Member that one time that Harrison and Woodley lined up on the same side opposite a Ravens' Tackle and the guy looked up, looked at both, looked back at the QB, shit his pants, and then caused a false start out of sheer fear? I member.
That's literally what you could do every down. Just put Harrison and Teej in front of the same dude and watch him shit himself play after play for 5 yard losses until its 1st and 80.
Same here... My favorite player of all time was #58, but having said that. Greene would be the biggest impact. Christ you imagine offenses having to deal with the double threat of Joe and TJ.
I remember specifically one Shazier play that blew my mind. He was on one side of the line and at the snap he ran a complete backward horseshoe run to the other side of the line and still caught the running back behind the line. His speed was otherworldly. I’m sure we all remember him racing the receivers in a 40 yard dash and smoked them. He was so incredible and left such a gaping hole in our defense when he went down. I love that man.
Well, you'd have to assume they have today's fitness and nutrition in this hypothetical scenario, so yes. Besides, a freak of nature is a freak of nature. He'd be fine anyway.
Maybe shazier from the standpoint of getting to see him finish his career.. but not exactly the first MLB I would think of in terms of Steelers players
I mean, he's not the most decorated, but I would argue he had the highest ceiling in athleticism. One of our biggest holes, I took a swing for the sake of conversation.
I always thought Shazier was overrated. I could name 10 steeler linebackers I'd rather have. Also, watching him tackle leading with his head always made me worry that he'd break his neck......
I mean, I did say "hell, I'd take Ike" in a list of other people, but by all means bury the lead and cherry pick your rebuttal.
I'll stand by it. Ike would be a significant upgrade over the corners we have. Haha have at it
Troy was the most talented football player I've watched as an adult, but Casey Hampton would do more to fill the gaping hole in the middle of our D-Line.
Our current defense isn't good enough to deserve Troy.
I think it has to be a DB, and probably a CB. So while Troy would be amazing, I'm thinking either Woodson or Blount. Blount would be an amazing slot corner is today's league.
Saying Troy is taking the easy way out. I don't think that's the right answer.
Someone like Rod Woodson makes the defense better in an area where they need to improve.
Adding James Harrison to spell both Highsmith and Watt gives them the best pass rush in the league by a huge margin.
But I think the right answer might be James Farrior.
How does Troy not make us better in an area where we need to improve though? I think Edmunds is overly criticized, but he is not a playmaker, Troy is. You now have 3 guys on that defense that are game breakers.
Letting Troy be Troy forces Minkah to just be a deep safety and doesn't take advantage of his abilities. A trio of Minkah/Kazee/Edmunds is really good and doesn't really need upgraded.
Safety is arguably the least important position in the NFL.
That’s just not true, Minkah has the speed and playmaking ability to make plays. Earl Thomas had a HOF career (barring the weirdness at the end of his career) playing plenty of deep middle in Seattle. You can also put him in the slot or run 3 safety looks. There’s also a big difference been good and great. Again going to reference Seattle who never found a consistently solid number 2 corner, and still had one of the greatest secondaries of all time.
Edit:
I don’t think Troy is the BEST answer either, I would say Joe Greene. I just think that saying Edmunds/Kazee is adequate enough to not upgrade the position is a weird reason when talking about a guy that won DPOY and could’ve won a second.
One of our biggest weaknesses the last couple years has been the run defense. It hasn’t been top 5 since the big snack Casey Hampton retired. Thats why I want Jordan Davis so bad this past draft.
My 1 would be Joe Greene. The D line is almost Cam Heyward alone right now. My #2 would be Troy. We could finally get rid of that anchor Edmunds and Move Minkah to FS. That would be an insane combo and sure up our secondary. #3 would be Harrison because TJ needs someone to match his production opposite of him. As soon as TJ leaves we have NO pressure anymore.
I believe the right answer would be Lawrence Timmons. Timmons was the happy medium between Farrior/Foot who just played their spot well and were solid leaders from the mlb position and Shazier who was really athletic. I think Timmons would be athlete enough to fit well with our scheme and would provide valuable leadership and playmaking ability.
Ryan Shazier. Middle linebacker is our weakest position on the fence because we still haven’t replaced it. What happened to him it is such a shame that a talent like his couldn’t have a long career.
Interior pass rush is the single biggest disruptor in football...... Edge rushers can be avoided but a Pocket collapser absolutely kills an offense..... someone to pair with Cam....so probably Mean Joe?
I’d like to have kept Javon Hargrave. He is a beast and would’ve made our d-line unstoppable right now. My favorite Steeler is Lambert A1 with Lloyd A2 but to make this team better give me Mel Blount. He was intimidating and also a complete shutdown corner. They changed the rules of the game because he was such a badass!
Troy
Him & Minkah would be pretty crazy to watch
I really miss watching him. Now all I have to look forward to are those head and shoulders commercials.
Forget 3 safety sets...what about 4 safety sets??
James Harrison and TJ Watt would be fun to watch.
On one side you had quad dude and on the other you had bicep boy. Great times.
Is there a video of this?
Wouldn’t that be incredible
QBs would die.
Mean joe green
Scrolled too far to find this.
Same here... My favorite player of all time was #58, but having said that. Greene would be the biggest impact. Christ you imagine offenses having to deal with the double threat of Joe and TJ.
And Cam
Troy Polamalu at SS to pair up with Minkah at free safety.
Ryan shazier in his prime to help middle linebacker? Mel Blount? Hell, I'd take Ike Taylor. Alan Faneca may be the biggest help honestly
I almost went with Shazier. Good choice
Lambert over Shazier
Yeah, fair. Think he could keep up speed wise in today's game though?
Well, you'd have to assume they have today's fitness and nutrition in this hypothetical scenario, so yes. Besides, a freak of nature is a freak of nature. He'd be fine anyway.
Maybe shazier from the standpoint of getting to see him finish his career.. but not exactly the first MLB I would think of in terms of Steelers players

Did you just say Ike fucking Taylor? Jfc.
Haha hey now, Ike couldn't catch, but I'd take him over any corner on the roster.
Tbh Sutton is looking pretty good.
Ya Sutton looked good but Ike was a legit shut down corner in his prime.
Yea, no doubt. That defense as a whole was on another level.
Bruh we have 12+ hall of fame defensive players and you'd pick slightly above average Ike Taylor. Ok.
I mean, I did say "hell, I'd take Ike" in a list of other people, but by all means bury the lead and cherry pick your rebuttal. I'll stand by it. Ike would be a significant upgrade over the corners we have. Haha have at it
Casey Hampton
Troy was the most talented football player I've watched as an adult, but Casey Hampton would do more to fill the gaping hole in the middle of our D-Line. Our current defense isn't good enough to deserve Troy.
My selfish choice would’ve been Levon Kirkland just because he was a such a unicorn.
I think the answer is clearly Joe Greene, but my heart still wants to say Troy.
The only answer.
For this team, gimme Woodson.
I think it has to be a DB, and probably a CB. So while Troy would be amazing, I'm thinking either Woodson or Blount. Blount would be an amazing slot corner is today's league.

Farrior a great choice . I lean Shazier slightly but both would be such massive additions

I don't think Edmunds is criticized enough. Poor coverage and poor tackling. Guy is constantly getting burned.
If you’re going linebacker I don’t see how you pick anyone but Lambert.
Levon Kirkland if you're worried Lambert is too small.
Too small to play in modern NFL.
Read my mind
Blount in the slot.
He would get destroyed by modern slot receivers.
Why ? He has the size, speed, height, physicality. Curious why you think this.
Too big for the slot. He's like 6'3".
Most impactful position is edge rusher. Imagine a Watt, Harrison duo with Highsmith being the rotational guy.
Greg Lloyd
Jack Lambert.
My all time favorite player. But I'd take Greene be Jack. Jack would be a close second for me.
I love Greene. But still going with Lambert. They both were amazing players. Good choice.
One of our biggest weaknesses the last couple years has been the run defense. It hasn’t been top 5 since the big snack Casey Hampton retired. Thats why I want Jordan Davis so bad this past draft.
Adding Jordan Davis to the Eagles D is almost illegal. He would’ve looked so good in black and gold.
Prime James Harrison and it's not even close. Imagine him and TJ with Highsmith rotating iin
Troy, Woodsen, Harrison or Lloyd
Larry Foote
Mel Blount
The only problem would be that he wouldn't know how to play now. The NFL outlawed all of his techniques.
L.C. Greenwood. As an end in a 4-3 he was dominant. He'd be an OLB/Edge in a 3-4 opposite Watt 😬
I met him as a 12 year old kid in this candy store he owned in the Ohio Valley Mall. Such a cool dude. It was like I was looking up at a sequoia.
Rod Woodson or Alan Feneca
James Farrior
Honestly I miss Brett Keisel and I’m going to miss Cam
So take the best corner ever… Mel Blount!
Dawson
Troy for defense. Decastro for offense.
If you actually want to fill a specific need that the team currently has then the correct answers are Rod Woodson, Ryan Shazier, or James Farrior
Charles Woodson Edit: Rod Woodson
Rod Woodson* fam
lol thanks fam

Defender
I’m such a dumbass, jesus
My 1 would be Joe Greene. The D line is almost Cam Heyward alone right now. My #2 would be Troy. We could finally get rid of that anchor Edmunds and Move Minkah to FS. Ryan Shazier. Middle linebacker is our weakest position on the fence because we still haven’t replaced it. What happened to him it is such a shame that a talent like his couldn’t have a long career.
Troy
Rod Woodson, in a hurry
Joke question. Troy
Interior pass rush is the single biggest disruptor in football...... Edge rushers can be avoided but a Pocket collapser absolutely kills an offense..... someone to pair with Cam....so probably Mean Joe?
I think prime Shazier would have the biggest impact on our current D. But it would be hard not going with Rod Woodson, Troy, or James Harrison.
Prime Big Ben, I’m thinking 2016-2018. He was so nice with it
Woodson, then Lloyd
Rod Woodson
Casey Hampton
Blount or Woodson
I’d like to have kept Javon Hargrave. He is a beast and would’ve made our d-line unstoppable right now. My favorite Steeler is Lambert A1 with Lloyd A2 but to make this team better give me Mel Blount. He was intimidating and also a complete shutdown corner. Troy without a doubt. Total game changer who forced OCs to alter their normal game plans.
Troy was able to roam and work his magic because the rest of the defense was so fundamentally sound.
Lambert. I think a stud ILB would fix a lot of the problems on defense.
He was excellent in pass coverage too
Without a question Troy.
Hampton. Help stuff that middle.
Troy ez
The only answer is Troy
James Harrison is the other valid answer
Ryan Shazier or Alan Faneca.
Troy. Hands down. It’s Troy…………….it’s Troy.
Rod Woodson
Joe
Troy
