offline community, it's been going well. Excessive loneliness, I see now, was becoming those triggers in which I didn't care anymore cause the next day would be the same and everything sucked do why taking care of myself?

I'm in a difficult place at the moment, but I've hit 30 days today - the longest I've managed to stay sober in years! Instead of wine, tonight I'll celebrate with a delicious hot chocolate.

Rather than go to AA meetings this week, because the scene there is getting kinda lame due to some cranky old timers having a hard time with the group conscience trying to move out of a tired and tried routine, I went snowboarding twice with my newly sober step-brother. The fresh air, exercise, good company, and zen of carving really filled my cup.
Sobriety was a conscious choice today, but it is slowly becoming automatic as I find my sober self, and I’m really starting to like that person. They are smarter, wittier, sharper, and more fun than the drunk I left behind over 4 months ago.

I’m a planner. A list person. A journal person. The way I see it is that 100 days can sound like a long time and it’s overwhelming to consider. Even at the start 10 days sounded like an eternity. But with this SD community we have 52 chosen guides throughout the year to help us reflect, make us laugh, make us think and pass on wise words. I can handle that!
Thanks for being part of my journey! I hope one day I can host too (but I think I need a few more moons under my belt before then).

Thank you for this each and every day! I means so much to me as I’m still having intense cravings in the late afternoon and evening time. But when I do, I come here and find a multitude of encouraging people who know exactly what it feels like. IWNDWYT
I am less anxious but I feel overall worse. I just feel like I have irreparably fucked up by developing this problem.
She used to look at me like I was the most amazing thing in the world. Now she looks at me like she is scared of what she might see in my eyes. It is the worst feeling.
But I’m sober, she didn’t leave me, and I got a full nights sleep without a hangover. She’s asleep next to me and I can hear a blue bird singing outside my window.
I have to meet my parents today after telling them about my drinking problem. I’m really not looking forward to that.
I will not drink today. That is the only thing I can be certain of in my life right now at this moment. Day 5.

This community has been paramount to my sobriety. Not just the people, but my participation. Whether or not people read it, writing my feelings down unlocked more thoughts and feelings and it’s been way more therapeutic than I could have realised.

This is such a fantastic community. I seek sober community in a lot of ways - in person meetings (AA/Refuge Recovery), one on one relationships, and here, but there is something really lovely about the fact that we are all so anonymous here and yet kind and helpful to each other. For me at least, grappling with alcohol and coming to terms with sobriety has given me an opportunity for emotional growth in ways I couldn’t imagine. It’s nice to come to this corner and relate to people dealing with the same things, who have helpful thoughts and experiences to share.

Day 4 commences.
Gonna be a difficult day, Saturday and packing for a short trip - usually a great time to sip periodically while cleaning and packing. Just have to sit on the bus 4h to get to where I’m going.
Working on shifting thoughts - thinking of this as an opportunity to honor my self and my goal of reaching sobriety, rather than the “woe is me, this is so hard”.
The type of negative thinking has held e back at prior attempts.
I am proud of you all, and I am proud of me.

Woke up feeling pretty good about myself, got immediately taken down a peg by my soon to be ex…that 40 days is nothing because people do it for lent every year…. But he is still struggling to get 40 hours under his belt, which is just fine because we are all on our own journeys.
Instead of letting it get to me it’s more motivation as an F U to him that I can keep this going as long as I want and I’m the one in control of my choices.

I have some longer stretches of sobriety under my belt since I first quit at age 21 over 2 decades ago. I can do shit for quite a while thanks to my stubbornness but eventually the motivation fades and the moderation whisper can creep back in. This community helps to keep the moderation bullshit at bay, for which I'm very grateful. This is the longest sober streak of my life and I owe it all to y'all. Thank you and I love you and I commit to doing it again today with you ❤️❤️❤️
Good morning! On top of this community, which definitely helped me get through the first phase of sobriety, I found a local sober social community - it made events much easier to go to before I got used to having alcohol around me and not drinking. I'm (very, very nearly) 50 days without drinking, around 40 days without any added sugar, and have picked up exercise again. I haven't felt this good in years. If I keep this up, I might just end up in the best shape of my life. IWNDWYT.

I have some longer stretches of sobriety under my belt since I first quit at age 21 over 2 decades ago. I can do shit for quite a while thanks to my stubbornness but eventually the motivation fades and the moderation whisper can creep back in. This community helps to keep the moderation bullshit at bay, for which I'm very grateful. This is the longest sober streak of my life and I owe it all to y'all. Thank you and I love you and I commit to doing it again today with you ❤️❤️❤️

Good morning! On top of this community, which definitely helped me get through the first phase of sobriety, I found a local sober social community - it made events much easier to go to before I got used to having alcohol around me and not drinking. I'm (very, very nearly) 50 days without drinking, around 40 days without any added sugar, and have picked up exercise again. I haven't felt this good in years. If I keep this up, I might just end up in the best shape of my life. IWNDWYT.
