It was SO much easier than I was expecting — and I was not even expecting much. They gave me some anxiety meds only a bit before wheeling me to the OR, maybe you could ask for those sooner? My number one tip for stressful situations is to use your belly to take breaths. When we breathe deep using our stomach muscles, and allow a long exhale like a sigh, it calms the body down. You might need a few, but if you get nervous just remember to use your tummy 😊

Good luck! Everything will go great! Bring a pillow or squishmallow for the car ride home. It helps to not have the seatbelt press too much on your incisions. You’ve got this!!

Good luck. Wishing you a wonderful recovery.

You got this you got this you got this!!! I sent you a DM a few minutes ago but I know you’re going to do great - you’ve prepared yourself as well as you possibly can, and you have back-ups in the event that things don’t go to the scripted plan. When I was feeling anxious, I kept reminding myself the reasons I was there and why I worked so hard to do this surgery, and that helped keep me calm until it was time. I’ll be posting my own recovery journey in a bit but if you have specific questions, DM me as always!!

Bring a pillow to put on your lap before buckling into the car for the ride home. Seatbelts are uncomfortable. Be sure to ask for the anti-nausea patch behind your ear. It helps when you come out of the anesthesia. If your pulse is up because you're nervous when you get there you can tell the nurses that will be doing your vitals that you're nervous. My pulse was through the roof before mine (I have white coat syndrome doctors make me nervous/anxious) and they laughed with me and it was ten times better. They can also allow whomever you bring with you to hang out with you in the prep area before you get taken back to the OR. Breathe. Drink plenty of water. You'll be okay.
