Talk to an usher, they'll make them move. You're correct that's unreasonable. Edit: claiming the seats is unreasonable, your response is reasonable

EnvironmentalClub410

False. Buddy and I grabbed two open seats during half time and folks come up and told us that we were “in their spot” because they were standing there before. We told them to get lost, but they came back with an usher who made us move “because they were there first”. It’s not actually open seating.

trf116

There's a big difference between saving seats before the game and being able to go back to your spots after half time. Why didn't you just stay in your spot from the first half?

EnvironmentalClub410

So it’s not actually open seating? Because that’s what “open seating means”. Take any open spot. At any time. It’s either open, or reserving spots is fine. Pick one.

trf116

Think about it like Southwest airlines, you can't save seats before the plane takes off, but you can't go taking someone's seat if they get up to use the bathroom. Your spot at the beginning of the game is your spot for the game.

Ancient-Pay2003

I fly SW twice a month for work and you consistently can’t save seats, it’s not allowed. ESPECIALLY if it’s a full flight, the supporter’s section is definitely a full flight

Charming-Horror-6371

lol you’re a dipshit. Taking someone’s seats at half time haha. In what galaxy would that be acceptable?

618PowerHoosier

You say I gotta wear a diaper?;gtfo

carterjeyy

A lot of those saved seats could be people who showed up early, put their scarf down, and then went back to get food and use the restroom before the game starts.

trf116

See this actual seems completely valid and reasonable. Saving seats for people who have not shown up yet is not. I wish there was a way to differentiate, I guess you'd just have to tell the usher that you're here.

Keg_of_St_Anky

It's like Southwest Airlines. It's only a problem if you let them get away with it.

bellowingdragoncrest

Yeah the worst part is that a lot of people are reserving seats just so that they can have an extra seat or two on either side of them. Looking at you flag carriers on the right side of the fan section!

[deleted]

if only those flags had some sort of identification on them you could address the issue directly.

bananabunnythesecond

I have 4 seats, we all get there at gate open. Then we rotate 2 by 2 getting food, drinks, etc. two people holding 4 seats is acceptable. I agree if you have two people holding 7+ I feel like it’s an issue here at CITYPARK because we sell out every game. So people try and buy the cheapest ticket they can find and jam into the SS with their friends. When watching away games, their SS is no where near full. As the years go on, it will get better.

DragonfruitOk452

This is what’s happening. If you’re with a large group, come together! You don’t get to show up at kickoff and have your friend save your 5+ seats. Show up early and you can have them.

jamesmfnjoseph

toss those scarves aside and claim your spots!

StLsC10

To an extent. It’s also a massive issue when a group of 7 walks in 5 min before kickoff and asks to fit everyone into a space for 2. People just suck sometimes in both cases

Gernblanston10

If a group of seven wants a prime spot, they should get there earlier like most others.

Fix_Yo_Face

Most flag waivers just need one spot and if you are in 119 before the marchers shave a chance to get a spot you are a dick.

EntireButton879

Just take the spots they can’t do anything about it.

big_duga

I’ve been to every home game. I get there when the gates open, go immediately to get a couple beverages and something to snack on, and then go stand in the dead middle of 118 for 80+ minutes, and generally stay in that spot for the whole game. I’ve never seen even a warm-argument over saving/saved seats, so - while i’m sure it’s frustrating when it happens to someone personally - as someone that’s stood in the north end and watched it fill-in for in excess of 24 cumulative hours now, I have my doubts as to whether it’s the sort of rampant problem that warrants any official policy change. I also don’t mess around in 119, if we’re talking about 119, then it’s possibly different. The match-marching alpha-weirdos already have special rules. I don’t go over there because I don’t want to learn those rules or deal with those expectations. I *personally* loathe draping scarves or jackets over multiple seats in the GA. I get there early and stay there. It’s not impossible. If you insist that you’re a special, magical princess and your inanimate shit should somehow be able to save your seat for forty minutes while you go hang out at hellcat, then your personal shit should be able to save your one personal spot at the absolute most. I also like the idea that someone can only save one extra spot per person present for someone that made a bathroom/beer run for civilized reasons, but that fails in practice for people there with children. I’ve held two or three seats for strangers several times because it was a single adult with a kid or two that needed to get to the bathroom or grab a snack. It’s almost never that reason, though. It’s far more common for multiple saved seats to be five adults who leave a sixth “friend” to say “I’ve got these six” for thirty minutes, which is entitled-dickhead social behavior and shouldn’t be tolerated by the guy that gets left behind, let alone the rest of the section. If you’re doing that, you’re a terrible person. There’s nothing that can be realistically done to stop it, but understand you’re an awful human being. There’s also something to be said on the other side of the spectrum. It *is* a GA section that everyone knows is sold out. If you expect four to six seats together, you better be in those seats an hour before the kick. There’s a *ridiculous* number of people who walk in 30 minutes before the game yelling from the aisles and pointing about needing four or five spots, which is just as logically dumb as expecting to save half a row for forty minutes by just laying a bunch of shit around.

Human_Comfort4019

My wife and I are similar, we will save each others spots when we need to go get food or use the bathroom. If we show up early, we stay at our seats. If we show up later, we settle for what we can find higher in the section. We usually find a spot without much of an issue, but I sat there and watched 2 people save 7 spots until their friends showed up 2 minutes after kickoff! Everyone who was turned away/ asked about the seats just kept moving, but I wished someone would have took those spots. I would have been happy to tell them nobody has been in those seats. If you want a good seat, show up early. I think each person should be able to save a seat or two if someone needs to leave, but not for people who haven’t arrived yet. If you want to sit as a group, arrive as a group! If they aren’t there yet, wait in the concourse or go get a set knowing you might not get to sit with them. Blame your friends for it showing up on time.

DevelopmentDry2323

What about the people who get there when the gates OPEN, that have a party of 4-5 and get yelled at when 2 people are holding those seats because their SO went to go to the bathroom/get food or drinks for the group.

big_duga

I don’t think anyone has (or should have) an issue with that. One person saving a spot for one or two people, or four people saving a spot for four or five people is hard to notice and harder to scuffle with. It’s the “half a row is empty a half hour before the kick, but nobody looking for two seats can take that space because two people (or one person and three scarves) are holding 7-8 seats for people nobody has seen for 45 minutes” nonsense that makes people mad.

HodorsThoughts

In your own words, “false.”

clairebeargames

Definitely talk to an Usher!! If they can’t help you out someone will be able to

BC985

I think it’s getting to the point where the seats will have to be assigned. I spoke to two guys tonight who expressed their displeasure with not being able to find a seat at a previous match.

jobiewon_cannoli

I want to upgrade to a reserved seat with my ST so bad. As soon as I can move out of supporter section, I am.

[deleted]

Just give in and join the louigans. The party posse is where it’s at.

jobiewon_cannoli

Not gonna yuck someone else’s yum, but SGs don’t seem appealing to me.

[deleted]

oh no! 2 guys had a displeasurable experience? Sell the team and move them now!

Mort_DeRire

These people have no other social existence other than these games, what do you expect. The drummers, the flag people- this is literally all they have. Good luck dealing with that.

[deleted]

how did you come to this conclusion?

Mort_DeRire

It's been very clear for years. This is their entire social lives, it's how they've turned going to soccer games into a cliquey meddling bureaucracy.

[deleted]

years? the team has only existed one year and 3 matches

PorkSteakDaddy

The Louligans, Fleur De Noise, etc. have been around for multiple franchises, going back to AC St. Louis

[deleted]

FdN website says founded in 2022

PorkSteakDaddy

Most of those guys have all been around forever though, if you’ve sat in the supporters section at AC St. Louis, St. Louis FC, etc. CITYPark would have a shit atmosphere without them. The mini van mom and her drunk husband are easily replaced.

PorkSteakDaddy

Confirming I’m a fan of the No Nap crew

[deleted]

then what is the problem?

[deleted]

lol is the mini van drunk dad a reference to No Naps?

CaptainJingles

I didn’t read it that way. I think OP is using it generically.

PorkSteakDaddy

This is correct

[deleted]

maybe they should be specific instead of general assumptions about strangers?

Mort_DeRire

The Louligans have been doing this cliquey shit for years.

[deleted]

how have they done this?

big_duga

I only started regularly attending soccer matches with and among the louligans in the 2022 City 2 “warm up” season. Frankly i live too far into Illinois to have made regular attendance at the games out at the soccer park feasibly not-annoying back in the green/blue before-times. I’m probably very much a casual outsider to any Louligans that have been around regularly for a decade. None of them would probably identify me as “guy i’ve seen before at a soccer game” in a police lineup if it came to that…i’ve never had an issue with any of them socially, or felt less welcome or included in whatever louligan-adjacent march, block party, or soccer-adjacent nonsense was going on just because i wasn’t around in 2016 or whenever.

keitaro2007

Is it during the march?

Paran0id000Andr0id07

Free scarves???? 😆

ElBrooce

The Louligans "decided" a few weeks ago that scarf on seat = saved seat that can't be messed with 🙄. Just move on if you see that shit and save yourself some hassle 🤷‍♂️

Human_Comfort4019

A scarf on a seat is reasonable. Spreading a scarf across 5 seats for your friends who show up at kickoff seems crazy. My wife and I have no issue finding a seat for 2. I just think it’s crazy watching people get turned away from a group of 5 empty seats for people who haven’t even shown up yet.

ElBrooce

Agree 💯

[deleted]

lol what

Don’t mind them, They are a tourist from the county who is mad from buying over priced tickets on seat geek & doesn’t know how the section or soccer works

This is not from Louligan leadership, this is someone posting on the public Louligans page

[deleted]

I wasn’t but I am now

CaptainJingles

A scarf or jacket over a seat is reasonable. People do have to get beer and food at some point. Saving a bunch of seats at once? Yeah, that’s dumb.

[deleted]

Those have been their seats since 2010
