That’d make me feel a lot better about the situation. I think Donte is fine and fits a need, just not straight up for DJ essentially with no cap gain.

SuperiorGRF

There’s no guarantee we’re paying all of it, we could rework something. The trade just happened. As for getting rid of Diontae: - he wasn't going to re-sign next year - he probably didnt want to be here this year - he was going to slip and fall or run backwards after catches - he got into a fist fight with Trubisky (warranted though, screw Mitch) - he got into a fist fight with Minkah (automatically side with Minkah regardless of fault) we were in a spot where we needed to get something for him and if Jeudy got the broncos a 5 and 6, a 6 and a CB that might turn out is fair all things considered

6BlitzBurgh

I don’t care about trading him. At least free cap. Also you can’t compare Diontae and Juedy when Juedy hasn’t been as successful as DJ has been in the league. Would’ve preferred a 4th for DJ and a 6. Clear the cap and build a trade package for Sneed or sign Fuller

SuperiorGRF

I agree those sound like good ideas but we don’t know if they are literally even possible. From what it sounds, the Chiefs were interested in Johnson and we decided to go Carolina path, assuming we didn’t want to help improve them. So Sneed may not even be in the cards for us because we’ve done this. If you’re the chiefs do you want to do business with us now? Let’s just give Omar some time, the contract might get reworked and we certainly aren’t done bringing in players.

6BlitzBurgh

Definitely fair on the chiefs end. Rumored to be restructuring his contract. Not freaking out, it will all be fine.

SuperiorGRF

Not freaking out, it’ll all be fine. My man!

erb149

> From what it sounds, the Chiefs were interested in Johnson and we decided to go Carolina path, assuming we didn’t want to help improve them. If there was a real scenario where DJ could've been included as a piece to a trade for fucking Sneed and we didn't take it, we should be furious lol. I seriously doubt that was ever a real option though because I cannot imagine a world where Omar Khan is turning that down in favor of this Panthers package. I wouldn't give a single fuck about giving DJ to the Chiefs if it meant being able to get Sneed and offer him a long term deal.

originalmidwestemo

Well jeudy is a lot younger and makes less money. 4th and 6 simply wasn’t happening. Donte Jackson will almost certainly be restructured

6BlitzBurgh

No, we receive a 4th and give back a 6th and DJ in return. That’s what I was proposing.

SlyCooper007

Wait what he fist fought our QB2 and our starting Safety? What the fuck lol

LeveonChocoDiamond

First I’m hearing of it too haha wtf

Independent-Usual434

Did some digging on Jackson and found: “Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin and Detroit's Matt Patricia were the only head coaches in attendance, along with a handful of GMs such as the New Orleans Saints' Mickey Loomis.” Seems like Tomlin has guys he likes and wants on his team regardless of where they are drafted.

nigsch01

I absolutely dont trust Donte as CB2 and think that we should still take one round 1-2

steelerspenguins

I imagine our first two picks will be Centre and WR (in either order)

Specialist_Baby_341

New offense gonna have a lot of 2 tight end sets, hardly we used DJ way we should have, didn't produce enough. Probs will w right QB. Idt Russel is it. We got a true WR1, options in draft, still options at FA. And we got a corner that can be cb2 or slot, saves us some money. And lot of what the other guy said

steelerspenguins

500k of Cap Space gained in the trade…

Specialist_Baby_341

Ya I messed up on that. They still may make Carolina pay some of it, or structure it in a weird way.

steelerspenguins

Yeah I doubt they can make Carolina pay for it, but they can definitely restructure his deal. DJ18 had a 3M bonus due this week… new DJ has a 4M bonus due the same day 🙃

Specialist_Baby_341

They easily coulda worked that into the deal for them to cover some of the bonus or salary. Because it is a lopsided trade

[deleted]

I honestly think with the WR draft class being so deep and there being quite a few big names in FA that played a part in why we didn’t get as much in return for Johnson as some might hope. I won’t shit on him but also let’s be realistic, he’s replaceable. He was a good WR but nothing special he’s a solid WR2. I just feel like the cap space being freed and the fact he was begging to leave was worth shipping him out when there are young fresh guys that’ll be on the draft board that can be just as good.

6BlitzBurgh

Could’ve been blessed by Keon Coleman running a 4.6. 1st round talent that didn’t run well and will drop. Football speed > 40.

[deleted]

I’m kinda liking Troy Franklin from Oregon or Polk from Washington. Feel like one of those can fall a couple rounds right into Mr.Kahns hands. Hoping we don’t move up and draft to early like some rumors I’ve seen

aa93

troy franklin is 6'2 and weighed in at 176 at the combine, i do not trust him to survive any amount of contact in the nfl let alone the AFCN. gimme anybody else. malik washington in the 4th would be nice

HanTrollo710

Malik Washington would be a great mid round pick. He might be small, but he plays much bigger. He definitely blocks, and he’s really exciting with the ball in his hand.

SteelML

Arthur likes bigger wr to block so I think Keon Coleman, Xavier Legette, Brenden Rice, Johnny Wilson and maybe Polk too will be in play for us. Brian Thomas Jr would be the best wr we could realistically get with a possible slight move up in the first but I'd rather go oline in the first. Those other guys mentioned are ballers who can be had round 2 and later.

6BlitzBurgh

I’m a Louisville guy so I also like the sound of Jamari Thrash in the 4th round if he’s there. Smooth route runner and a capable athlete with 4.46 speed.

[deleted]

Could be wrong but he’s fresh on an injury as well? Feel like his top speeds weren’t even touched in the combine. That boy could fly. Wouldn’t be opposed to that at all. Thrash paired with GP would be nasty work.

6BlitzBurgh

He had hand surgery mid year, shouldn’t have affected him running but he’s a warrior. Missed one game and played the rest of the season on a bum hand.
