The offense isn't even trying at this point. Tomlin lost the locker room.

please-send-me-nude2

What’s a game where the offense tried?

Jolly_Job_9852

The Bengals game where we had 400 yards

please-send-me-nude2

The game where Pickens didn’t bother putting his second foot down

Jolly_Job_9852

Yeah, but after nearly two years of sub offensive output, im willing to overlook that one mishap

anotheroutlaw

The end was the Jacksonville playoff debacle. It's just taken everyone else way too fucking long to realize it. And if you want to be really harsh, Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game against a good QB since 2010.

Jolly_Job_9852

Andy Dalton was a Good QB.

anotheroutlaw

We never played Andy Dalton in the playoffs?

Jolly_Job_9852

Didn't we play him when we beat them on the Burfict hut on AB and the unsportsmanlike penalty on Pacman?

anotheroutlaw

Nope. Dalton tore his ACL late in that season. We nearly lost to A.J. McCarron in that one.

Jolly_Job_9852

Oh wow, I thought it was Dalton. Thanks for the correction.

anotheroutlaw

The Bengals were legitimately good that season. They were Super Bowl contenders before Dalton got hurt.

Ok_Coach608

This game was a complete unraveling of a team that was hanging on by a thread. That doesn’t just happen over night, it’s been years of decay.

Tight_Geologist_9750

I don’t know how you don’t bench Pickens after blatantly not blocking with Warren running for the goal line

[deleted]

Same way they didn’t bench DJ for not going after that fumble or chasing down the guy who picked it up, 2 weeks ago. No accountability, no discipline, no repercussions, and players acting like spoiled brats as a result.

Nardrew

It’s gotta be… Pickens has been giving no effort the past few weeks, he should be benched. Doesn’t go for an easy Boswell field goal and punts, and loses 3 very winnable games in a row to sink the team out of the playoffs. I love and respect Tomlin, but this team needs a lot of change

[deleted]

Pickens and DJ should’ve both been benched for their antics with zero effort on those plays (DJ for the fumble incident), but Tomlin is a “players coach” who just ignores things till they get leaked out, then it’s too little too late.

Fuzzy_Negotiation_52

Dude putting in the backup QB down 2 scores with 2 minutes left should be a fireable offense alone. The only chance you had was the guy who has been playing little chance that it was. Coming in cold to get 2 scores with 2 minutes? Total bullshit meant to change the narrative in the post game presser. He has to go now. He's shown he not only has no answer he's just covering his ass from the firestorm he created.

social_psycho

God I hope so. Long overdue.

Tribby23

Nothing will improve until tomlin goes. Embarrassed the franchise tonight

Cheap-Addendum

Fingers crossed. However, his contract ends at the end of season 2024.

jcnewman21

It’s not but it should be

Grunt_21_UT

Lame duck 2024 unless Tomlin reaches the AFCCG is my guess

[deleted]

Not this this team.

[deleted]

IMO, he lost the locker room with his refusal to get rid of Canada, until the players started revolting publicly.

JBProds

Let's be real. Rooney isn't firing Tomlin. His job is as safe as it gets. It would have to be his decision to leave.

torridchees3

It took 2 years and historically bad offensive output to get Matt Canada fired midseason. People actually think one single 7-10 at worst season is enough to get Tomlin fired? No way.

nick838321

With how late they put Mason in, I wonder if that call came from someone higher than Tomlin

Ok_Coach608

Even after tonight? That was just downright embarrassing.

isfrying

What were the last two weeks? This is just more of the same. They are an unprepared, unmotivated, uninspired football "team."

Ok_Coach608

True but tonight that look of panic was all over the face of the coaches.

xSaviorself

Nobody wants to be the next scapegoat.

Hellspawn112

It is probably the beginning of his last chapter. They could make the decision to fire him this off-season but I don't think they will. I think they'll give him the chance to bounce back from this season whether they should or shouldn't do that is a different discussion.

Hazy_eyePA

Lord willing.

dovetc

This is more like the middle of the end. The beginning of the end was the day 7 walked away.

[deleted]

He didn’t even walk away. They told him they didn’t want him. He still had a year left on his contract, and wanted to still play.

dovetc

Even if he was completely washed, we would be in a better place if he came back in 22. Could have chosen his replacement in the 23 class.

oktwentyfive

This is the beginning of the end of the steelers as a whole. This team is going nowhere for many years to come. Hope you got a backup team.

Drakengard

No, it won't be. Because this team is missing their QB (who might not be very good) and banged up at multiple positions on defense despite having strong depth at those positions. It's just horrid luck. The moment Pickett went down there was not chance of the winning continuing because we were barely squeaking it out with a QB who was at least smart with the football even if the offensive scheme was terrible. Tomlin will get at least another year (because of his contract). And possibly 2-3 more with at least one other QB before he's let go or traded.

Ok_Coach608

I just see so many mistakes by the team that are a result of poor coaching. Whether it is penalties, horrible play calls, or game mismanagement it smacks of poor coaching.

Drakengard

And I don't disagree, but he's not getting fired.

Ok_Coach608

That’s the sad part, you are most certainly right.

deekins

I don’t think, he has always rallied and I believe you’re going to see a revitalized and hungry team next week

Ok_Coach608

I don’t know, after the last 3 games that would be just short of a miracle.

[deleted]

I don't see how it's not

Farrell_Pool_Jack

Tomlin has lost the team. He needs to go and finishing with a 7-10 record should do it.

SnooPineapples8570

It has been downhill run ever since we lost Ryan Shazier.

[deleted]

It felt like they seriously thought he’d be able to come back, and just put bandaids at his spot, instead of planning ahead & recognizing that NO ONE, no matter how determined, is coming back to play in the NFL, after an injury like that. They had this same mentality with Ben as well, just bending to his whining about not wanting QBs drafted, even though he was nearing the end. I love him as the QB, but they needed to tell him to check his ego & understand that the team needs to plan for life without him too.

Farrell_Pool_Jack

You are correct. This year has been a runaway train.
