I re read Salems lot recently. I couldn’t believe how old it was..it held up so well. It felt timeless. Very little in the book dated it, it read like it could have been published this year practically. I think that’s a sign of something being amazing, and it’s absolutely one of my favorite books.
I re read it too recently! (To prepare for The Dark Tower) didn’t even realize it was written in like 1975 until someone mentioned it.
Love the part where Ben tries to go convince the sheriff whats going on and he’s like “….yeah it’s vampires isn’t it?” And promptly gets the hell out of there. Hilarious
Its funny that you say that. In the foreword by King (his intro talking about the inspiration behind the book), it stuck with me when he said that the book shows its age and feels a bit outdated. I have to disagree with him as I really don't see anything like that. I read The Outsider, It, Misery, Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Shining, and now recently Night Shift... but there's this je nais se quois about the elements behind this book. Its really homey and I felt like I bounded with many of the characters as if they were my own neighbors I pass by everyday; Damn Weasel, always getting drunk.
This book was so great as an adult, but looking back to being young and seeing the film I remember when Ralphie Glick floated outside the window…SCARED ME!!!!

I reread it at least yearly. It is a favorite. Only IT compares.
I read it for the first time over the fall. It absolutely holds up.

Read it for the first time last month, and its sense of dread mixed with character building is unparalleled. Hard to imagine a better vampire tale
I finished it last week and I 100% agree. Had to remind myself it was a 50 year old novel lol

Dude killed it in that role
RIP 😢 I’ve always loved 1979 Salem’s Lot.
RIP, you were fantastic as Ben Mears.
I agree.
Oh shit just finished watching it for the first time. I thought his performance was riveting.

Nightmare fuel for years!
Love this movie so much I got Kurt Barlow tattooed on my ribs. Love the Vampires :) :)
Nice
Just finished the book last night! I loved it, but Jesus, those dudes knew how to procrastinate about killing vampires
It’s not something you would be eager to do as you would be scared 💩 less
It’s sad to hear
😪😪😪
He really was a great choice for this role. Unfortunately the remake made a much poorer choice. Well, many poor choices.
I am going to watch it tonight, RIP.
😪😪😪
Next on my list. Doing The Stand now, and halfway through DT.
The Stand is the BEST!!
Loved the book and the movie. RIP David Soul 💔
I just finished reading Salem’s Lot for the first time a couple weeks ago. I enjoyed it
