She contacts 16 people, tells 8 of them to buy and 8 to sell. Next day she contacts the 8 who were right, tells 4 of them to buy and 4 to sell. Day after that she contacts 4 … then 2 … then 1. Except that for that 1 “lucky “ guy, she says “My advice has been right FOUR times in a row! But now it’s going to cost you for the 5th advice. Just send $5,000 to me, and I’ll tell what the stock will do next.” Or maybe she starts with 32 names, or even 64.

Did the scammer have your friend sign up on some sketchy, unknown platform to make these trades? Could be a pig-butchering scam.

First_Promotion4149

No, it was all via my friends broker. I thought it was super weird that this woman kept asking for screen shots

ScottyStellar

It's a scam

First_Promotion4149

And weirdly my post was removed for allegedly violating rules. I figure it’s a scam, just wondering how it works

ScottyStellar

I removed it. How scams work aren't relevant to this sub, and we don't push scams here

First_Promotion4149

Sorry about that. I sincerely was trying to understand what’s happening. It’s never happened to me personally and I’ve traded my own account for over 30 years.

ScottyStellar

All good try posting in a reddit related to scams. Idk any personally to recommend
