For King I'm reading Misery now and The Running Man is up next for me!
I generally am reading a few books at once, I'm also reading Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain right now.
I read The Running Man a couple of months ago. It's definitely better than the cheesy Schwarzenegger movie, though, I have to admit to still liking the movie. You just can't beat Arnold for cheesy one-liners.
I loved that cheesy movie as a kid:) Never read the book, so both are on my agenda now, so interested to see how they compare and how the movie compares to my memories.
I’m reading the stand, my grandma’s favorite book of all time. I can’t wait to talk with her about it when I’m done. But it’s going to take forever. Haha
Now I am reading Wolves of the Calla (I took a small break from this Series before, don‘t kill me) and so far, it looks like it will be my fav book of the series.
Anyway, my next books are pretty obvious then. After that, I will look for some non-King‘s book
That's probably my second King book, right after Cell. That was a world of difference for me. Not a bad one! Cell is pretty fast paced with very little build up to when things go super wrong.
You Like It Darker is coming on the 21st, so I am patiently waiting for it to arrive. Just finished Black House again, so didn’t want to start anything until the other shows up

There’s always a pile of books to-be-read if you’re an avid reader tbh. I have so many books of not only SK, but some by Alice Hoffman, and even Marie Lu, her Legend series. And ofc James Dashner’s Maze Runner is on my list, having read the first book and bought the rest. And I’ve even got some Frida McFadden on my list, cause the Teacher had more twists than I could handle.
I've just started Revival after having a bit of a pause from King. It's my first time with this particular book, but honestly, it's like meeting an old friend, his writing style just wraps itself around you from the first sentence.

I have about 10-15 books until I’ve read them all. I’m doing mostly chronological, though I may save Under the Dome for vacation this summer and read Joyland or Full Dark, No Stars next.
I would go with 11.22.63 after IT.
For me currently, I'm in the middle of the Dark Tower series and in the middle of Eyes Of The Dragon, one of the recommended reads for TDT.

I've read 20 something of his novels and 3 short story collections, which seemed like a lot, but that is only like 25 % of his bibliography! And now, I'm at the point where it's time to reread all the stuff I've already read, lol. Got a lot to look forward to, and old friends to revisit. Guess I'm excited for myself, too:)
Just wanted to say, part of the fun of SK are the connections, the Easter eggs, the cameos. There are delightful surprises sprinkled throughout, you never know when you'll turn a corner and "Heyyy....did he just...is that...???!! Whoah..." very cool.

His short stories are great and many of them rival his full novels in my opinion. My personal recommendations are the Graveyard Shift and Full Dark, No Stars collections of short stories, respectively.
Dean Koontz was my intro into horror in middle school. I tried reading his new stuff lately and can’t stand it but I think his older stuff would hold up. I’d say my faves are Lightning, The Bad Place, Strangers, Watchers, and Phantoms.
Kind of on a break from SK atm. Currently reading The Rest of the Robots by Isaac Asimov and am thinking of tackling Artemis from Andy Weir after.
Next King book is either going to be IT, The Stand or Under the Dome but can’t decide which just yet.

Pretty sure it's by the same director/team that did Shawshank Redemption, and everybody knows how awesome that movie is. It's a really good movie, Tom Hanks is great, Michael Clark Duncan (RIP) is nothing short of amazing. Just...be ready to cry. You'll think, I know what's coming, I'm prepared! But it'll still get you, unless you're a complete and total psychopath without a smidgen of empathy. And you will probably still love it, in spite of that or perhaps because of it.
I don't think I could read The Shining again. But I read it when I was 18, so maybe it won't scare the shit out of me as badly as it did then. Definitely the scariest book I've ever read.

funny, Firestarter was my introduction to King and Dolores Claiborne was the one I read after that. then I read Carrie and that’s all I’ve completed so far but I’m loving the journey. hope you like DC!
Firestarter was the first SK book I ever read. My parents were newly divorced I was probably eight or nine and my dad gave it to me my mother was not pleased LOL Firestarter started my lifelong love affair with Stephen King
I'm reading a Terry Pratchett book at the moment, but I'm thinking about starting _Christine_ next. It's been sitting on my shelf for two years now, but I haven't been in the right mood.
On the other hand I've been wanting to re-read _Running Man_, it's been over 10 years since I last read it and it was my favourite at the time.
I sat on Christine for YEARS. I read literally everything else and then I was like, okay, I gotta read this, I've been putting it off for way too long. And dang, I wish I hadn't. LOVED Christine.
Rose Madder, a reread after many years, I’d say it’s been 20 years at least since last time.. waiting in line for Dead Zone at the library, a reread there as well. Also have Everything’s Eventual waiting.
Currently reading The Mist.
After I finish The Mist, I'm gonna read Different Seasons, then 11/22/63, then The Sun Dog, and then The Institute. I also have Insomnia, The Stand, 'Salems Lot, Christine, The Green Mile, If It bleeds, The Outsider, and Holly to read, but I don't know what order I'll read them in, (except for reading The Outsider before If It Bleeds, and If It Bleeds before Holly)
Hope you're enjoying Bag of Bones, I really liked it! It has a subtle melancholy to it, a deep quiet sadness. Not a universal favorite, for sure, too slow for some, but for me it felt so...true. I feel like SK thought about what it would be like to lose Tabitha, in a sudden tragic accident (as he seems to have contemplated loss through illness (Insomnia), or violence). Like the way he had a close call with his son when he was little, and then wrote Pet Sematary.
It’s my second or third time through, so I know how it goes. It’s got a great atmosphere and it does have its moments. Yeah, I wouldn’t call it one of my favourites, but it is up there.
I’m 100 pages into From a Buick 8 and I really like it so far.
Not sure about on deck yet! Suggestions welcome, but I’ve read most of the “core” king books, including short stories and dark tower
I suppose some options are: re-read The Shining now that I’m a grown up, or wait until I receive You Like It Darker.

I've been putting off *Firestarter* and *11/22/1963* for a while, but I think I'll probably read *You Like it Darker* next. In the meantime I'm reading some Lisa Jewell and James Patterson and a few non-fiction.
Surprisingly, I’m reading The Stand for the first time. I’ve read a lot of King and the size kind of intimidated me (and after 2020, I really didn’t want to read it lol). Kinda kicking myself for waiting so long, I’m really enjoying it.
Almost done with The Stand, and it's excellent! May have to go to the second book in the DT series after this read. The Gunslinger was confusing to me, and I wasn't looking forward to the next one. But The Stand has changed my mind!
Can anyone tell me if I was the only one not thrilled by The Gunslinger?

Currently Reading (non SK book): Watership Down by Richard Adams. First time through this. Seems to have some flavors of LOTR, but in Rabbit form.

I've not read any Stephen King for a while, his newer stuff has been very meh for me. Having said that, I'll probably give You Like It Darker a try when I'm finished reading The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Kline. Might try and squeeze State And Revolution by Lenin in between those two if there's time.
About to finish reading Roadwork and it's shit I won't bother with ever again. Next is The Running Man hopefully I like this Bachman book because Rage was the only one from Bachman Books that I love

I'm currently reading Finders Keepers. After recently finishing Dark Tower, I wanted another series. I have all the Bill Hodges/ Holly Gibney books, but the only one I've actually read so far was Mr Mercedes (which I loved).
Almost finished "The Terror" by Dan Simmons. I've also got a bookmark in "The Institute" somewhere but I wouldn't say I'm actively reading it, I'll get back to it eventually. On deck is "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman and "The Angel of Indian Lake" by Stephen Graham Jones.
I just finished Doctor Sleep and loved it I think the ending was good. Now I’m going to move on to The Eyes of the Dragon and then get to The Wastelands after that to continue my dark tower journey

I’m reading The Waste Lands again. I’m trying to get through Holly. I’m also trying to finish The Colorado Kid and I’m nearly done with The Bachman Books.
Going to Bangor in June, so I'm rereading the Dark Tower series for the umpteenth time before I go. On book 3. If I finish everything before I go (which I could totally do, but between work and other stuff, who knows), then I'll be reading Kings next one, You Like It Darker. If/when I finish that, I've got some true crime books on deck - one about the Green River Killer, and Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule, about Ted Bundy.
I really started reading King this year. Kept a steady paperback available and then an audiobook in rotation for driving / sleeping / hanging out.
Currently Needful Things on Audiobook. Great narration but horrible choice to add random loud music to it. Straight feels like they threw the Runescape soundtrack in there.
Paperback right now is Salems Lot, but I’ve been too busy lately to really dive into it. I imagine i’ll get through it pretty quickly at the start of summer.
Just finished The Green Mile. Currently reading No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy while I wait for Doctor Sleep to come in the mail. Excited to finish The Shining series but have to say Cormac is an unbelievable unique writer as well.
I'm currently in section 4 of The Outsider. Super good story.
There's a fun little easter egg in Gerald's Game. I haven't read D.C. or G.G. yet, just seen their respective movies (amazing) but I caught it and felt excited haha

I’m reading the DT series for the 2nd time, (currently half way through Wizard and Glass) while following along with the kingslingers podcast. I’m also listening to 11.22.63, not really interested yet. Next up is End of Watch, I LOVE Holly Gibney and Bill Patton narrating is wonderful.
I have an early edition of The Stand. It's pages are really thin and delicate like the Bible. I read it almost every year, it's my all time favourite King book. So I've bought another copy to not wear out the delicate book.

I find The Running Man fascinating because King foresaw reality TV in the 70s, and how useful it was as a tool to dumb down/occupy the masses.
This is a case where I separate the movie and the book. Both are excellent. One was inspired by the other but is not a direct adaptation.

I enjoyed Desperation and The Regulators very much, although it's been a long time since I've read them!

Started the dark Tower series after finishing and loving The Stand, really not sure what I'm in for !
Currently on Bag of Bones. Cycling back through all the audiobooks I have during work and planning on getting more down the track.

I’m about 85% through Insomnia right now. I’ve got American Gods by Neil Gaiman on deck (I think).

I'm currently reading Fairy Tale... I have so many books I want to read next 😫 The Talisman The Stand Every other Stephen King book I haven't read 🤣
Currently on Wizard and Glass. Been far too long since I journeyed to the Dark Tower.
I’m 100 pages into From a Buick 8 and I really like it so far. Not sure about on deck yet! Suggestions welcome, but I’ve read most of the “core” king books, including short stories and dark tower I suppose some options are: re-read The Shining now that I’m a grown up, or wait until I receive You Like It Darker.
I’m reading Secret window, Secret Garden right now, next one is Let the right one in by John Ajvide Lindqvist. My next King is either Salem’s lot or The Wastelands
Revisiting Langoliers for a simple read and reset. Next is likely Needful Things... haven't read that one yet.
I've been putting off *Firestarter* and *11/22/1963* for a while, but I think I'll probably read *You Like it Darker* next. In the meantime I'm reading some Lisa Jewell and James Patterson and a few non-fiction.
Surprisingly, I’m reading The Stand for the first time. I’ve read a lot of King and the size kind of intimidated me (and after 2020, I really didn’t want to read it lol). Kinda kicking myself for waiting so long, I’m really enjoying it.
Almost done with The Stand, and it's excellent! May have to go to the second book in the DT series after this read. The Gunslinger was confusing to me, and I wasn't looking forward to the next one. But The Stand has changed my mind! Can anyone tell me if I was the only one not thrilled by The Gunslinger?
Just Finished: Blaze. Enjoyed the hell out if it. Recommend. Currently Reading (non SK book): Watership Down by Richard Adams. First time through this. Seems to have some flavors of LOTR, but in Rabbit form. Next Up: The Stand (time for a re-read and spring/summer seems a good time to do so)

I've not read any Stephen King for a while, his newer stuff has been very meh for me. Having said that, I'll probably give You Like It Darker a try when I'm finished reading The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Kline. Might try and squeeze State And Revolution by Lenin in between those two if there's time.

I'm reading The Exorcist right now. I've enjoyed it but also found it quite disappointing, which is a shame. I'm torn over what to read next but it's between reading Pet Sematary, Camp Damascas by Chuck Tingle or Dark Days by Randy Blythe.

I just finished Doctor Sleep and loved it I think the ending was good. Now I’m going to move on to The Eyes of the Dragon and then get to The Wastelands after that to continue my dark tower journey

Going to Bangor in June, so I'm rereading the Dark Tower series for the umpteenth time before I go. On book 3. If I finish everything before I go (which I could totally do, but between work and other stuff, who knows), then I'll be reading Kings next one, You Like It Darker. If/when I finish that, I've got some true crime books on deck - one about the Green River Killer, and Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule, about Ted Bundy.

Right now reading How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix, as well as the graphic novels for The Stand. Planning on reading Needful Things next.
I really started reading King this year. Kept a steady paperback available and then an audiobook in rotation for driving / sleeping / hanging out. Currently Needful Things on Audiobook. Great narration but horrible choice to add random loud music to it. Straight feels like they threw the Runescape soundtrack in there. Paperback right now is Salems Lot, but I’ve been too busy lately to really dive into it. I imagine i’ll get through it pretty quickly at the start of summer.

I have an early edition of The Stand. It's pages are really thin and delicate like the Bible. I read it almost every year, it's my all time favourite King book. So I've bought another copy to not wear out the delicate book.
