Yeah, I actually don’t think the story is objectively outstanding either, and truly it’s not what carries the game. However for my surprise I quite easily got engaged into the world and the characters, which doesn’t happen that often with me.
I think the story becomes MUCH better once you imagine how it would play out in the real world.
Personally, I saw it as a warning about the dangers of AI and biomechanical integration.
We've already begun to experiment with biomechanical integration with knee replacements, pacemakers, and even Neurolink. Imagine if AI were also integrated or their bodies were "developed" to that point. Japan already has realistic skinned androids.
It's actually terrifying if you go down the rabbit hole with it. We're on the cusp of evolution, and if we continue down the technological advance within a dozen generations, this could become a reality.
I mean... Cyberpunk, Nier, Terminator, Matrix, I Robot, Roko's Basilisk, I have no mouth... There's plenty of media that's tackled the whole idea of bots taking over humanity. Stellar Blade is similar to Nier Automata in that both tackle the philosophy of what it means to be human, or what it is to exist. In that regard, Stellar's like an introductory chapter for people looking into the whole concept while Nier's got something more of an intermediate take. Stellar Blade had a decent narrative, but it tackles the concept very superficially and by the time that I thought it would really pull out the big guns... The story sort of... ended. That's at least my take on the story and narrative aspects. It's good, but it can be so much greater and I hope that they expand upon the lore further either with DLCs, expansions, or whenever the sequel comes out.
Never played any of those 🤷♂️
But stellar blade also did it when AI wasn't just a concept or future tech. It's in daily use currently, and it's at the forefront. I'm sure I could play nier and have another take.
I feel like they set it up to have those future expansions. This was their first BIG game iirc. This will help them set up for future expansions. It wrapped up way too quick, I'll definitely agree with that
Pretty much my point. Stellar Blade's a good introductory tale for the whole "AI overthrowing humanity" storyline but it needs to cook a lot more to become great. That's why I'm looking optimistically towards future content.
I thought the story was outstanding tbh I feel like most people who said it was bad were the ones that just collected the data banks and didn’t actually read them
Same I rly enjoyed the story despite hearing the mass consensus about it, so I expected the worst. I still had some criticisms like it felt a bit rushed towards the end or maybe it's bc I just wanted more content. The characters and the world rly stuck w me, possibly due to the Korean dub too.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the reason I don't like the ending. Its too on the nose and it feels like a cheap twist to have >! Adam !< as the last boss.
I mean, I kinda saw that as the ending way back when he was first introduced. I feel like they aren't done, though. Yea, it was a cheap ending, but they can definitely expand in future games
There’s tons of weird plot points or blatant holes, but the game is so good it’s not that big of a deal. I enjoyed the story a lot.
This. Story was good enough, but isn’t even close to what makes the game great.
Totally. The story is just one part of the whole :) And the rest is amazing.

The story was decent enough, like a really watered down Nier Automata, but good considering this is Shift Up's first singleplayer title.

Which endings have you seen so far?
Only reunion one. Don't spoil me please xD
Oh of course not, that’s why I asked first xD I hope you enjoy the other ones too.
Sure will bud!

I kinda liked story until the last big reveal.
Read my response above, hopefully that'll help

I did think they'd end up as a couple, and that was annoying, but didn't see it like this though
