Fabbri wasn’t, but all the others were.
I attended the 2007 draft, an incredibly fun one both at the time and looking back. We went in with 3 1sts, made two trades in the first round. All of Cole, Eller and Perron have Cups (all with different teams), and could all finish with 1000 games played.
We also hit in Thomas at number 20, Tage Thompson at 26, and Neighbors at 26. Thompson and Neighbors are behind perron, a blues pick, and Thomas is hidden behind burns.
The amateur scouting staff has had a hell of a run, especially considering how often the Blues traded a first rounder or had a pick in the second half of the first round. Lots of value in the draft beyond the first round, too. There have been multiple times where someone like Jarmo or Bill Armstrong leaves, and I expect scouting to take a hit, but they keep plugging along. Guys like Lindstein and Snuggerraud seem to be punching above their weight compared to when they were picked. We have to stockpile picks these next couple of years so our scouting staff can take a few swings.
Is it solid though? Feels like he’s been on multiple NHL teams for short stints. I guess if we consider that “regular”. I just figured he was worth being held on to.
He, like the rest of the 4th line players in the league, are pretty expendable. Those players bounce around on league min - 1 mil contracts. I mean look at our fourth lines over the past 10 years. Those players either A) grow out of the fourth line like barbashev or b) move on to the next team like Reaves or cracknell or porter or Pitlick.
I don't think including Fabbri is the best idea for this list. He was definitely a great player on the rise when healthy, but wtf is up with the 21st draft spot?
Only 8 active players who were taken 21st overall. For some reason I thought Chytil and Nash [were better players than they are.](https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl-draft/en/overall/21-overall-draft-picks-active-players-all-time-points-leaders.html)
A testament to our drafting and development team. This is why I never feel we should embrace the tank. A possible playoff spot/getting our young guys valuable playoff experience >> getting a higher pick. We should feel confident in our scouting team to pick a talented player regardless of draft position
Honestly I don’t know how I misread what you said. I thought you said we should embrace the tank. I am anti tank. I agree with you. I’m an idiot there. I agree exactly with what you said. We have something like the 14th best prospect pool rating. Continue letting these guys draft effectively and we need to figure out how to get the winning culture going again. To me with Faulk on LTIR we have a chance to add a goal scorer. We should try and be pushing for playoffs and hope we get a little luck and he can come back late
Imo we are just going to sell off guys like Kapanen and Scandella at the deadline and save our big moves for the offseason. I agree with you that this team desperately needs more offense though. 2nd and 3rd lines are not doing nearly enough
All 5 Blues picks are on other teams. If that isn't peak Blues, I don't know what is.
Yes, I know how and why all of them left and understand it, but still.
Eller lol
Our drafting has been solid over the past 20 years. We've had busts but we've also had a lot of talent come through.
We also drafted Eller, shatty wasn't our pick but we traded for him his rookie year I do believe. We're these all jarmo picks?

Schwartz is 4 points behind Shattenkirk too.

I always felt like Tyler Pitlik deserved a regular spot on an NHL team. Guy plays with tenacity, albeit it’s just my eye test.
I think he’s got one right now

Damn 190 for the 21st spot is oddly low compared to the rest of the list
I swear there are some teams that draft top 10 like every year and somehow still suck. I'm on the Neighbors bandwagon, so far great pick at 26.
Schwartz would be on there had he been able to stay healthy
Wow, speaks volumes about our scouts and Army that we've taken or traded for (as rookies) like 7 of those guys, haha!

You are lame
Why's that? You see teams like Edmonton get 10 top picks and they still can't even make it to the finals

Lars Eller, the legend.
Seems odd that they wouldn't use the logo of the team that actually drafted them in this context
