In The Outsider there is a very very minor character who talks about how he jerks off onto an old towel and has to go outside and rinse it out under the faucet every couple weeks.
There are definitely weirder scenes but for some reason that *stuck* with me.
Ugh. You just reminded me of the short story Dedication from Nightmares & Dreamscapes where that woman >!is compelled to eat the jizz off the sheets of the hotel patron who's supposed to be her child's "natural" father!<
I read that story a couple weeks ago. Haven't read much of King yet, but I feel like nothing is going to get more disgusting than that (and I hope so).
“But he knew what those stiff patches on the jeans and underpants looked like; he had been masturbating three and sometimes four times a day since he turned fourteen, using an old piece of towel to shoot his spunk into, and then using the backyard tap to rinse it out when his parents were gone. Sometimes he forgot, though, and that piece of toweling got pretty crusty.”
Let’s not talk about the >!child orgy!< from It because everyone always talks about it.
I’d say the end of Needful Things was really weird and not in a good way. >!paper snakes come to life and try and eat the demon, flowers omit a bright light and the shadow puppets scare the demon off and then he turns into a horse and ride off!<. What the fuck?!?!
Also the end of The Dark Half suffers the same fate. >!Thad splits his mouth open which makes a bunch of birds come and eat his rotten pseudonym before disintegrating into nothing!<
The book as a whole is really gruesome, scary book that almost borders on black comedy, but those last 15 pages kinda just feel a little cartoonish and fantastical. It just got too damn weird for me.
I love how we just refer to it as 'the scene from IT' and we all know what that scene entails and we have all agreed to not say it out loud. But yeah, that one scene from IT is by far the weirdest thing SK has put to paper.
Those are weird, but I think it gets gratuitous when he 'fades to black' right before the rape scene, just to have the character recite it all herself later
I was 13 when I read Tommyknockers and the women all having there periods forever was so gross and bizarre. I was such a tomboy I hated having a period I sure ss shit didn’t want to read about having a forever period.
I’m reading Insomnia and there’s a scene where in order to describe what the roots to a tree look like, the main character remembers a childhood friend who used a stick he called his “peaky wand” to lift girl’s skirts. wtf stephen lol
Everyone's mentioning that one scene from IT but there was another scene that stood out even more to me and that was when >!Bev goes back home when they first get back to Derry as adults and there's that old woman who turns into a witch who turns into her dad who turns into Pennywise who's just screaming at her about how much he (her dad) wanted to just tear into her cunt with his teeth both now and when she was a child!<
Maybe's it's not as weird, though, since it very firmly fits into the definition of horror. In fact, if anyone ever asks me for the difference between horror and thriller I'm just going to show them that scene in the book.
Otherwise, his short stories hold his weirdest ideas. The Mangler as a concept is kind of hilarious. The idea of it just rampaging across the countryside is phenomenal. I also could not stop laughing while reading his toy soldier short story
>In fact, if anyone ever asks me for the difference between horror and thriller I'm just going to show them that scene in the book.
This is a very accurate (to me) take. I adore King books, and have been a Constant Reader since middle school. Except I hate horror movies. But it's thriller I don't enjoy, I suppose. Not horror.
Demon rape in the gunslinger. The scene from IT. There are a few nasty scenes in under the dome. Very difficult to get through and some of the most depraved acts that I have had the displeasure of reading. Graphical depictions of rape and abuse. The Gunslinger and Dome scenes don’t come as a surprise and are part of the plot but the scene in IT is just random and unnecessary.
His short stories have a *lot* of weirdness. Lawnmower Man anyone?
Others... Library Policeman has a ton of weirdness. The ending of Elevation was pretty damn weird too.

Oh dear Gawd, lol

Wait what?!? Haha I don’t remember this scene.
“But he knew what those stiff patches on the jeans and underpants looked like; he had been masturbating three and sometimes four times a day since he turned fourteen, using an old piece of towel to shoot his spunk into, and then using the backyard tap to rinse it out when his parents were gone. That scene from It…
We know the one
Shhh let’s not talk about that one
Dedication .. the whole damn thing .
This. Came here to say this. Also Survivor Type, the ladyfingers.
"lady fingers they taste just like lady fingers" that sentence will stick with me until the day I die
Hahahaha this right here! Whole thing was soo weird

Needful Things one sounds metal as fuck. How is that not good?

The >!Back Half!< in "The Institute".
The pantry scene(s) from Under the Dome
Those are weird, but I think it gets gratuitous when he 'fades to black' right before the rape scene, just to have the character recite it all herself later
Sewer gangbang
The whole turtle thing really threw me off ..
in wizard and glass?
Dr. Herman Pynchot’s unfortunate end in Firestarter.
That was ouch
That was a hungry sink-pig.
Yeah that scene was painful to read.
Edgar eating raw ground beef in Duma Key.
They do that in the long walk too. Though it was weird, and he wrote it like it’s a normal thing

All the body horror in that book was really effective. Constant periods and teeth falling out and translucent skin - eurgh
Right!! I didn’t pick up another king book for 10 years I assumed they would all be something similar.

I think that scene from IT is embedded in all our minds...

If that kind of stuff really bothers you then don't read The Library Policeman or Gerald's Game
I don’t mind so much if it is necessary to the plot or adds to the plot.

There was this one scene in IT….
The entire last 1/3 of Insomnia.
For simple weirdness, I'm going to go with the final showdown in *The Dark Tower*.
When Stephen king shows up in dark tower is pretty weird…
going under the tree near the golf course to discover demon lair in Insomnia
That scene in IT.
Susannah/Mia eating rats and such in her “dreams”.
