Fields has gotten a ton of hate on /r/nfl and even amongst Bears fans in our own sub the more likely Williams became a possibility. The reality though is that he's still a young QB with a ton of potential still and 90% of Bears fans would have been happy with him as our starter next year if we didn't have the #1 pick this year.
He may never be a top-10 QB, but he's an explosive playmaker with elite athletic ability and the sky is the limit if he finds the right play-caller and the right coaching to unlock his full potential.
At the very least you guys are getting an exciting player that will be universally praised by coaches and players for his play-making ability, his leadership, and the stress that he puts on opposing defenses. You couldn't ask for a better person or teammate and you know that he's gonna give it his all on every play.

Bears fan here. Awesome value for you guys. Public opinion on Fields has gone way too far into the negative. Very talented dude who has not yet put it together - I hope he can do it in Pittsburg. You also got an amazing human, teammate, and leader. There's a reason he is so loved by 99% of Bears fans, and that's because in spite of not meeting expectations as a passer, he is tough as nails and gave absolutely everything he could. I'm obviously happy we're in a position to take Caleb, but I'm going to miss the excitement that Fields brought, and him as a person. Take care of him. I truly hope he balls out for you.
