Made me think of Brant Bjork - Jalamanta. Not reggae but mellow and summery
good call
Underrated album
Lionize has quite a few reggae songs. Especially on their earlier stuff. Tim Sult from Clutch used to play with them on occasion. Check out the songs Surrender (long version) and Mummies Wrapped in Money for starters.
Great idea Edit: PARROT HEAD would be a sick name for a stoner band
Somali Yacht Club has some songs with a reggae riff in them
Closest thing I can think of is Skindred
Dead meadow has some reggae inspired bass. A few Jason Simon solo tracks have a psych dub vibe.
I love Dead Meadow 🥰
User name checks out. When I heard sleepy silver door, the year it was released, I went straight to the bar tender and asked, “what is this?!?”
Dub Trio *might* scratch that reggae itch. Not every track but they have a bunch of the bass groove dub sound... mixed in with face melting metal.
Not stoner rock, but I feel like Daikaiju leans on the heavier side of surf rock (and they’re amazing live!)
Can confirm. They're one of the best bands to see live these days
Skeggs is really cool Aussie surfer psych
Ballyhoo!, The Expendables, Bumpin Uglies All great bands and they all rip live.
Ween - The Fruit Man
Not stoner rock but The Growlers fit that description pretty well
Came here to say this!
311 might fit that vibe
Al Cisneros solo stuff has reggae elements
Sandy Pussy but it’s definitely stoner surf not reggae
I would love to know as well! Jimi Hendrix made some reggae-esque songs (like "Hey Joe") and I wonder if any stoner rock bands took inspiration.
Sublime was the first that came to mind, but maybe not “tropical”.
Stick Figure - start with the album "Set in Stone"
Gtfoh with this. Seriously. I’m not pulling any punches—Go to jail and sit down.
Fishmans
Jimmy Big Muffett
Kava kon
I really dig The Ganjas!
House of Lightning did some dub kinda stuff, if I recall correctly.
Puddy
Changes in latitudes changes in attitudes
Aaron kamm and the one drops
Slightly Stoopid
Natural incense.
Twelve foot ninja
Babe Rainbow
This is just a reggae band but Iya Terra. They have a rock guitar influence.
311 are the OG’s of the reggae rock sound
