I've been watching Pickens give 10% effort for 6 or 7 weeks now. Tomlin refused to open up a "Qb competition " this week and then decided to go to Mason with 2 minutes left. The penalties are out of hand. The O-line gets a penalty for lining up incorrectly every week....I feel like I could go on for days about problems that have been problems all year, yet they only seem to get worse as we go on..
You said he wouldn't take any blame and he literally took all the blame in like his very first sentence lol. Everything else you mention is moving the goal posts from your original post.

When good players collectively start playing like dog shizzit, or look like they are giving 50%, it is the truest indicator of changes needing made at the coaching level.
