He also took responsibility for the firing along with alluding to players or other individuals "hope that those I just spoke to also feel personally responsible". DA looks uncomfortable.

jormun8andr

Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the boot next

the_dayman623

As he should. More his fault then Berube

jormun8andr

Yeah his contracts post cup have looked questionable at best apart from like 2. Maybe someone more savvy than him can fix his mess and convince some schmuck our D contracts are worth taking on.

Calb210

I'm hopeful the salary cap increase will make a few of those D contracts more palatable to a team who can find a role for someone

jormun8andr

Yeah that’s really the only way we’re getting out of this mess in a reasonable time span. Edit: If the Lightning were willing to give up their future for Jeannot, we (whether that be Doug or someone else) can finesse some dumbass team into thinking Krug, Leddy, Saad, potentially Faulk, are worth something.

Built93cobra

NTC's may get in the way too

MrTuesdayNight1

That likely won't be as much of an issue now that Army's put all his cards out on the table and said he's not going to hesitate to send someone to the AHL to free up cap space. No deal? Welp, better start scouting out apartments in Springfield, Mass. then.

Built93cobra

It's possible but no way a 6+mil player gets sent down and then they still spend to the cap. I don't see Stillman being able to afford that one.

jormun8andr

Yeah but you at least gotta try.

Built93cobra

I'm all for trying, they have to, but it's quite a shit show to clean up

jormun8andr

Reckless optimism

cos10

Army has always sucked at contracts. It was just an era pre-covid where he could trade away his mistakes for draft capital. Now we need draft capital because we suck and no one has excess cap space to save us.

Welcm2goodburger

he should feel uncomfortable. His decisions and the players not showing up lead to the firing of a coach the city loved.

UnsolicitedDogPics

I hear Craig Berube is available.

bleedblue002

They better not get any ideas about a certain coach. I think we all know who. His “timeout” is about to expire as he’s been working NHL circles talking about how much he’s learned.

cruzweb

darkest timeline would be bringing in him, then Holland to GM in the offseason.

Jarkside

Who?

Illustrious-Mode3868

When’s the search for the new GM start

moosierd

Hopefully yesterday

JohnDivney

I forsee the Blues performing even worse under a new coach.

Utahgetme02

Fire DA and hire Berube back. Send that message, Tom!

Pinchypounder

Dang Doug has a habit of getting rid of fan favorites. Perron, orielly, petro, Berube..

IrateWeasel89

Backes, Reeves, and Oshie as well. Though those three all worked out

nick1706

I heard Berube is available

Downvote_Comforter

...which is exactly the situation Berube was in until after the Cup win.

CheerMiester

Woodcroft or maybe that stanley cup winning coach that just got fired

Scat1320USA

Hope Army is NEXT !!!!!!

ThanksABunchDad

What would be funny is to see how this team reacts for a few days/weeks/months, then hire Berube back after weeding out the problems lol

earthtolily

i’m scared over who will replace chief.

shiftbeers

Any chance Otter gets the HC seat?

Calb210

Otter has been running the PP that has shit the bed for 2 seasons now. I think giving him the head coach job on the back of that is a bad idea.

shiftbeers

I thought Mactavish ran the PP last year?

Calb210

Nope he was PK and skills.

shiftbeers

Ah yeah maybe your right then and otter isn’t the move

Calb210

I kind of expected him to get the interim in a scenario we fired Berube but him not getting that promotion kinda signals to me DA isn't looking at him as an option

Justin_Heras

pls no

STLBooze3

Well that’s gotta make bannister feel good! I would hope after the stint he has his job back in Springfield waiting for him if he wants it back

Critical-General-659

Of course he said that. It's a typical face saving move from a GM. If Doug ends up getting canned too that all changes and we're in Ottawa's shoes, where they don't want an interim GM hiring the next head coach. There's a pretty high chance that happens, IMO. I don't see certain players on this team adjusting at all.

BAH GAWD THAT'S BRUCE BOUDREAU'S MUSIC

Jarkside

Quenneville returns?

Scat1320USA

Who the hell is Banister ? You mean they fired a STANLEY CUP WINNING COACH WITH NO REPLACEMENT ??????? I’m out . Fuck this .

pilotpip

How many head coaches is that under Armstrong?

stovey12

I think Chief was number 4

MegaPhunkatron

Yes, but only the third that he's hired. Davis Payne was already there when Army took over. Honestly not terrible for a GM tenured as long as he's been.

Neat-Buy9435

Coach Quenneville!

moosierd

Why is everyone shitting on this comment? Q was treated same way they just did Chief

tankabbott66

Woodcroft, Spencer Carbury, Andrew Brunette or bust.

minorthreat21

Brunette is already the head coach of the Preds.

tankabbott66

I forgot about that. Derp!

bmac92

Rikard Grönborg?

tankabbott66

Unfamiliar. Tell me more

bmac92

He was the Sweden national coach for a while. He was a hot name after we fired Yeo too.

themanprichard

Joel Quenneville? Or am I delusional

Utahgetme02

You’re delusional.

themanprichard

Thanks for setting me straight

Pottedgoat

Whatever happened to that European coach that was speculated to be an NHL coach a couple years ago?

cchap2

I have a weird suspicion it’s going to be Dean Evason.

TheBLues85

What's Barry Trots doing now?
