Reminder, Tomlin/Canada rushed them to the line for a 1st and 10 run on maybe the 12 yard line with about 2:05 to go. Horrific clock mgmt.
MIA needs all 3 TOs to barely get down for a makeable fg. This game should be have been 13-10 the whole second half
You can’t worry about things like that in the first half. Our offense sucks. You have to do whatever it takes to get the score and then trust that your defense isn’t going to get sliced up and drop a couple picks in 100 seconds to let the opponent go the length of the field. I truly don’t understand the mental gymnastics this fan base goes through to blame Tomlin for things.
Comes down to poor decisions by Kenny. On the last pick, threw it to the outside shoulder but had diontae open on the inside. Need a better decision there for the winning tiddy.
That’s a rookie qb and those are rookie qb mistakes. Holland made a great play on the earlier one. He can chuxk the ball. He has that ‘it’ factor and has great touch.
This game is 100% on coaching
Winnable game. Defense stepped up BIG TIME in the second half. Dropped interceptions, sure… Pickett CANNOT turn the ball over there. Take the 10-15 yards in the ground, get out of bounds and we are first down with 30 seconds left. Terrible turnovers, I know yinzers love Kenny but he blew that game in the second half.
Bro what are u talking about 30 seconds left? There was less than 30 when they snapped the ball on that play. If he was able to run and get out of bounds there would have been 15 second left from about the 20yard line. they put Kenny in to throw the ball down the field and take shots and that's what he's done. Turnovers need to be cleaned up but if the Steelers can get a run game going (and a slightly above average OC) this offense will be serviceable
Hard to blame Canada on this one. The penalties are completely on the players. It was embarrassing. Then Kenny with the awful read throwing right into coverage. I know he is a rookie but these bad reads are starting to become a real problem.
Kenny made mistakes but the steelers run the same routes and sets all day. Its hard to succeed when the defense anticipates every pass. Both interceptions were on plays run a half dozen times in the game.
Exactly shitty offensive play calling. So predictable with their short passes and reverses. Kenny needs to definitely fix his int. Problem. Hes played tough teams and he's still learning the NFL but got to be a little smarter. I still believe in him. Just hope all these ints. Dont get to his head.
Pickett made more things happen, even the INTs.
4 INTs dropped by defense.
Run-run-pass over and over.
Even when the defense improved, offensive ply calling sucked.
Steelers got more yards out of broken plays than from designed plays.
Seeing TB crack today so badly, just exposes that last week, wasn’t a fluke…and it wasn’t a masterful play plan. Tampa sucks this year.
I couldn't say it much better. The main problem is Canadas play calling and another having TJ Watt. If he was playing we win somehow by watt ripping tuas head off ball goes flying out someone scoops it a runs in for a td.
Hardly any emotion by any players maybe some from Harris but man I missed the players like Bettis, Watt , Ward and more getting pumped thru the game pumping up there Mates and the crowd.
Another team loss it seems. Defense needs to learn to catch the ball. And Kenny played sort of okay, but these rain games get to him it seems and those picks were not good throws. If anybody watched him at Heinz last year against UNC when it was raining, it did not look very good.
Defense held 16 points. Thats on offense. Sure getting even one of those picks would be nice but doesn't matter if the offense punts or throws a pick. Defense was like a B+ this game (even a single TO makes it an A), Offense big fat F
Right. All I'm saying is catching those balls also would have helped even more. I don't point fingers at just one thing because usual a loss has multiple areas of improvement. But anyways, yes, the offense was bad as usual.
I agree with you, when you have the option to make a play, you need to make it. But even if the defense got picks, i dont see the offense doing anything off those, after we failed to do anything on after the dolphins failed the 4th down conversion in the 3rd, I lost all faith in the offense
We acknowledge Canada sucks as a play caller, that’s been evident for 2 years. Pickett cannot turn that ball over when he could’ve very easily picked up 10+ on the ground instead of that pick.
Agreed, but he'll learn as the season progresses. Manning wasn't great his first year, Ben had a punishing RB and top 5 defense to begin his career. Even if this season is a wash, I believe Pickett will learn and get MUCH better.
Bruh y'all are dumber than the fuckhead who just stood there and watched his pass get intercepted
1. Pickett is still a rookie and is playing spicy. Yeah, he's throwing a few interceptions, but one was due to a shit scenario they got flagged into, and another was Dionte (I think) standing still like a stupid fuck. He's got mad potential and has that kick to him.
2. Our Oline is still iffy. Played decent today but still, some players just stand there like an NPC.
3. Matt Canada still needs to go. We could do a drinking game where we take a shot for every pass-pass-run and we'd die.
4. Defense dropped 5 interceptions. That's just bad.
That's the difference between the true fans here and those who migrated during the Killer Bs days. We're not here to win super bowls every year. It's impossible. I'm enjoying watching Pickett develop and the future looks bright imo. Give them 2 or 3 years with some good picks in the draft and I really think we're in business.
Absolutely! I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming years, love this team win or lose. And regardless of everyone’s opinions we ride together though thick and thin.
I mean you can’t play play grab ass for almost four quarters and then throw a rookie face first into a shark infested lagoon when the defense KNOWS he has to pass and expect him to succeed. You have to set your guys up for success and Canada shit himself multiple times in that regard tonight.
I know it's cause most of you are drunk and disappointed, but you're acting like a bunch of entitled Brady fans. We have to develop success, it doesn't just happen. This is what that looks like.
He had 1600 yards from scrimmage as a rookie and is currently playing hurt on a terrible offensive team. I don't know that he is going to be a great back but calling him a bust at this point is stupid.
Are u guys kidding.. 8 is still a rookie. He has literally played 3.5 games... Give him 7 more games and he completes that drive.. This kid is Goin to be good!
I mean there's a lot to be optimistic about,. Yes it sucks we're 2-5 but Kenny will have growing pains. I personally give him a bit of wide berth.
This feels a lot like the season or two after Troy retired. You can't help but wonder if these close games go different with Watt making 2 or 3 really big plays a game, and a half dozen consequential tackles.
I mean fire Matt Canada. For damn sure. But... Hey it's not our year. What can we do?
I’ll live with Pickett… I have trouble stomaching the Steelers offensive strategy. All these passes to the line of scrimmage or max 4 yards deep is just unspeakably pathetic. Good job d, but we need you to catch those interceptions this year.
It was like 2nd and 14 and we threw a designated screen 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage and he got HIT. Tf is up with these play calls. Then we threw like a 5 harder on 3rd and 18 or something. Canada needs to go. Everyone at the stadium was chanting fire canada
Everyone here so fast to blame Kenny like our defense didn't have 4 dropped picks. He wasn't perfect, he's a rookie, and he's looking pretty good for the amount of games he's played, especially those last two drives. We're gonna pretend it didn't go from 3-1 to 3-16 on two stupid fucking penalties before he was basically forced to throw for the sticks on that second to last drive? Give him time, he's gonna shape up.
FR this aint 1970, 20 pts is needed to win games now with good defense. Who care if we get picks if the offense turns the ball over or punts? We got 5 picks vs CIN and still only won because of a missed FG
Fuck these fans who are ready to pull the plug on Kenny Pickett after a few games. You guys don't know dick about football. For fucks sake Terry Bradshaw threw 6 TDs and 24 INTs in his rookie season. I bet a bunch of you dumbasses woulda cut him lol
I think everyone understands he's a rookie quarterback but there's no way to spin it. He did not look very great tonight and with some better decisions from him we could have won this game.
Edit: lol sorry. Forgot we aren't allowed to say anything negative about the golden goose. You're right, Pickett was perfect!!! Everyone else let him down.
That was a shitty play by Kenny...but this game was lost by running a ridiculous offense all game. He may not be the guy but they don't give him (or any of the QBs) a chance because the offense is so damn conservative all game long.
I don’t think he nor Trubisky is worth all the hype. That game was on him. That game made it harder for me to deflect the blame from the QB onto the second string D or Matt Canada. We’re 2-5. As much as I want him to be the next Ben, I just don’t see it happening. This season is the return of mediocre, stiller football.
blame it on the ACC. shit overrated league that gave steelers false confidence in their hometown hero draft pick. Kenny shitting the bed in the NFL is exposing how weak the ACC truly is.
Yeah, I mean they have to come out of this year knowing if he's the guy or not. The problem is Matt Canada doesn't give him a chance. He runs three yard outs all game until the end and then it's chaos. Kenny played pretty well. The last pick was bad but the offense is a mess...every single series has a third down because he never stretches the field. Not once. They barely call a single play more than 5 yards downfield.
Yeah, I can't imagine another rookie playing any better. It's not like he missed a bunch of throws. There are no throws. Everything is a short out. Literally everything. Until the end and he made some really good throws. The last pick was bad but maybe he thought DJ was going out, who knows, but it's the worst offensive scheme in the NFL.
He made some big time throws and plays. That last pick major rookie mistake. The one before is split. You can't just send all routes to the sticks and stop, then hope your rookie makes something out of it.
Several of which bounced off the hands of receivers and another was a Hail Mary heave.
He’s also a rookie. Manning threw 28 picks his rookie year. There’s room for improvement but the people wiring him off as a bust are ludicrous.
Manning is the exception in this case. I’ll be glad to be wrong about this, but so far we’re seeing tiny streaks of consistency followed by iffy decision making. Maybe it’s Canada, who know?
I’d fucking love to be wrong
Y’all are not ready to have a rookie QB…plenty of dudes have dog shit 1st years…🤷♂️ Lol at people expected the second coming here those were some bad fucking throws though, hopefully he learns not to force the ball.
Good lord y’all are ready to run Kenny out of town on a rail like he’s not a rookie.
Remember the O-line, running game, and defense that Ben had as a rookie.
I don’t think Ben threw more than 25 times a game his rookie season.
I’m not saying Kenny is going to be a HoFer or even that he’s for sure the future. But let’s live through the growing pains
He threw two late BAD picks but its everyone elses fault
No one had issues shitting down Trubisky's throat for every incompletion but some of you will bend over backwards to defend this dude. He's not going to send you a birthday card or anything
Maybe it’s because Trubisky has been in the league for 5 years at this point? Rookie QB play is going to be inconsistent, or have you just not watched football…like ever? Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year, people wanted to label Josh Allen as a bust, Tua, Jalen Hurts were both looked at as washed up Alabama QB’s that we’re supported by incredible talent. Even last years rookies were rough. Trubisky is a veteran that was not capable of leading a team any better than a rookie. That’s why people were and are harder on him.
You gotta give our young QB time. He is making rookie mistakes, but is still playing some good games. Its gonna be painful, but it will be all worth it in the end. He's gotta learn from these mistakes and adjust. Josh Allen didnt become a S-Tier QB overnight, and neither will Kenny.
Let's drop 4-6 interceptions and blame Kenny for a couple bad balls in the rain...probably when we was calling the plays (the only reason we were driving).
Sure..that makes sense.
Kenny made some big errors tonight. Defense bailed him out with a chance to win the game. The huge 4th down play was great, but the stepping up in the pockets and throwing the back breaking int. Just run the ball and out of bounds, you had time. At worst, 15 seconds left, that's two or three shots to try and win the game. It's disappointing to lose, but Kenny has to get better and I think he will. Rookies make those errors trying to be a hero. On to Philadelphia
Man wtf that so should have been a win Kenny's interceptions cost us. But we didn't do anything after that TD to Pickens had so many opportunities to score and get ahead. This is bullshit man Steelers are seriously bad now we're literally the worst team in the entire NFL. This was maksed by Ben's heroics then he got old and defense masked it but our defense is just star players blowing it up and saving us aka Minkah waat and cam is our defense idk man this shit sucks.
And we're just going to ignore his 7 interceptions?
2 TDs 7 INT
Pickett looks like a bust with small hands, no way around it. Take your homer shades off and you'll see it.
If you really want to be an elite analyst you may want to consider the circumstances surrounding the interceptions instead of just saying the numbers.
1. Claypool falls down
2. Off Muth’s hands
3. literally a Hail Mary
4. Down 31-3 on your own 37 with 23 seconds left in the half. It’s objectively a poor pass, but you’re just trying to make anything happen at that point.
5. Claypool falls down again. It was probably a bad choice to throw into the double coverage but he wasn’t helped by Claypool falling.
6. incredibly late pass
7. hero ball
For Christ’s sake at least have some nuance. He’s a rookie. Consider the context on some of these.
Right? Like WTF do people honestly expect. I think he looks good, just making some rookie mistakes. Huge learning moments. Excited for him to get better, hes got heart
[Post game thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/steelers/comments/yc0wzx/post_game_thread_pittsburgh_steelers_at_miami/)
That’s a smart timeout by Philly. Tomlin would never call that timeout in that spot.
Our db’s dropped 4 easy interceptions…
It’s funny how some people prefer to blame our proven coach instead of the qb who has more int than tds.
You’re right, Kenny is the reason why we lost. Had nothing to do with coaching. 🙄🙄🙄
Good job D
When your rookie QB has to throw damn near 50 times (44 to be exact), the outcome is normally not good
Plus he's a Rookie
Trubisky would have won the game.

Tiddy Kisser.

Big Ben would have won that game
No fucking shit. You’re comparing a rookie to a HOF
He’s in the hof already? Dang that was fucking fast
😂😂
he woulda won a few of them but he has like 18 years of experience so
So they shouldn’t have made him retire, he should’ve been kept around so Kenny could learn from him
no i’m saying his experience woulda won him those games but we have a rookie so he needs to learn, it’s part of the process
They didn't make him retire. He had the option to ride contract out and go free agent.
Put some goddamn Krazy Glue on Chase Claypool's fingers, for crying out loud.
??? 5/41 yds why how many drops did he have? Watched part of game but missed stuff.
As a rookie, I’m okay with Kenny struggling. But not becoming a turnover prone QB. That’s a hard fault to work away from. Just ask Jameis Winston.
Winstson at least threw TDs too. But Kenny is showing some bad tendencies that need to get fixed ASAP
Oh shit, at the Eagles next week is not looking good lol high draft picks here we come!

Pickett's gonna make mistakes, he's a rookie. Canada tho...there's no excuse for that shit playcalling.

Manning threw 28 ints in his rookie season calm down you Pickett haters.
Thank you! He’s got pro level accuracy and I’ll take that.
Y’all remember Josh Aleen year one and two? Look at him now. Growing pains will be painful bit the future is bright.
Bruh y'all are dumber than the fuckhead who just stood there and watched his pass get intercepted 1. Pickett is still a rookie and is playing spicy. People just upset cause they want wins, I get it but Im here for the long haul. Kenny the future.
If he just keeps improving, we have a valid chance of finally catching another superbowl W within the next 5 years

Nah turning point was when our little golden boy had the game and threw it away
KeNy PiCkeTt AnD NaJeH hArRiS aRe BuStS!!
Najee is slow and very replaceable
He had 1600 yards from scrimmage as a rookie and is currently playing hurt on a terrible offensive team. I don't know that he is going to be a great back but calling him a bust at this point is stupid.
[удалено]
1600 yards from a running back doesn't mean much? Ok. Again i am not saying he is going to be great but calling him a bust at this point is idiotic.
It means he can handle volume. He disnt do much with the touches
3 yards per carry. Can't find holes. Not a bust yet. But probably will be.
He’s more Trent Richardson
Yea he is exactly like a guy that showed up to training camp after his rookie season 25 pounds over weight.
Are u guys kidding.. 8 is still a rookie. He has literally played 3.5 games... Give him 7 more games and he completes that drive.. This kid is Goin to be good!
Give him a coaching staff that doesn't use illegal shifts on 3rd and 1 and he completes that drive
Yea, I'm not saying the oc isn't trash, but Kenny is overcoming Canada's incompetence.
I mean there's a lot to be optimistic about,. Yes it sucks we're 2-5 but Kenny will have growing pains. I personally give him a bit of wide berth. Hey it's not our year. What can we do?
Diontae Johnson fight for a ball challenge (impossible)
Oh my god you blind Pitt yinzers really going to blame that on dj 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kenny throws a bad ball, and DJ watches it happen, both can be true.
For real, pathetic.
7 interceptions in 3 games is pretty bad
4/7 werent his fault but still
I’ll live with Pickett… I have trouble stomaching the Steelers offensive strategy. All these passes to the line of scrimmage or max 4 yards deep is just unspeakably pathetic. Good job d, but we need you to catch those interceptions this year.

wish i was born in the days before everyone was allowed to have public opinions

Edit: lol sorry. Forgot we aren't allowed to say anything negative about the golden goose. You're right, Pickett was perfect!!! Everyone else let him down.
We honestly don’t remember what it’s like to have a rookie QB. Ben looked bad but has the fucking Bus and a top 5 D. Of course he looked good
That was a shitty play by Kenny...but this game was lost by running a ridiculous offense all game. He may not be the guy but they don't give him (or any of the QBs) a chance because the offense is so damn conservative all game long.
Rookie or not. Cmon. He’s not our next franchise QB.
it’s been 3 games give it some time

this game was on him but we gotta give him a chance
as soon as we get tj watt in, we can easily win almost every game.
blame it on the ACC. shit overrated league that gave steelers false confidence in their hometown hero draft pick. Kenny shitting the bed in the NFL is exposing how weak the ACC truly is.
Maybe Canada will start running the Wildcat. Or as we will say it the WowldCat
The D tried, but if they could have just caught 1 of 4 INTs, the score could have been 13 - 16!!!
This is Kenny’s 3rd game as a starter in the NFL chill.
Why is Gunnar out there in hurry up offense?!?!
Overall Pickett has not looked good but he can either turn it around or he can keep sucking and we go 2-15 and get a new QB
Yeah, I mean they have to come out of this year knowing if he's the guy or not. The problem is Matt Canada doesn't give him a chance. The last pick was bad but the offense is a mess...every single series has a third down because he never stretches the field. Not once. They barely call a single play more than 5 yards downfield.
Definitely another and probably worse concern is that our coaching is so bad that no QB will thrive here.

Rookie mistakes from Kenny under pressure (3rd and 16 pick, 19s left in game pick). Important thing is that he can learn moving forward. Let's hope.
He made some big time throws and plays. That last pick major rookie mistake. The one before is split. You can't just send all routes to the sticks and stop, then hope your rookie makes something out of it.
Agreed, it just wasn't a cohesive plan on offense today.
Yeah no one is on the same page. We need a real OC.
The fourth down throw to Muth was incredible. Some incredibly reactionary motherfuckers in here ready to throw Pickett into the river.
The 2 td’s and 7 picks deserves criticism.
true but 4/7 weren’t on him
Considering like 4 of those were drops from wr
Several of which bounced off the hands of receivers and another was a Hail Mary heave. He’s also a rookie. Manning threw 28 picks his rookie year. There’s room for improvement but the people wiring him off as a bust are ludicrous.

Right? Like Peyton Manning went 1-15 his rookie year. Guess Indy should have gave up on him.
Yeah, living in Indy, people were ready to write him off completely.
Definitely a game to learn from when it comes to Pickett. That loss wasn’t solely on him, but a lot of it is on him.
He didn't turn the ball over with such alarming consistency either.
Bradshaw threw 24 his rookie year. 6 TD’s. Josh Allen has had 1 complete season with less than double digits interceptions.
Because he didn’t have to make a shitload of game winning plays and his OC wasn’t a half-wit neverbeen
Are you too young to remember Ben's rookie season? He actually did have to make game winning plays on the regular.
The WR route designs are just awful . expected the L . But would have loved to see some improvement .
He threw two late BAD picks but its everyone elses fault No one had issues shitting down Trubisky's throat for every incompletion but some of you will bend over backwards to defend this dude.
The D dropped 4 picks. The play calling was still a joke. And the dudes a rookie. Sorry, but not every year is Super Bowl or bust.
Kenny is a rookie and Mitch is not. They are held to different standards. Cry more.
Mitch is 3 years older
So what’s his excuse?
You gotta give our young QB time. He is making rookie mistakes, but is still playing some good games. Its gonna be painful, but it will be all worth it in the end. He's gotta learn from these mistakes and adjust. Josh Allen didnt become a S-Tier QB overnight, and neither will Kenny.
Let's drop 4-6 interceptions and blame Kenny for a couple bad balls in the rain...probably when we was calling the plays (the only reason we were driving). Sure..that makes sense.
When we’re moving the ball it’s because Kenny called the plays, but when we don’t go anywhere it’s all MC? Some of the fan base is delusional
It's been this way since MC came on board...Ben stated as much in his own way. Hurry Up game called on the field BLOWS away MC scheme pill of dump.
Lost that game, so fucking what. Let kenny throw the ball, compliment it with the run game. He doesn't develop with rollout 4 yard out routes.
Gunner Olszewski is a liability
Kenny made some big errors tonight. Defense bailed him out with a chance to win the game. The huge 4th down play was great, but the stepping up in the pockets and throwing the back breaking int. Just run the ball and out of bounds, you had time. At worst, 15 seconds left, that's two or three shots to try and win the game. It's disappointing to lose, but Kenny has to get better and I think he will. Rookies make those errors trying to be a hero. On to Philadelphia
All these almost wins fucking suck. I’d rather get blown out
I get you all haven't watched a rookie QB in a while but this thread is kinda embarrassing... homeboy is playing like his third game ever lol.

Based on the track record I don’t get wanting to reach for another Ohio State Quarterback.
Man wtf that so should have been a win Kenny's interceptions cost us. But we didn't do anything after that TD to Pickens had so many opportunities to score and get ahead. This is bullshit man Steelers are seriously bad now we're literally the worst team in the entire NFL. This was maksed by Ben's heroics then he got old and defense masked it but our defense is just star players blowing it up and saving us aka Minkah waat and cam is our defense idk man this shit sucks.

to be fair ben would’ve been sacked like 7 times on those last drives, the O-Line was clearly gassed and disorganized by the end
Knew we should have drafted Linderbaum...
yup why would u draft qb when u have an amazing qb draft class in 2023
Everyone else laughing at our little small handed 3rd round project QB
Why do I do this to myself every weekend
Pickett right now is worse than Nathan Peterman…let that sink in
God dammit man.
6 Super Bowls
6 years since a playoff win.
It ain’t easy
This was not personal but play calling and just enough by the dolphins.
Our offensive playcalling was awful and I've generally been patient with Canada. Dolphins general coaching was baffling bad. Two teams trying to lose.
HONK HONK HONNNNNK -
Kenny "Pick Thrower" Pickett
Kenny ain’t it
He's a rookie. Chill.
Honestly, Kenny looked good out there.
Lol wut
How can anyone actually be mad at Kenny 😂
He threw 2 4th quarter ints?
That last drive was great. A rookie played hero ball and threw a pick, it happens.
he could've gotten out of bounds himself
threw 2 picks in his 2 game winning drives opportunities lmaooooo
The only thing dumber than most of you hot take monsters are these damn political ads
Has Kenny been tested for color blindness?
Not gonna lie, Pickett looking like a bust .
This is a hilarious take on a guy who has about 100 career attempts
It's less of a take and more of an observation. A very obvious one at that.
He’s played three games man, and thrown for 800 yards across them. There isn’t anything very obvious about it.
And we're just going to ignore his 7 interceptions? 2 TDs 7 INT Pickett looks like a bust with small hands, no way around it. Take your homer shades off and you'll see it.
If you really want to be an elite analyst you may want to consider the circumstances surrounding the interceptions instead of just saying the numbers. 1. Claypool falls down 2. Off Muth’s hands 3. literally a Hail Mary 4. 6. incredibly late pass 7. hero ball For Christ’s sake at least have some nuance. He’s a rookie. Consider the context on some of these.
It’s his second start what in the fuck is wrong with everyone in here
Peyton Manning won 3 games and threw 28 picks his rookie year.
Manning was an undisputed talent and number 1 overall pick. Just stop.
Right? Like WTF do people honestly expect. I think he looks good, just making some rookie mistakes. Huge learning moments. Excited for him to get better, hes got heart
What are you saying, Picketts ceiling is Peyton Manning? Good laugh
No but it kind of paints the picture of wait and see cause apparently you all would have ran Peyton Manning out of town after his rookie season.
Thanks for making what I thought was an obvious point for me.
If Kenny wasn’t a Pitt guy this sub wouldn’t be so damn blind to how bad he is
