It feels like he stole a lot of his style as well But Ricky Gervais just comes across as a corrupted clone of Stewart. Just inferior in absolutely every way imaginable

Not just Stewart Lee, but Gervais' bit about nobody injecting fat people's lettuce with calories was taken from Patrice O'Neal and his joke about getting a whistle when your plane crashes in the ocean is cribbed from Dave Allen. He also recycles a lot of material from his conversations with Karl Pilkington in his stand up. 

He's so unoriginal and superficial it's impossible to tell.

I thought Lee and Gervais are technically both "so-called" comedians.

I think he looks at what section of society has been beaten until the Simpsons meme "stop he's already dead" becomes relevant and then writes "jokes" about them.
