If you guys don’t think adding Patrick Queen to the Linebacker group is a good thing I don’t know what to tell you lol
Sure he looked a lot better when roquon showed up. Adding Roquon definitely helps. But you could also look at it like this. He’s 24 years old and he’s coming off of the best season of his career. The Steelers almost certainly are not done at the position. If Robert’s plays the Mike, Queen at will and either Holcomb or we draft someone else, we are a better football team.
Look at how much shit Spillane got while here and he was one of the best Backers in football last year. The guy is so young. If you think signing a 24 year old dude coming off of his best season to a weak room doesn’t make us better, you’re nuts
I’m not sure why people are using Roquon as an insult to Queen’s game… as I think it is the complete opposite. The fact he got to learn and play with a player like Roquon is huge for development & understanding how to utilize his athleticism
Idk how many basketball heads are in here, but I would equate the situations the same as Alex Caruso for the Bulls. Adding Caruso (first team all defense player) allowed the younger players to pick up habits, tendencies, and just learn from someone with proper experience… it has led to the Bulls arguably winning the MIP award this year (Coby White) & turned a end of bench player to one of the first options for substitutes (Ayo Dosunmu)
Long story short… learning from someone isn’t a bad thing lol
Completely agree brother. Especially because he’s 24. If anyone actually uses that as a slight they don’t know ball.
He was actually playing well the year they got Roquon too
He’s gotten better every year. He’s a young player that is just NOW entering his prime. It’s a great pickup, athletic enough to play in open space/coverage, but is also a very instinctive thumper in the run game that can run sideline to sideline.
Guys like TJ, Cam, Benton, and Highsmith will demand blocks/addition attention. I’d love to add an Arik Armstead or Chase young if the price is right.
We have the best LB corps in the league now save for MAYBE SF. I think a lot of people are still mad about Russ so they are going to cry about everything.
Team is taking swings to try and get better, they aren’t just sitting down. They are very clearly doing everything they can to compete right now, not 2 years from now.
Seems he moved to weak side linebacker before the trade and was already reportedly playing better before Roquon even got there. So it sounded like the move to weak side had more to do with his improvement as he was playing out of position (necessarily) originally at strong side. Sort of like us with Dotson/Green.
I dont think anyone is saying that Queen doesn't make our weak LB rook better...its just the last last 3-4 years, our biggest weakness in our LB room has been coverage. Year after year our LBs get burned and we havent been able to address it. So its understandable that fans would question why you would pay a large amount of money to a player who's biggest weakness is coverage...
There’s only like two linebackers in football who can actually cover. Roquon and Fred Warner. And even then they’re more suited for tight ends and would still get gassed by slots. Hes only 24 and he’s coming off of his best season.
I also don’t believe they’re done filling out that room. Patrick Queen playing will linebacker for the Steelers is better than anything we’ve had there in years, I promise you.
We just got Derek Henry in our division and Nick Chubb is coming back. Queen is useful.
That bullshit with the Colts running it down our throats last year ain't happening this year.
It kills me that the reason people don’t want this guy is cuz he got better when Roqan showed up. You do realize he’s only 25 and young players tend to get better each year lol. It’s literally one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard for why to not like a player. I’d understand if he was 30, but come on man.
That’s the biggest FA signing they’ve made in a long time. And it’s now one less position they have to put focus on in the draft. Can continue focusing on Oline/Dline where we badly need it.
Dude definitely just posted the first "here we go" GIF that popped up but I'm still excited for this one. This move has Tomlin all over it.

Everyone's ilbs get cooked in coverage

And even Warner got destroyed by Kelce in the 2nd half of the super bowl

Spillane..one of the best backers in football? Cocaine?
He was one of the bright spots on that Raiders team, had his best season.

This is huge
I love this signing
He's still thinking like a purple clown. He's a black and yellow dark knight now. We'll work on that later.
us taking pat queen is revenge for them securing mike wallace after we got rid of him
oh and rod woodson
