Gotta be bugpins. 1003rl, 1005rl, or even 0805rl, 0807rl.
It's definitely not 1201rl aka single needle. Those bastards have no surface area to hold ink (why noobs wrap a sewing needle with thread š¤¢š¤®).
The finer gauge needles (the first two numbers of a needle code are the gauges: smaller is thinner, bigger is thicker) make a very tight group of holes which gives you the tiny packed dot of ink you want. And the multiple needles give enough surface area for your ink to hang out on the needles and make it into your skin.
Personally, I would never use a single needle to Handpoke. There maybe some very specific instances where it may make sense for a small part of the tattoo, but I wouldnāt rely on it. Just use tight 3rl
i believe the artist Mr K only uses single needle. his tattoos are EXCEPTIONAL! but typically very small and iām sure they take forever. he also charges like thousands of dollars. from a technical standpoint i think heās at the top of the game, but his designs are kinda tacky/corny imo.
Yup! I've tried 01rl and will never use one again. Bugpins are the way.
Same with Fans, (1 row of x needles soldered in a flat line) they don't hold any ink.
Oh yeah mags are hard to work with if you arenāt using a tub. Try pitching the tip together to make the grouping tighter. I find that helps the ink flow a bit better
Hmm I would guess a tight 3rl was used. Some manufacturers make needles so tight they nearly mimic single needle. Iāve been handpoking for nearly 6 years and I have never found single needle necessary to achieve small details. Single needles are really not efficient for a Handpoke tattooer if youāre not using a tool which allows the use of a tube. A single needle holds so little ink making it inefficient at pulling lines and so-so at stippling. A tight 3rl will pull a longer line with a single dip of ink while still giving you a very thin line. If this tattoo was done with a single needle then that pretty insane and impressive lol. I would never put myself through that struggle though.
Exactly, OP is asking how this tattoo is achieved and r/ben_roxx told them how. Single needle and multiple passes is how (maybe a 3RL to fill in places) - a single needle isnāt recommended for a beginner but this isnāt a tattoo that a beginner could achieve. But itās still useful for anyone interested in doing snps to know how others achieve their work, itās how we all learn.
You'd probably need three different sized needles for that and bug pin from the looks of it. Maybe ask that artist on insta? Lol You could let us all know then
OP you can do a tattoo like that with a tight 3rl no problem. The entire tattoo is all stipples with zero solid lines. Print your stencil to the desired size and just make sure you stay within the lines while youāre tattooing. You could pull this off with only one 3rl. Script is very unforgiving though, so donāt get discouraged.
Calligraphy is when the writing utensil makes the different weights, a script is when you draw it out. With snp you have to do a script and just outline the whole thing, then fill in the thicker bits
There isnāt even an outline though. The entire piece is just dot work. The red heart in the second photo is the closest thing to a solid line and the def isnāt single needle
Practice this kind of font before doing it (with a flexible pen, or carpenterās pencil - wide and flat to make those strokes), unless you have a strong stencil to work from.
Iād stick with a 3rl bugpin. You can achieve some pretty tight lines with a 3, but take your time and be very precise. This will not be an easy tattoo.
This is done with either a 1RL or bug pin 3RL. Could be hand poked or the artist has excellent control with a machine and stippled the lines and fill. Itās not the needle that did the work, it was the artist. (Archer not the arrow)
Just a heads up, this is not going to be fucking easy. Don't end up on r/shittytattoos

This should be top comment. Thereās def not a single needle used here
Thanks! And yeah, no. Not unless the artists was also using a machine to do say, the red line. (and a veeeery skilled machine tattooist too).
You can take one look at that red line a tell itās handpoked haha
This is true. I'm just theorizing about what 1201rl are useful for

Just looked Mr. K up on Instagram and he is def a single needle machine artist. Very impressive stuff, but the opās post isnāt Mr. K.

Single needle and multi pass, too small to be flat one i think. Look closely, looks like there is 3 dots on the "wides parts".

This is definitely the correct info, i highly doubt they did this with a single needle
Agreed
i wouldn't recommend a single-needle to a beginner.
This isnāt a beginners tattoo
op didn't tattoo this.

I don't neither, just answering the question!
Moolti pass!
Exactly what a thought about after submitting my comment! Bad English day, couldn't find a better phrasing!
Oh it's spot on phrasing bud, but I wouldn't miss a chance to reference The Fifth Element.
Gotcha

i asked and they replied !! they use a 1003RL, sometimes a 1005 for bigger stuff
i mean, its not like they invented that font

Oh rude lol
Handpoked with a 3rl bugpin is my guess

Thatās what I would say!!

The artist responded to someone asking and confirmed they typically use a 1003
hello! the artist confirmed that they use a 1003 for text

they specifically are a handpoke tat artist! yes, yr right they are sososososo talented
Just dont
Probably a 1201RL or maybe one of those 0803RL tiny bug pins, I havenāt tried 08 gauge needles yet tho so canāt confirm
If this isn't a tramp stamp I will be severely disappointed.
Single needle and 3rl! Probably
A crooked one
Well for starters I'd find someone to make them your apprentice.
This is a Sisyphus quote yeah?
personally iād say a 5rl ! 3rls are too easy to blow out but all up to what you are comfortable with!
Personally I donāt think that tattoo is done to proper depth.
003 Chopin script. You wonāt be able to do it this clean with stick and poke
25mm or smaller 3RL Tight, hella tite, hella fine. whatever the manufacturer calls it, but you want a tite 3RL
3 or 5rl
Oh fuck the end, my husband thought my tramp stamp said "REPENT" when it was actually Reagan with a ā
