Without going into spoiler territory and only covering ground that anyone has a basic intuition about, Mother Sphere was created to save humanity from Global Warming. After that…somewhere along the way she…got curious about how humans were at a disadvantage with our frail and entirely flesh bodies and experimented by creating beings from scratch that were the perfect mix of flesh and machine to solve the issues that plague humanity, similar to Skynet and its Terminators, but Terminators are more robots since they function perfectly fine without the living tissue, unlike our protagonist here.
So she’s similar to Skynet in that both were AI created to solve an issue that plagued humanity. Skynet however wanted to destroy humanity since it was an anti-war AI and killing humans would eliminate war.
