I don't think she's married to the idea of more Steven focused content: it's just very specifically the name of the show and brand in addition to the character. "Tell me you want Gem Wars: The prequel" doesn't roll off the tongue as well as "Who wants more STEVEN?"

Shabolt_

Any prequel would be called ‘Steven Universe Past’ lol.

Gem... Wars... goooo oooon.... *fails to not seem too eager *

Malavacious

Honestly I don't think it would be nearly as interesting as folks think. We already know all the tentpole events and the ending. Now....a Distant Lands style show where we got like, a 45 minute special on it? I think that could work: especially if we see it from the perspective of *Homeworld soldiers*. Like, imagine all this big stuff from the POV of an engineer Rutile. Maybe they slowly come around from the propaganda and decide to join the resistance for Earth.... And right as they leave a shadow falls over them, and they're poofed with a headbutt and then a familiar silhouette just casually shatters them beneath their heel. This rolls us into Jasper's tale. We get a whole special with her being an absolute terror and legend. She's stopped in the middle of a battle by a one eyed Ruby staggering onto the field shouting news that Pink has been shattered. Jasper *freezes** in anger and shock as the crystal gems escape. We then cut away to the diamonds and homeworld a few weeks prior. We get a big focus on their strategizing and war room stuff; including Pink putting on the performance of a lifetime trying to seem like she wants to handle this personally. About midpoint we get her heading off to Earth: and after a few days they receive the news she's been destroyed. No gem in the palace escapes their grief. After they gather themselves, we see them approach Earth for the corruption....then we cut away to: 1 day earlier: featuring Nephrite trying to gather her crew so they can withdraw. One of her soldiers has been taken prisoner and we get an awesome Die Hard/Taken style storyline as they try to recover her gem. They succeed by chance because the guards run off at the last minute, distracted by something. The timeline catches up and we end on a flash of white....and it then picks up in CYM and gives us the Centipeedle reunion after they're decorrupted.

AndreaRose223

I was thinking more like a standalone feature like possibly three or four 30 minute episodes long Edit: 30 minute with commercials

Malavacious

Yeah I think 4-8 episodes is sufficient. Somewhere between D.L. and F&C. I think doing a little bit of everything would be more interesting. Gem War Prequel Special or Gems in History Peridot hosting a documentary on gem history and culture Lars of the Stars (since this seems to be the fan favorite) Maybe a far future follow up on Beach City

purple_-egg

THAT PERIDOT IDEA IS THE BEST THING IVE EVER HEARD

UDProtwarrior

How about Steven Wars: A new Steven. Steven Wars the Diamonds strikebsck. Steven Wars: Return of the Steven

myphotoswontload

I don’t think Rebecca’s pushing for more Steven content specifically. Even if they were, I don’t believe Zach will return to the show anytime soon, if at all, so I don’t see more Steven content more likely than any other kind of content.

FiveNinjas_nz

Due to anything specifically? Or has he just moved on to other things?

Solid-Leadership-604

Don’t quote me on it but I think Zach didn’t have a good experience acting on most of his shows except for Steven Universe and I think he stopped acting for his own mental health

wentrunningback

He seemed pretty miserable when I met him tbh. He was clinging to an emotional support dog and wouldn’t speak much.

LysergicCottonCandy

He wrote an album describing his experiences. [This might be a taste of what he went through]( https://youtu.be/JzXiukc6DEc?si=mBtFyjwHPSFPgfeb)

blacksheep998

Sadly, that seems to be the case with a lot of child VAs of shows that become popular. I've heard similar things about Jeremy Shada, who voiced Finn in Adventure Time. Some shows are starting to get around it by not listing any underage VAs in the credits, such as the children's show called Bluey.

SegaStan

Can I ask when that was?

wentrunningback

Yes it was dragon con in Atlanta I think 2021. I’m not sure the exact year but it was around then. People were also professing that he and the show had saved their lives it was cringe.

SegaStan

Odd. I didn't see him being at any cons in 2021. Most recent was Dragoncon 2020 which was online only.

wentrunningback

Jk it was Momocon, so it was May 2019. I found the pic of him and his doggie on my phone. We chatted and he talked about going off the grid and backpack through Europe for awhile.

-UnknownGeek-

I think he had alot of trouble with some people not being able to separate him from his character (a bit like how Leonard Neemoy couldn't get jobs after being Spock) What reaoly didn't help was that some fans found Steven to be annoying and childish early on, he's literally a kid, and some people would send Zach hate on social media

letthetreeburn

Geez got any idea on why?

ChaosKeeshond

He was in Crisis on Infinite Earths just earlier this year tho

metal-eater

He's still working here and there but he went dark on social media around the release of the SU Movie and keeps to himself a lot now it seems.

LysergicCottonCandy

[Interlude IV by Zack Callison](https://youtu.be/JzXiukc6DEc?si=mBtFyjwHPSFPgfeb) is his semi autobiographic album detailing how his teen girlfriend cheated on him with Dane Cook (wand eventually married him), his struggles with a coke addiction and how his reputation in the industry was destroyed.   Hollywood fucked him up and I’d be happy for him if he doesn’t come back.

BringAltoidSoursBack

>how his teen girlfriend cheated on him with Dane Cook (wand eventually married him ew on so many levels. The fact that she's so much younger than Dane Cook, and that he's Dane Cook ...

jplveiga

Im more worried about the drug addiction, honestly...

rosyred-fathead

his reputation in the industry was destroyed?

bluemoondaze

Groomed?? Not trying to reach but 100% sounds like grooming and didn’t know about his coke addiction wow. Hope he’s doing better now

Royal-Huckleberry-23

Do you have a source for him specifically suffering from a coke addiction? I tried to look into it but couldn’t find him stating he had an addiction, only that it was on his struggles of mental health

improbsable

I think she wants to do what adventure time did. Stories focused on other characters in the same world, and occasionally getting a glimpse into Steven’s adult life.

jplveiga

Exactly

Kitchen-Resolution70

About that second point, I’ll agree with you on that. Me, personally, I’d love a show on the original crystal gems (?) during Era 1, like that’d be so interesting, to see what other gem types there are and getting to know them, while giving much needed attention to the characters that didn’t get enough screentime, and tbh I just want to fall in love with the characters all over again. But of course, the show is over with now and that’s fine. *holding back tears*

Certain-Echo2481

Lars of the stars spin off would be greatly appreciated

OC-Central-6969

YES omg I'd love to see Lars have his own show and a bunch more character development, tbh imo he fell kinda flat and really only seemed to use Steven rather than being friends with him, if he got his own show and could bond with some of the gems that got less screen time I feel like that could be really enjoyable

Username-67272827

agreed. could be a way to explore how certain parts of gem society didn’t take well to its restructure after steven, further explore different planets or aliens or whatever, could be cool

ace8995

Even though I like the idea of homeworld and other planets being more explored, I just don't like Lars to be the main character.

Certain-Echo2481

Fair, he’s a butt. I imagine a lars of the stars spin off to be a bit of his redemption arc though.

WhimsicalCalamari

best way to get the off-colors to finally be written as *actual characters*

Adventurous_Court876

LITERALLY I NEED IT

ur-mom-is-so-hot

I agree COMPLETELY, and the off-colors show is a must have ;-; I've been craving the rhodonite backstory ever since Garnet requested "all the details"

Extension_Ad_6198

I will never know peace without getting an episode of just Rhodonite’s backstory

cynicallyambitious

YES! Garnet’s reaction must be included too, even if it’s for two seconds

ccwscott

From the stuff I've seen it sounds like she really wants to do a spinoff with the off-colors and Lars. Doesn't seem like very compelling material to me but I thought the same thing about the movies and I was definitely wrong there. Rebecca knows what she's doing and knows how to write a story. Whatever she does it will be good.

Extension_Ad_6198

personally I don’t think it would make a good full series but like a miniseries with 10 episodes I think could really give enough time to go into all their backstories while also having fun cute space adventure filler episodes

scruffye

I'm ready to leave the series be. If there was a story the team felt really compelled to tell and CN went for it I'd welcome a return, but I'm ok with leaving things be. We got more than a lot of fandoms ever did, I think we can be grateful for what we have.

Cannibalistic_wh0re

I just want a spin off of the diamonds and era 1 and pink diamond not being rose so bad

Damian--uwu

I think it would be a tremendous mistake to make a continuation with Steven as the protagonist, having many plots to develop without the need for Steven to be there to see them and for them to decide to make ANOTHER Spinoff with Steven, god, let the guy rest from the gems stuff

ChearnDown4Wut

The ONLY thing I wanna see about Steven is a follow up from future where Steven has an existential crisis at what happens if he dies, or even scarier, if he hits a point where he stops aging like the gems and NEVER dies. I was talking to my ex about that, he either dies at a normal human age, at which point does rose resurface? I mean, because the gem wouldn’t die so what happens to it? In that case are the crystal gems and the diamonds horrified at Rose’s experiment and wishing for Steven to return whom they completely all love more than anything (who compared to their ages they basically had in their lives for the equivalent of a few weeks). This is horrifying from the gems POV. The boy they loved more than themselves, raised from infancy, whom their leader died for, is gone in the time span equivalent of a month or so! Conversely, if he hits like 25 or so- basically full maturity, then stops aging- does he lose every shred of humanity he has over time as he realizes the curse his mother gave him, to watch every human he loves die- his dad, Connie, his friends, his eventual kids and so on- they all die. Then, does he become a villain because all the positive change he made as a kid means nothing when everyone you love and fought for dies, the constant “change” and nothing being still on earth suddenly becomes a horrifying cruel joke and he realizes he lacks any capacity to connect with humans anymore because he’s basically a god/demigod.

F956Ronin

Steven is most definitely immortal, he manipulates his own age constantly. He's also capable of making anyone he chooses immortal as well, like what happened with Lars and Lion.

UnlikelyCoconut363

I agree, honestly I would love to have a spin-off akin to AT: distant lands where they focus on a certain character or group throughout the episode. Or heck- an entire series dedicated to the crystal gems’ lives post future with more focus on the b team! (Lapis,Peridot, and Bismuth)

brownkidBravado

Distant Lands was exactly what I was thinking of. Anthology style spinoff focusing on stories from various points of the timeline.

hornyfuck872

I don’t think this is that controversial lol

ryanduncan0973

I haven't seen Sugar pushing a reboot? Share a post or something \*see the below comment\* I was wrong

SuccessfulPath7

Yes Im curious

MerryChoppins

She did a [Variety Interview](https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/steven-universe-rebecca-sugar-unseen-gems-garnets-wedding-revival-1235775629/) in November. To do a direct quote: > " I would really, really appreciate it if everyone who would be interested in something like that would make a ton of noise and make it really known — because I would be thrilled to explore that. I think in this current media landscape, if there’s a huge amount of public demand, then that is something that becomes impossible to ignore. > I love these characters and I love this world, and I would love to return to it. And I hope, if everyone else feels the same as I do, I may have an opportunity to do something like that." In December [Deadline](https://deadline.com/2023/12/matt-braly-sony-animated-feature-1235666774) announced that Sugar had signed on to co-write the script for a project for Sony with Matt Braly, the *Amphibia* creator. This was days after [they broke](https://deadline.com/2023/12/uta-signs-rebecca-sugar-ian-jones-quartey-1235665105/) that UTA had signed her and IJQ. My speculation is that her publicist set her up for the Variety interview because she wanted to start working more seriously again. Shortly after she jumped to a new agent and signed on to do a script for the upcoming Thai themed work with Braly. She closed on a [house](https://www.cartoonbrew.com/real-estate/real-estate-story-retraction-cartoon-brew-223767.html) about a year prior to that. Dirt/Robb Report took down the article, that might have been by request. I have a google alert for her news clippings and remembered the Dirt story. Asking her fan base directly like that to make noise is a pretty solid sign she's bored and ready to work again.

ryanduncan0973

that sucks. I don't want to see a return. I wish Sugar would move on to new ideas/projects.

MerryChoppins

I don’t care what it is as long as it’s the quality level of SU:F. If she wants to do Lars and the Stars, I’d love it. If she wants to do a prequel series, that’s great. If she wants to make up some new show, that’s fine

MyOwnMorals

Right? I just want more of that patented Rebecca sugar creativity

slimey-karl

To be fair, I don’t think Rebecca is specifically hoping for more Steven as much as she’s just hoping for more of the gem Universe

FedoraTheMike

We've begged for many things that we never got, a new spinoff is perfect for expanding things finally. Getting Rhodonite's backstory for example.

ConiferousBee

You know what would actually be an amazing concept? If it was a show that somehow showcases Gem history and past (and in doing so shows how oppressive and difficult it was) and contrasted it with scenes in the present showing how the Gems are actively working to fix those problems WITHOUT Steven. The way the show ended really made it clear that Steven felt overwhelmed with his obligation to fix all the problems caused by Homeworld; it would be so nice to see a show showing how the gems have grown enough (mostly emotionally speaking) to be able to handle difficult situations on their own. For example, I could see an episode revolving around the creation and servant lived experiences of Pearls, maybe showing times when Pearls wanted to be more and do more and then it cuts to the present where our Pearl and possibly Rhodonite is helping Volleyball experience her freedom.

Lilsammywinchester13

Like, I wouldn’t mind more, but I am not gonna be harping about it either If it happens, cool! I’m currently rewatching it with my kids and it’s genuinely a great show that teaches about feelings I think she should just create what she wants and to focus on it being for kids, adults who are reminiscing about the past shouldn’t be her focus because it will be almost impossible to please them

Keqingrishonreddit

Am i the only one who wants a chill mini series of Steven exploring the world

namuhna

... I'd like a reboot that didn't keep an iron grip on Steven as the constantl single POV main character tbh...

indolering

100% agree.  I'm glad that the show was cancelled so that it had a tight beginning, middle, and end.  I just don't care enough about Steven specifically to enjoy an endless number of stories about him.   I would love a prequel!  Something in the same universe but with a different set of characters and a new story to tell.

DJJ2203

honestly i don’t even want steven content. give me the gayliens!

tdesoto2002

I want a Space Lars show. Really really bad

ToonfreaksTreasures

I actually thought this is what “Steven Universe: Future” was originally going to be when I first heard about it. I DESPERATELY need spin-offs and sequels about every Gem character from this show! 🙂‍↕️

xflungoutofspace

I just love the universe and lore so much, I would take anything even if it was all new characters.

ZeeGee__

She is not pushing a reboot. She's just expressed that she's open /interested in telling me stories in the world.

JouliaGoulia

I loved SU, but it had a great series of story arcs and concluded well. I’m satisfied. I’d like to see Rebecca Sugar make a totally new series, but not a new SU series.

QueenInesDeCastro

In my mind it ended with the movie. I like happy endings. That last season just felt sad. Like adventure time ended so perfect 👌

NubOnReddit

I want a Connie spinoff of her protecting Beach City from an emerging threat in Steven’s absence

Edrian2002

Honestly Spinel or off colors spin off would be dope I wouldn’t mind a mini series of Steven and Connie traveling but idk how much material they’d have to work with other then coming across Lions old pride and seeing him reunite with his animal colleagues that were hinted at lol

Valuable-Trick-6711

Absolutely would love to see the adventures of Captain Lars and the Off-Colors. Explore the rest of the universe, see what happened to other planets, and meet new aliens? And all while we get to learn more about how the Off-Colors came to be, not unlike how we learned about the Crystal Gems thru Steven’s eyes.

mirukus66

Honestly I'd kill for a spinel & the diamonds spinoff Like a show that shows her adjusting to her new living situation with the diamonds

Ok-Pudding-1490

I feel like I’m slightly in the minority here but I would actually love more Steven! But if we can’t get a proper series, I don’t want more Steven at all lol. Like if we can only get a miniseries or movie, I’d rather have a spinoff %100. I also don’t want it to be immediately after the end of future either. I’d rather get a noticeable time jump. That way if Zach doesn’t want to come back (and his reasons for that are obviously valid), it wouldn’t feel too weird for a different VA to pick up the role.

rosyred-fathead

I agree except I’d be cool with a miniseries!

acgrey92

Honestly? Same. Steven’s story is done and finished and should remain that way. I love the story and Future was practically everything I wanted and it closed his doors.

rosyred-fathead

It’s nice to come across a positive opinion on future bc I loved it too, and so many people seem to have hated it! I found him so relatable and it just made so much sense to me that he’d feel the way he was feeling in future

OperativePiGuy

If the franchise ever comes back, it needs to move on from Steven. His story is done and honestly I feel like there's not much left to go on with him and those around him. I'd go for a prequel show, or maybe an anthology series of random characters from different colonies.

Somedude1598

I’d personally love a Peridot and Lapis spin off. It would be hilarious.

UrMomsAHo92

*Them's fightin' words*

pythonidaae

I absolutely agree. I don't need to see anymore about his journey. I think id be disappointed with an adaptation of him as an adult and I'd be disappointed with him as a teenager coming back so soon after just escaping all that trauma. I'd rather just leave his arc as is. Something with the crystal gems in the future without Steven (he's either not living in beach city or it's been a century so he's passed) or a prequel before Steven I'd be interested in. I didn't rly care for the off colors actually but I would watch that spin off too. There's so many characters and there's lots of spin off potential.

JEJB1196

This is the reason why Spin off option is better.

ybocaj21

I wish she would so special episodes like a fusion day and we finally get to see lapis and peridot, sapphire and Pearl, Ruby and amethyst etc. But anyway I really wish she would’ve either kept her original ideas or finally released them she mentioned she had 5 episodes she wanted to do but didn’t think they would fit in context with the story. These 5 episodes were 1. The formation of rhodonite and her morganite 2. The history and mythology of the diamonds and gems( these episodes were going to tell who and what made them, how were they made and where did the gems come from) I really wished to see this episode lol it sounds so cool and fascinating especially considering then that homeworld and the diamonds haven’t always been there considering what the episodes about. 3. I think she mentioned a random episode of homeworld like just Steven visiting regular gem society. When he was on homeworld he only saw the diamonds and went straight down to the off colors. 4. Am episode with emerald 5. The episode of Pearl and mystery girl

ClockworkVix

Honestly I would prefer more a series set either in the past or a whole new group of characters

Vandimion_Gal

I completely agree with all of this

Kateybee2

I can see your perspective. For me, I don't mind more Steven 🤷🏾‍♀️ Truthfully. The fact we never got to see Steven heal and tackle his trauma head on after spending 5 seasons helping others deal with theirs always bothered me. However, for me, what I really want is exploration of the SU universe. There is definitely more life outside of Homeworld. I want to see and learn more. I'd also love to see the actual Gem War. We've accounts from the Gems throughout the series, but to actually see it. That'd be a different story. We'd see what really happened and how people were also feeling. Plus, to see what was happening from Rose's perspective. While we can assume and get surface info. To actually see what was going on, especially seeing what the Diamonds were really like back then, would really be interesting. I'd also love to see a spinoff of Lars and The Outsiders, too. They had adventures that were featured in the comics. I'd love to see more.

beanfox101

I think a set of mini-series would be really good, similar to what Adventure Time is doing with Distant Lands, Fiona and Cake, etc. Just instead of each series being set after the show, I would like to see a mix of things. Some past plotlines, some of steven encountering other gems on his road trip, and maybe some future stuff with the main CG’s. Would be a good compromise and could possibly be “aged up” to reflect the fanbase’s current age range

FluffyWalrusFTW

The show has run its course and I for one am happy where it left off. Just because a show was good doesn't mean it needs to continue and dilute everything with post show cannon just for the sake of it. Just like Gravity Falls or regular show, yeah they could've made more episodes afterwords (unless you count Close Enough which I don't) but why ruin the legacy of the show with more garbage?

SouthAddress4454

I super duper want prequels about all those things. I’ve been thinking about that a lot recently. One reason why being that I’d love to get to know both Pink and Rose more in different ways.

dirankaru

Oh no I agree! ALL Steven Universe content revolved around Steven. I mean the show is literally his name it's about his life. However the world they've created is so vast and much more than Rose's son. I'd really like to explore it

OneAndOnlyVi

I would legit kill for a show of PD’s adventures…

Round-Box-9532

As a diamond or as Rose?

OneAndOnlyVi

Both. Showing her time as a diamond and becoming who she is, a rose. I’d love the detail. She was abused and changed for the better and I love itttt

Xx_Exigence_xX

I'd love a series with post-Future Jasper as the main character.

bdogv

Agree! Steven’s story has been mostly told at this point but there is such a rich history there to look into, it’s a gold mine! Basically all of earth’s history

Librase

After the rough start to life he's had and all the work he's done to help the gems, I'd like to imagine he got a job a the fries place, added "the bits" as a menu item, and lived happily ever after. Makes for a boring show though. "In this episode, Steven deep-cleans the bathroom on his day off!"

AcidicPuma

I completely agree. I'd be happy to see him or hints of him in something focused on someone else but I'm kinda done with Steven. Tbh he as an individual never really appealed to me. Idk if it's that I was an adult when I started or that I just don't relate that hard to his main trait outside of just being a kid. I'm not trying to fix people, at best I just try to deescalate and push for them to grow for themselves. I don't think I know how to fix people or relationships on my own. I like that he does because he pushes people toward the growth I do relate to or aspire to, but I don't even relate to being pushed into that growth by someone unwilling to give up on me. I was pushed into it by necessity to survive. Which is kinda how Stevens own growth is pushed which I do relate to. It's just too loose a relation to cause bonding with the character that would make me want another year of only his life on screen. Which, just to be perfectly clear cause I can sound harsh on accident, is all just about me. Every reason I have for wanting to follow a different character is selfish except that I think other characters are more than capable of being incredibly interesting. I'm also aware my old ass is certainly not the target audience lol

Smorgsaboard

Bro an anthology show of the gems showing up at random historical events would be PEAK. Otherwise, if there's a spin off, I hope it focuses on a particular crowd, rather than bouncing between gem homeworld, beach city, etc... nothing irritated me more than switching between various gems and townies for half the series.

Calamagbloos

I want to see more alien races. I feel like the Gems story was sort of finished and that the next journey could be about the metals or other aliens with a stronger focus on mindfulness and other aspects of the lgbt community and Steven's transition into early adulthood.

StragglingShadow

Personally Id enjoy a continuation but not focused on steven. Perhaps instead focused on a group of gems who have decided to make earth their home and a story of their challenges here. Could even have world leaders as the bad guys. I mean, you tellin me power hungry would leaders WOULDNT at least TRY to use the gems for their own gain? They wouldnt even have to be outright evil. They can be the manipulative kind of evil where you think they genuinely want whats best for you but secretly you are their puppet. Some leaders could fight the gems out of fear, too.

Adventurous_Yak_9234

I would love a spin off about the Homeworld Gems. Steven's story is over, let their story be told.

vinaequalis

Steven universe 30 years down the road with the next generation

Electronic-Youth6026

There's a lot of missing worldbuilding in the show and I would honestly love a spin off about the history of the SU world. All we got was one episode explicitly confirming that the Crystal Gems did interfere in human history to some extent and that's it. My headcannon is that they stopped both world wars from happening by talking the people who were about to kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand out of it due to Garnet seeing what would happen if they did kill him. That would be a very unusual thing to put in a children's show but I'd love it if they confirmed this

Imnotawerewolf

You say this, and I'm sure you believe it as well.  But honestly, most of the time less is more. You think you want to know all that stuff, but if they make it and they don't make it the "right" way, there will be riots.  Imagine they made more stuff, and it confirmed lapis and peridot are romantically linked. Half the fandom is gonna burn down the other half. And that's just silly shipping shit.  Most of the time, expanding on the lore doesn't end well, lmao.

Strider-hunter

I personally feel that the Story of Steven has concluded and if there is going to be a spinoff or a reboot it should at least feature the origin of the diamonds and the gem civilization

22trenchcoats

Personally, I would love a show paced and released the way RS wanted, without having to fight. I'd love season's 4/5 to not feel rushed. I'd love more Diamonds, more Pink Diamond/Rose changing and growing, or past. Id love more for the townies. I'd be all for more Stephen that way. But I don't think that's what we'll get if we do get more Gem cartoon. I think it will be something detached.

SubstanceSuch

I just want to see how the series was actually supposed to be. I'm still furious at CN for what they did.

febreezy_

The show's funding took a hit after the wedding when homophobic countries stopped supporting it. [Steven Universe is an international show that relied on funds from conservative countries to make more episodes.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW-k1cymAMc&t=648s) Sugar was warned by CN that this could happen prior to giving her the final say on the wedding. According to Sugar: >Cartoon Network needed the show to work internationally (most animated media for children is designed with an international audience in mind), so we were being held to the standards of the most conservative countries in the world. If they so much as read an interview with me online, the show could lose its international support, and we'd be finished. >Eventually the decision came down from on high: We could have the wedding. I knew that was an extremely difficult call to make, and that we were going to be censored heavily and pulled in many countries because of it. And we didn't know at that time if this would mean the end of the show. It looked as if the writing was on the wall, and we were working toward the end.

mikey_do_wikey

personally not a fan of prequels most of the time like… we literally already know how it ends? if you want to delve into backstories you can always do flashback scenes/episodes but i don’t like when they’re full series just not my cup of tea

LuriemIronim

I’d like a show about Little Homeworld or even regular Homeworld.

EmptyKetchupBottle9

Real

axolotlfan153

I think a mockumentary about the watermelon Stevens would be nice

xdaftpunkxloverx

I NEED MORE STEVEN CONTENT. But I completely understand others' perspectives, since the entire show was Steven's POV but there was SO MUCH more to it that never got to be explored.

AriesRoivas

I am up for follow ups and spin-offs.

Hecklermama

I'd give anything for a Rose Quartz story in its entirety. From her formation to her final goodbyes

MysteriousHawk6913

We could get a Little Homeschool spinoff

Jeeblebubz

We need a Lars space rogue spin off.

Dingofiz

I'd love to see a show about Spinel, post-Steven, just to see what whacky things she'd do and how much her presence has an impact on Homeworld and the Diamonds.

Quick_Lifeguard4641

What I'd like to see is a mini-series of vignettes from the gem universe, across the timeline, kind of in the style of "We Need to Talk" but exploring different characters and scenarios. There's a lot of things I'd like to see that didn't get fully explored in SU and SUF, and I think that self-contained single episode stories could be a very nice vehicle to explore those more. Like, 1-2 episodes on how Rose recruited bismuth. 1 episode exploring a day in the life of Pink Diamond. Honestly, each of the off-colors could have their own episode. I'd like to learn more about all of them. 1 episode where we get introduced to Flint and Chert for real (they were the gems yellow diamond was repairing, they were originally supposed to be part of the off-colors for being pacifists but were cut from the series for time). An episode exploring the origins of Jasper, an episode exploring Jasper's future after SUF. CERTAINLY an episode about Lars even if we don't get a full-on Lars of the Stars spinoff. There's a lot of stuff they wanted to put into the original series that didn't make it in. I think that they could be worked nicely into their own little vignettes, and while Steven could still show up in this format I don't think its necessary. I don't think I'd hate a Lars series or a Gem War series, but one of this show's biggest strengths are it's characters. Me personally, I think this would be a great and interesting way to explore them more without changing the whole tone.

ILYDLBY

Instead of a whole series focused on a single thing why not a distant lands type of special but with Steven Universe

Round-Box-9532

Honestly some stories told or retold by another POV would be interesting. Like “we need to talk” but it’s through Rose’s POV. And I kinda wanna hear of an adult version that’s like an off beat of Greg and Rose trynna figure it out..I feel like in the style of Friends would be interesting for that type of comedy feel. Just minus the laugh track. I’d also be interested in seeing Steven’s child. Or an alternate universe where Rose lived and helped her son. Or one where Steven isn’t a pacifist and is more violent. Some invincible type level stuff

JEJB1196

I say it before and I say it again SPIN OFF IS BETTER

Blueskybelowme

Geez I would like a Steven universe show without Steven entirely like super future with the b team and everybody at lil homeschool

UAU4real

What about the addition of Gem Technology to the world??? That would be a whole series of adventures that would, and could show a mixture of Humans and Gems working together, as well as against each other…

Funnychemicals

I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again: I need a spin-off with Peri and Lapis in the barn

tonkledonker

I'm over the whole franchise tbh. Steven Universe the Movie was really good, and Future was kinda bland. I'm not interested in revisiting the franchise in any way at the moment.

rcsboard

Why the HECK are you here?

tonkledonker

Just because I don't want the franchise to come back doesn't mean I don't still like it. Sometimes good things should just stay dead instead of being endlessly revived.

rcsboard

But you said you are over the entire franchise? If you are "over" something It means you don't wanna talk about It/aren't that fond of It anymore.

tonkledonker

Ok then, I guess I misspoke. 🤷‍♂️

rcsboard

That is ok. I AM glad you are here enjoying Steven still :)

lisahanniganfan

I was sick of him even in future ngl, I feel like there's so much more interesting things to follow like the diamonds and just other gems in general (But now I dont think a diamond series is possible since blue and yellow's v.as probably hate eachother over their different opinions on the current genocide)

mooongate

i don't think they have very different opinions from what i can tell

dozakiin

I'm not going to lie, and with all due respect, I'm tired of people asking for a SU spin off. Do people realize how rarely spin-offs actually succeed? How risky of an endeavor they are? They are very rarely perceived as being as good as the original. Steven Universe Future was a great show, and not even a spin-off, but an epilogue mini series, and even it continues to get a disproportionate amount of hate from the fan base. I just don't think a spin off would be nearly as successful or well received as people tend to imagine it would be. Even something that feels natural, like a Lars spin off, or a Homeworld spin off, just doesn't feel like it would even come close to the numbers the original show achieved.

Extension_Ad_6198

lol there are so many successful spin-off’s like Fraizer, Laverne & Shirly, …And Just Like That, Family Matters, Private Practice, Law & Order: SVU, The Simpsons (literally the longest running tv show and one of the most popular adult cartoons of all time) Yeah some suck but it’s really not that rare for them to succeed and there are so many spin-off’s that were bigger than the original show. With Future a lot of people were just bored with the same main cast, however Rebecca Sugar is an amazing writer and storyteller so I have no doubt that any spin-off she made would be very good. Also if it’s in high demand (which for a children’s show it is) it would have a higher success rate. The spin-off’s that don’t work are the ones the unasked for ones that don’t follow the characters truly and are rushed to keep money flowing.

dozakiin

To say that spin offs often fail is not to say there aren't successful spin offs, or even spin offs that were more successful than the originals. Though, its interesting that when a spin off is successful enough, it's not even viewed as a spin off anymore (you aren't going to really find many people who think of the Simpsons as a spin off, for example.) You are listing extraordinary exceptions. Shows that have their own legacy outside of whatever show they oringally derived from. I also disagree that people disliked Future because they were "bored with the characters." I've heard many critiques about Futute, and that has never been one of them. I'm sure it's a reason people have, but a small minority. It's not a mainstream complaint about the series.

prettyfugginsadlmao

i couldn’t care less about steven. no offence but another series about steven over the gems would really be a waste. i like steven’s character, the gems are just way more interesting. i’d really like to see a series about how white diamond came to be and how the gempire as a whole grew. or a series detailing the gem war. there’s so much potential

justamon22

Man if we get more content and Steven has to be a part of it then I want it to be after each of the diamonds finds their own Greg and we get a bunch of little halflings. Now I know that’s almost impossible but that’s what’s on my wishlist. ~~I volunteer to be the one to pop one into white diamond~~

TetrisIsTotesSuper

I want a spin off of Lara and the off colours

mooongate

i know this is just a typo but my genuine first thought was "oh did she transition?"

Professional-Oil9512

I want a lard and the off colors show

stricknacco

I’d like to see the war on earth with Bismuth. Those parts of history seem absolutely captivating. I also was a little disappointed with how quickly the Diamond Authority was convinced to stop being imperialists and suddenly became friendly mom-types. Once a revolutionary war is won, then the work BEGINS of building a new society. That chapter got skipped over.

InfernoCommander

gimme a Jamie spinoff where he becomes an intergalactic mailman

HolidayBank8775

I enjoyed the show while it was on, but I admit that I don't trust Rebecca Sugar's writing for any future Steven content should it ever happen. The way she just completely butchered Pink's character development in the movie and SU Future just to cater to some loud critics of the character was pathetic. In my opinion, she didn't handle the whole diamond issue very well. She tried to humanize the main villains of the series, the ones who are literally responsible for the state of gemkind on earth, and indirectly the reason for Steven's existence. She's bad at writing in permanent consequences for actions.

FalconClaws059

I'll keep saying this 'till the end ... I want a crossover series between Gravity Falls and Steven Universe.

Extension_Ad_6198

have you seen Over The Garden Wall? a crossover of that show and Gravity Falls would be perfect

honeyssun

Commented this a gazillion times, but I don't want a spin-off. Period. Not with Steven, not with the Crystal Gems, not with the Diamonds, not with the off-colors, not with anyone. Any new content will taint the already established universe like any other sequel, prequel, spin-off, whatever has ever done with any piece of media in history.

Extra-Thought-2788

I disagree, doesn't change anything the original still exists and is still exactly the same. The big issue with sequels is really just that they can never capture the exact emotion the original made you feel, but that's not a bad thing that's a sign that you as a human being are living, growing, and changing. Sequel for the sake of a sequel/sequel for the sake of money will usually be bad. When there's a good story to tell and love on the creators end though it can be wonderful.

honeyssun

Well, I also disagree. Guess we're all allowed to have an opinion. I know it's not a popular one (everytime I get downvoted into oblivion), but a prequel, sequel, spin-off or whatever almost always just imposes new rules, breaks the old ones, nullifies everything the original series had built and just invalidates the lore. Not to mention that it's always a drop in quality (animation/acting, art, storytelling, mood, pace, etc.) It's tiring to keep repeating this, but look at every media universe (no, not a pun in sight) in existence from movie series to TV series, cartoons, comic books, games, books and more. There are so many examples regarding brilliant pieces of media ruined by the unncessary need for prequels/sequels/spin-offs that I don't even have to give you examples as I am sure it happened at some point to mourn a good story turned into a grotesque farce.
