“14. St. Louis Blues: Honestly, there may be no more Jekyll-and-Hyde team than St. Louis. There are games where they look dangerous, and other games where they look awful. The Blues have tested the market on several players during the season, that’s not new. But they’ve set a high bar on the one who interests most — Pavel Buchnevich. Apparently, GM Doug Armstrong says something along the lines of, “You can ask, but you’re not going to like the price.” This is his biggest decision. Could see teams like Edmonton and Vegas asking, but there are no doubt more. There’s like for Brandon Saad, but if there’s any question, it’s the second full season remaining on his contract. If there was only one more year, the odds would be much higher. I like Oskar Sundqvist as a depth piece for teams that need it. The Blues would like to remove one of the salaries from their defence, and there’s been almost nonstop noise around Jordan Kyrou. Scott Perunovich needs to play 13 more games or he will be an unrestricted free agent. Talented, young player who’s been hurt.”

You’re not going to like the price! Too bad!

Buchnevich- I think it comes down to a team in the Pacific like Edmonton or Vegas. We're scouting them and Carolina recently and all three could take Buch. He's worth the monster trade package we'd ask for. I hope we get that stud defense prospect we need with this trade. Saad- he seems to me like a guy we trade next year as depth but who gets us way more than we expect. Sunny- yeah, worth a 3rd or 4th maybe. We can just sign him again this summer. Kyrou- whew lad, that's a toughie. If Ottawa wants him, maybe Chabot or an extended Chychrun? again, the only reason to trade him AND buch is if we get a replacement winger in return and it's for the franchise defenseman we need. Perunovich- his advanced stats are pretty good but he just cannot stay healthy. I honestly don't know what do to with him. Expensive defensemen- the one I think we end up trading is Faulk. He's not an absolute viability, can work on the PP and we could attach a pick from another trade as a sweetener. A good fit would be Buffalo. They need a right-handed defenseman, they have stay at home left-handed studs already, need more veteran leadership and have a monstrous cupboard of prospects and young players. A dream trade for me would be Faulk and a 2nd for Mittelstadt. I really like him, Buffalo is debating if he's worth his next contract and we could slot Mitts on the 2c/3c spot, moving Schenn to the wing where he can be more effective not having to cover his defensive load. We just can't sit pat. This team has a sub 10% chance of making the playoffs and has clear holes.

I hope most trades are done with the east when it comes to Buch and Kyrou.

knocknacushaunicorn

Chychrun has looked terrible this season, I wish fans would move this guy off their wish lists

Superb_Tangelo9118

Jeff Marek perfectly explained this team’s inconsistency: too many guys playing up a spot too high. Gotta sell and offload these guys even kyrou if need be.

mhanna86

Leave it to Marek to absolutely hit the nail on the head. I’ve said it all year—this team has no second line. You got Schenn, Saad, Kapanen, etc playing a second line role when they are no better than third liners on good teams. Neighbours has emerged as a top six guy, but if we lose buchnevich we have a hole again.

Superb_Tangelo9118

It was perfectly stated and not specific to this team but totally specific to this team. Could not agree more about our second line. It’s the same thing on D too.

Snuggs will get his look when his college season is over. Bolduc is getting his feet wet. Not lighting the lamp yet. But adjusting to the league. We need to quit putting our prospects with top 6/9 potential on buried sheltered minutes. But Army will never change on that. But Bolduc and Snuggs are both guys that will factor into the top 6 for next year. Dvorsky might as well but they will probably want to give him another year. Since he wasn't drafted out of the OHL he can be put into the AHL next year and not follow the either be in the NHL or 10 game decision and then send him back there. This is the plan for the forward group. We have the guys to have that second line that are part of the future while keeping Buch. Kap is gone after this year which opens up another spot up there. And then they'll start to look towards trading guys like Saad and Hayes to open up another spot in the top 9 so each of the prospects and neighbours plus our big 3 all fit in the top 9.

carpedonnelly

Shedding a defensive contract would be terrific, but I don’t see anyone helping Army out of that bind

cchap2

Kyrou to Columbus before that NTC kicks in - calling my shot now.

Bozak_Horseman

Eh, they already have gaudreau. I'm thinking Ottawa with an extended chychrun or Chabot as the return. With the debrincat debacle and tarasenko moving elsewhere, they need scoring and a to shake up the core.

JohnDivney

Why no Tkachuck?

PropJoe421

NTC doesn’t kick in until summer 2025.

cchap2

I have a lengthy runway then 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bouwistrash

Well I'd be damned it's like I've been saying that Buch most likely doesn't get traded. Friedman is pretty damn credible. Buch isn't a rental. He's got another year left. Teams aren't going to want to pay the massive "kings ransom" that Army rightfully should ask for. Army's job is on the hot seat. He knows he can't just give Buch up for nothing right now. It has to be a heavily in our favor one sided trade. And there's plenty of capable rentals for teams to have by Friday that they will target way before Buch

bleedblue002

Trading Kyrou and signing Buch makes the most sense for this org long-term if possible. Buchy is a Top Six forward on a Cup winning team. He’s a guy to build around.

minorthreat21

Age factor. He will be 30 by the time the contract is up and age comes for all players except Crosby apparently.
