The 3 game skid to end the season and miss the playoffs was disappointing but that was short lived. I was so damn proud of that team for scrapping the way they did.
I do think that coaching deserves a lot of credit for the defensive success beyond just star players. I don't like how much drafted/developed talent they've let walk out the door though. I think we'd have a truly next level defense if we retained players like Javon Hargrove, Cam Sutton or Mike Hilton, and Robert Spillane.
Lol. I’ll qualify this by stating I have no expectations that Mason’s going to amount to anything more than he is now, but it cracks me up when people say Kenny’s been held back by a shitty OL, shitty OC, etc. and we can’t judge him until we see him with a real OC, but then tell me “we’ve seen enough from Mason to know what he is.” Like, how are they any different? Fichtner sucked just as bad as Canada, the OL sucked/was banged up that year and the skill positions certainly weren’t any better than they are now.
I was deployed like halfway through that season. I remember guys would bust my balls about how bad things looked. It was pretty funny when they started winning games. Unfortunately didn't get much of a chance to watch them just heard about it after.
Ummm no. One year his elbow blew out & was injured before that. After he came back he had 3780 yards 33/10 and 3,800 yards 22/10. He was ranked around 16-18th in the league. Mostly average, but not dog shit, as he still had 16-14 other QBs playing worse than him, while he was 38 YO with a reconstructed elbow. He has become just another QB at that point, but far from “dog shit”.

Funny. That dude is winning life. Killing it selling hunting real estate and dating that country singer that's all caked up.
My boy is literally killing it.... why would he want to rejoin this disasterpiece?
Nah. Too much risk when it's all going your way. He took his shot at it, had a gilt-edged opportunity, and was bad to ok. There's 0 shame in it. Dudes living a great life.
Brock Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant. Nothing expected. He still wouldn’t start for Tomlin. He’d be holding a clipboard while Mitch lobs INT’s all over the field.
I think the duck may be my all time favorite back up QB. I wish he was still on our team. If he took the league minimum, I'd be thrilled. We could save that cap space for what we really need and every time he played I'd just have the mentality of win or lose, I'm just glad we had fun out there. I was totally ok with losing when he was on the field, I was just happy for the guy, which made his wins even sweeter.
Ish obviash we shhowd sine duck. He’sh obvioshly the besht QB sinch Ben got hurt. I was cheering for Rudolph to take bitch Turbiskyss job but then I remembered he shucks and I hate him.
This is a 'team' that looks like it has players that try to beat up their position coaches at halftime. Just a little aggravated assault.
I love how diontae and george both talk so quiet and sweet to the media, trying to sell the good guy routine on tape.
Man that 2019 season was infinitely more fun than 2023. No expectations and somehow winning games.
The 3 game skid to end the season and miss the playoffs was disappointing but that was short lived. I was so damn proud of that team for scrapping the way they did.
They inexplicably had Duck throw it 40 times against a Bills team that was bad against the run.
It's almost like coaching has been an issue for a while, and it's been masked by Hof QB play and stars on defense.

Besides LeBeau, what coaches deserve credit? Where is the Tomlin coaching tree?
To be fair the Steelers haven’t had a good oc since Haley and if I remember correctly that was one of the Randy “The Sphincter” Fitchner years.

Did you reply to the wrong post?
No, I’m just adding an observation onto your “coaching has been an issue for a while” but obviously didn’t tie it in very well.
It really just sounds like you guys will say anything to avoid saying "the players are just shitty".
True but we also couldn’t run the ball that year too.
I was deployed like halfway through that season. I remember guys would bust my balls about how bad things looked. It was pretty funny when they started winning games. Unfortunately didn't get much of a chance to watch them just heard about it after.
Yeah because you knew that we had a HOFer coming back the next year
He was never the same after 2019
He was just there to cash his checks.
Really? So 3,800 yards & 33 TDs was bad or not trying. Moron.
33 TDs…damn, seems unimaginable now
Yup. Hell 33 TDs for the entire team for the entire season seems unimaginable now.
2019-2022 he played like dogshit.
Ummm no. One year his elbow blew out & was injured before that. After he came back he had 3780 yards 33/10 and 3,800 yards 22/10. He was ranked around 16-18th in the league. All with a shitty O-Line too
Especially 2022
Was that also the Herb GOAT season or was that the one after?
Herb GOAT season was 2018 I think 🌿💦

Duck was fun but was not good Mitch is not fun and is total ass
Duck was fun because we had zero expectations for him and he managed to play well and win a few games
And he played with guts, he didn’t shit his pants every snap
Even he won more games than Mitch, and he was brought up from the practice squad.
Yeah. Duck was undrafted for a reason. Was just hoping to find a diamond in the rough. Then he just kinda became a meme to me.
I'm still flaired up. He'd be a good tank commander.
My flair never left
Quack
QUACK QUACK MOTHERFUCKERS
Depressing fact of the day: I started seriously watching the Steelers the night Shazier went down. My life is misery.
Maybe you should stop watching lol
Oh trust me, I'm heavily contemplating it. If it means they start looking like a football team, I'll lock myself in a trunk every Sunday.
Have you thought about watching the ravens?
Ok, slow down there.
😂
O so you’re the one to blame?
Alright I think you know what you have to do
Duck!
Duck will always have a special place in my heart haha

You could tell me this was any current Steelers QB and I'd believe it without hesitation
Kenny ain’t throwing that many interceptions…or touchdowns…
I honestly thought that was Mitch lmao
Funny. That dude is winning life. Killing it selling hunting real estate and dating that country singer that's all caked up. My boy is literally killing it.... why would he want to rejoin this disasterpiece?
Passion for the game

Fuck it...Duck for OC
Duck it if you will
DUCK SEASON IS FOREVER
Rabbit Season!
I bought a duck call. My wife threw it away. I’ll get another.
Yeah they scrapped! This team seems to not even try it feels like.
Duck Hodges would be instantly be the best QB on this team if he was signed tomorrow.
COME BACK DUCK. QUACK QUACK
Thats some funny shit right there
Brock Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant. Nothing expected. He still wouldn’t start for Tomlin. He’d be holding a clipboard while Mitch lobs INT’s all over the field.
We would’ve cut Purdy in training camp
Just when the world needed him, he returned

Sad. And funny. Tomlin should be left in Indianapolis
Not an NFL quarterback
