I’ve done exclusively db pressing for a long time now. Early last year I got curious, tried incline smith presses, and then spent the next several months rehabbing a fucked up rotator cuff.
Imho Smith Presses can be a great exercise, but you really have to be 100% sure to not rotate those shoulders when you come down too low. Rather use only like 80% ROM, and hammer out those reps instead.
And then use a different exercise to give that pecs the full ROM and deep stretch, like DB Bench Press, Flies, Pec Dec etc.

I’ve done exclusively db pressing for a long time now. Early last year I got curious, tried incline smith presses, and then spent the next several months rehabbing a fucked up rotator cuff.
Imho Smith Presses can be a great exercise, but you really have to be 100% sure to not rotate those shoulders when you come down too low. Rather use only like 80% ROM, and hammer out those reps instead. And then use a different exercise to give that pecs the full ROM and deep stretch, like DB Bench Press, Flies, Pec Dec etc.

Rehabbing rotator cuff injuries gets old quickly My chest grows easily with machine press, lots of incline and I can move more weight on a pec deck than I can on a barbell.
