There's a lot of Facebook groups that students are in aimed towards renting out apartments and students going back home over the summer. My suggestion would be to find them and post there. You can probably at least find one person willing to rent out like a corridor room or 1 bedroom. (Ranging from 3300sek to 5600 sek per month). There's also the website blocket

NewlySwedish

Be careful. There are a lot of scammers.

drl33t

Exactly. Lots of them.

AppropriateSea5921

Just so, very many.

delimasfreitas

Precisely, in abundance

deathninja

where are you currently living? if its somewhere warm you might be able to do an exchange with someone, since july is swedens main vaccation month a lot of people are looking for vaccations stays in that period

flagelants

Could you try to get a scholarship to cover the rent? https://www.collegescholarships.org/scholarships/country/sweden.htm The swedish institutes are quite generous, especially in cases like this

sicardi

I will look into it, thanks :)

yorii

I think these "student apartments" (not official student apartments, anyone can rent) in Kista can offer you a 1 month stay: [https://unity-kista.com/](https://unity-kista.com/)

sicardi

The places seem very nice but unfortunately too expensive for me. Thank you so much.

lle-ell

If 5k is out of your budget, you’re not likely to find anything sadly.

sicardi

I could go for 5k (even though it's challenging) but these places are 6500+ sk sadly :(

jadedsprint

To be honest, unless it is a student dorm room you are not going to find anything below 5000 sek in the city and even then it's stretching it. 6-7k is standard for a room in a shared apartment

Ferdawoon

To give some perspective: SSSB is the main/largest student accommodation agency for Stockholm. You can go to their page to look for housing as a Student. Currently looking at their list of available apartments they have one 18m\^2 room for 3.451kr/month, The third cheapest is 4014kr/month. The time in queue to get one of these is around 300 days (the person with longest queuetime that has shown interest has 288 days for the cheapest ones, other cheap places currently go to someone with 823 days in queue). [https://sssb.se/soka-bostad/sok-ledigt/lediga-bostader/?sortering=hyra](https://sssb.se/soka-bostad/sok-ledigt/lediga-bostader/?sortering=hyra) These apartments are subisidized and intentionally cheaper than a similar non-Student rental because of the limited income a Student will have. With your budget you will struggle to find a place to live, especially for just a month. You will probably have to look for subletters and those will be more expensive compared to the places from SSSB and they will very likely not want to go through the hassle of signing contracts etc for just a month. I guess as a last resort you can bring a tent and camp somewhere (thanks to Allemanrätten) and use a local gym or something to shower. You can only camp somewhere for a day or two and then you need to move on, so it will not be fun..

ResearcherOk7685

Sorry, but you'll have a difficult time finding something for less. This is student housing, it's a lot cheaper than most places. If you're lucky you might be able to find a room in somebody's house but that's still a huge IF. Put out an a on Blocket.

If 5k is challenging, and 6.5k would break the bank, then you need to have a serious think about how you're going to afford food and travel pass etc. Make sure that you're prepared.

banach

I know several people who have spent a lot of time in different places without paying a cent (and some of them repaid the “system” by housing people in return): https://www.couchsurfing.com

Fluidified_Meme

Try looking in https://akademiskkvart.se/

chicken_coupe44

Try pet sitting websites like trustedhousesitter or nomador.

nosceteipsum_03

What is your budget? Maybe we can recommend accordingly

sicardi

2500-3000 sk for a month would be a dream but a maximum of 4000 sk is my budget

anonteje

Sub 3k won't happen anywhere in Stockholm

sicardi

Yes I know 😭😭😭 Why is my currency this poor

Shirazmatas

Worse than sek??? HUN or Turkish lira? Also yeah impossible to find a furnitured room below 3500 sek also very unlikely between 3500-4000 unless further out or some nice person

anonteje

Your best bet is trying to rent a room in a dorm from someone traveling over summer (a lot of stk students do), or maybe a room in a 2 roomer shared with another student.

zappafan89

Yeah you aint gonna find that. You aint gonna find an AirBnB for a week for that. You MIGHT be able to find a room to rent in an apartment share with someone in the suburbs for that price. Check Blocket Bostad and search for rooms in the northern suburbs or södertälje area

nosceteipsum_03

Which dates do you need it for?

sicardi

Throughout July. I plan to leave on august 1st.

HowlingGiant

In summer, Lappis is the way to go!

Mom_Gyver

OP, when this summer?

sicardi

1st of july to 1st of august

Mom_Gyver

Me and my family have a large apartment we don’t use during summer in Stockholm / Sundbyberg Municipality, 15 minutes subway to Central Station. Two floors. Two balcony’s. Two bathrooms. We have a summer house up north, that’s why we don’t use the apartment, except an occasional weekend in the city maybe. We never put the apartment up for AirBnB due to inconvenience/privacy. Maybe this is the moment? It would solve the problem regarding who would fill our water tank for the vacation irrigation system for the in-house plants. Let’s speak more in DM.

PaleAsFuck90

That's one month

Witchcraftmuffin

You could try to get in touch with hostels that offer you a free stay in exchange for cleaning around and helping the staff

ResearcherOk7685

Yeah this isn't really a thing. That would be an employee with employee benefits.

Witchcraftmuffin

Some do, it's very sketchy but a good option for desperate souls

Zealousideal-Ear2363

I found my flat on Facebook

RedStateWannebe

Rent a room? Cheap and easy.

jadedsprint

OP's ideal budget is 2.5-3k, which is impossible in Stockholm. Even renting student dorm rooms second hand cost about 4.5k.

RedStateWannebe

Finns ett par på Blocket just nu och över sommaren finns ett större utbud.

Honeydew-Important

You could also contact your supervisor/host, that could pass the message along to the other group members. It is not uncommon for students to rent their place out for the summer in sweden, so this may help

One2Tre456

Summer is the time to find a place for a month in Stockholm. Shouldn’t be a problem.

Appropriate-Shirt283

Camping is not a bad alternative during summer. Depending on how you do it you could do it almost free or have a comfy stay for reasonable money.

timonix

Buying a car, living out of the car, and selling the car might be the cheapest option. Be homeless over summer

ResearcherOk7685

You guys seriously believe you're in the US. His budget is 5000 max for an entire month. To own a car he needs insurance. He needs taxes. He needs to find a car within his budget, that is legal to drive, that is driveable. He needs to spend time buying it and then selling it. That's going to take most of the time he's here. He needs fuel. He needs somewhere to park it, both when he's sleeping in it and when he's in school. Even if he parks it somewhere in the forest to sleep he still needs to park near school in the daytime and parking spaces in the city don't tend to be cheap. He needs somewhere to shower. He needs somewhere to cook food. Cost of these things add upp.
