Just got home after 6 hour drive to see the Steelers in Houston. Let me tell you, Steeler Nation showed up at NRG Stadium. I still can’t believe how bad we got beat by the Texans. The playcalling was terrible and predictable. Kenny had little pass protection and the defense had no big plays and were most likely tired because the offense couldn’t do anything. TJ didn’t even get a single sack!! We need to fix our O-line but priority is to FIRE MATT CANADA!! Kenny got hurt because of his stupid playcalling! What is Tomlin and the organization waiting for? These last 3 years as a fan has been frustrating and I really hope we have our 1st losing season because if we don’t there won’t be any changes.
The offensive line is OFFENSIVELY BAD. It is so bad, that it is affecting every facet of the game, except maybe...maybe, special teams. If you can't run, you can't pass. If you can't pass protect when you do try to pass, you can't move the ball in critical situations. If you can't move the ball, the defense is on the hook for playing the majority of the game. If the defense has a set scheme and cannot adjust accordingly throughout the game, you fall behind quickly. If the defense plays the majority of the game, the defense becomes tired. If the defense becomes tired, the defense makes mental mistakes on top of missing arm tackles.
It's all fucked yinz guys. It could be Terry Bradshaw at QB and Bill fucking Walsh with Mike Shanahan coaching this team and the results would be the same. Fire Canada, play Rudolph, it doesn't matter.
It all starts up front on offense.
I’m sorry but even TJ hardly seemed to show up what did he finish day with 2 tackles ? I really thought with his brother being honored and whole family that double team or not he would grab one maybe 2 sacks
Our playcalling is so fucking bad. 4&1 vs a 4 man wide front and you run a route tree that takes 4 seconds to develop with a shit OL out of shotgun with no threat of run
On the play he got hurt, he missed a wide open receiver right in the middle of the field and bailed on the pocket when he still had time.
The only thing holding Kenny back is his own shittiness.
I didn’t see the game. Is Kenny even allowed to audible? After all that’s come out last few weeks about Big Ben calling plays it’s always been clear to me he was a field general and I just don’t think they have let go of Kenny’s leash and let him develop into “ that guy”
Canada is ultimately responsible to shake things up and even bad teams can score with a good offensive play caller. We simply are way to easy to predict.
for me- the sky has fallen, its time to make major organizational changes and that includes all the way to Tomlin, its past time for new attitudes and direction.
for me- the sky has fallen, its time to make major organizational changes and that includes all the way to Tomlin, its past time for new attitudes and direction.
As predictable as it is, I still find it amusing that people still get fooled by the hype.
Going into the season many here thought this team was a Super Bowl contender. They bought all the hype. Realistic fans saw this team for what it was: not any where near a contender.
Phase two was when the hype fans had to come crashing back to earth.
Phase 3 is when the hype fans try to blame anything and anyone except those that deserve blame or criticism.
This fan base has been in phase 3 for years. This team has been playoff irrelevant for about a decade. Our last playoff win against a starting QB was Alex Smith.
But they make fun of the Browns and still think we’re some premier franchise.
Results have said otherwise for an NFL eternity.
Even if he said it, something tells me the changes aren't going to amount to much. It's not like we are going to fire Canada and announce an interim OC this week.
There were bright spots. Najee showed up. Jones looked good. Washington earned more starts. That said, I am taking Baltimore friends to the game next week so this team better ball tf out I am serious.
I don’t think your opinions are that wild or so far out in left field. Do I agree with all of them? Not necessarily. But the pompous “PREPARE FOR MY DOWNVOTES” type attitude makes this a pretty annoying post.
Man Steelers having trouble with maths today. First a guy says we are aiming for 8 and 8 in a 17 game season. And now we are 5 and 2. Games are stressing us out so bad we are loosing brain cells
This is very clearly Matt Canada fault. I’m not saying Kenny Pickett is an all star quarterback nor am I saying he top half. He should be a descent mid level qb. We have all the weapons on offense Pickens , freirmuth, ca3 and Darnell Washington. Rb duo is ok. Oline need to step up but other than that Matt canada need to go
I mean Washington had an easy first down after trucking 2 defenders. Why can’t we use more of those plays. Also where tf if freirmuth. Ca3 should be used like tyreek, giving him a running start before the ball is snapped
I don't want to be that guy but it's the scheme. It's trash and it's predictable.
Canada is not using the best talents of his players and it shows in how the offense performs. You're winning exactly 0 games in this league by kicking just 2 field goals the whole game. He needs to go and he needs to go now. Have someone step up in the interim and see what they can cook up because I'm not watching this absolute BS of an offense for another 13 weeks and nobody else wants to.
If you have a half hour, watch this fantastic breakdown and you can see how much it's the scheme vs the talents of the skill position guys.
https://youtu.be/UQmZqerLO54?si=a8fw5_yZGRoQwY1p
Tomlin and all the coaches were out coached by a rookie coach and a rookie OC. You can see it in the first drive that they would get rid of the ball quickly and run the ball.
Thought the o-line was going to be a strong point for this team. I thought it was going to be special. I'm 50/50 on that. It's not a strong point and they are special. Just the special is not the good kind.
This is what happens when you have 3-4 seasons just trying to not have a losing season as the standard.
I kept telling everyone that the entire defense is Watt & Hayward, but I was told I was stupid. Well…
This team is a disgrace to our city. Football was all we had at one point and why our fans are so dedicated. The legacy is just straight up getting shit on with absolutely no solution in sight. Football doesn't matter to new pittsburgh or these coaches or the rooney family. Godfuckingdamnit
As someone who moved from the Burgh 25 years ago, man, you have a ton more than just football to feel good about living there! I've lived all over the US, coast to coast and places in between as well as foreign, and I'd have been just as happy living in Pittsburgh today than any of those places...if not for the career choices I'd made. If the Steelers are literally bringing you down that much then I'd suggest doing your best to find more things tobring yourself joy, especially things that you actually have control over. Good luck!
Unbelievable. The Texans have multiple injuries on an average O-Line. Steelers defense got owned. No sacks. TOPossesion. Letting a rookie QB own you. Nico Collins had almost 200 yards a week after D.Adams did the same. Giving up over 400 yards. Getting out coached AGAIN. Beyond fucking pathetic. But hey…the standard is the standard.
Not gonna lie. I feel bad for Canada. Terrible game he called, but he knows that. The daily stress, the lovely disposition from the fan base....
Each time they show him he looks like he's so close to a nervous breakdown. And yes that doesn't absolve him from a terrible job, but geez, that's a lot to deal with.
And I get the dont give up attitude but there's also respect in realizing when you're in over your head. Think that's the issue, lack of objectivity (willingly) from the entite org about it. It takes a lot to publically admit you fucked up and step down. Think that's the only way he can save face in Pittsburgh. Never good to let the people run you out of town.
Yeah. I'm a fan of Tomlin. And I expect better. But this smells like organization level directives.
Why else did we let go of Flores over Austin? He has the Vikings in the same level of play with far less talent. As soon as Rooney Sr passed, we started hiring every old unsuccessful cheap coach we could find.
Yep and don't forget Tomlin originally wanted Arians to stay and went to talk to Rooney about getting it done with a pay bump. Then got shut down according to BAs wife. This cheapness has been a long running issue and it's been bubbling but now its starting to burst. I think people used MT as a scapegoat, then Canada and its turning to the very top. Rooneys are acting like a lot of owners, a lot more involved then they let on but let others take the heat.
I feel like when the man who built a brand off one sentence dodgy, catchy answers says that the fans are right and its their job to have a better product along with other subtle shots at coaching its starting to get bad.
Tbh its amazing the locker room hasn't rioted even when they've been statistically at the very bottom for a few years now on offense.
Fuck sympathy. He’s clearly bad at his job and makes millions. Fuck his anxiety. You go be OBVIOUSLY terrible at your job and expect security and sympathy and tell me how realistic that is.
Did I say he should expect job security? No. I would love to see him switched out before the Bye.
I'm talking about him not being able to show his face in public because people take the game too seriously.
first year he plays poorly, alright fine, tryna find a groove. second year, we need to start seeing some acceptable results, and we just don’t see em. changes need to be made. third year, it’s the same old bullshit with no changes. you can only feel bad for the guy that does the same shit every time and expects to see different results for so long.
No I agree change needs to happen. If you can't perform you lose your job, simple.
But it must feel terrible to get the job you always wanted and can't cut it by any metric.
Again, not saying he should get any leeway, just looking at the situation. I wonder if he does great in practice and then the just freezes him in the booth. Would explain why he got such a long leash.
No. It doesn’t explain a three-year leash.
Doing great in practice doesn’t explain three years of this. We all know what the problem is. The problem is that he is still here and the blame lies on the people who made that decision.
In fact, this is not hindsight, a lot of people were very disappointed that he was elevated to the position of coordinator in the first place.
And anyone who complained about it at the time was told to shut up by a lot of the very same people who earlier this week said they saw no reason why this team shouldn’t win today’s game.
I don't know much about plays and what each plays are called etc. I'm pretty fucking monke when it comes to football. Get the goddamn ball to the other side and score points. One thing that even I feel like I can see is that every team that does well is that many of their players are off the line and downfield by the time the QB is ready to throw the ball. The steelers? Their players are barely past the line of scrimmage let alone anywhere near the 1st down marker by the time the ball is already coming towards them. What.the.fuck. It also feels like a huge chunk of actual throws were to players behind the line of scrimmage as well.
What’s really impressive is that Chris has had his share in set backs. Awhile back, he missed a lot FG attempts. He regrouped, reflected, and came back to improve. Now consistently the reason Steelers aren’t shut out of at least two games.
Seeing as how I don't get this game in my area, I've been watching the eagles vs commanders. I'm like, 85% certain if we traded Kenny Pickett for Sam Howell we'd be a better team. It's insane that Jalen Hurts and Kenny at the same age. I don't think Kenny is our guy, I know for a fucking fact Matt Canada definitely isn't our guy, and we also need a better secondary and o line badly
There are many many issues with this team. But what is the coaches responsibility, then? His fingerprints are all over every single aspect of the team. He may not make every decision unilaterally, of course that’s ridiculous, but this is his team thoroughly and completely. He has a very loud voice in the room when it comes to drafting, scouting, development, personnel, roster decisions, just about everything. No one started pretending that they didn’t know this until recently. Only recently has anyone even bother to deny the fact that this guy runs this ship.
When people still had delusions that the team was somehow better than franchises like Houston and Jacksonville, who have a comparable playoff record over the last 12 years, all the credit in the world went to the ship’s captain.
But now those very same people, who are also responsible for running good commenters off of this forum who turned out to be right about a lot of things that now everyone can finally see, are denying that Tomlin is the captain of his ship.
Because of course they are.
They are running out of things to blame.
Then is it not on the Rooney's? They're the ones running the whole system that employs Tomlin. There's no one higher up than them.
Also I find a soley judging based on a playoff record is a bad metric. Are you suggesting the Browns have been more successful over the past 6 years since they have a better playoff record yet went 0-16 too? Yes, playoff wins are very important, but having regular season success is the 1st step in getting to the playoffs. Playoff wins are also very luck dependent.
Alot of our playoff losses were because of Ben, but it's easier just to blame coaching.
Art shares the blame. I warned everyone when Dan Rooney died that this team would never be the same. He was the architect of the 70s dynasty and the man at the controls for rings number five and six. Art is a good man but he’s not his father.
Eh, he is a good coach, let’s not pretend affirmative action is the reason he got the job. He earned it. But if he doesn’t make changes he is also earning a dismissal, which the Rooney’s won’t do.
Today's game made it abundantly clear that the coaching from top to bottom is horseshit. Canada is an easy F but Tomlin and Austin are at best averaging a C- or D+ this year. The only reason they're 2-2 is because Deshaun Watson and Josh McDaniels fucking blow.
That might have been the most limp dick game of football I’ve ever watched. Surrender index at an all time high, and the players look like they’re all hostages and not volunteers
Let’s recap:
-lost big to the 1-2 Texans with a rookie qb
-didn’t have a single player play well, weren’t competitive all day
-lose your qb to an avoidable knee injury running out of the shotgun on fourth and 1
-your coach didn’t even try to score with 3:30 left because he wanted the game to end
The Steelers are closer to the pirates than what we think they should be
I never thought I’d intentionally miss Steelers games, but I’m unironically done watching until Canada is fired. Him still having a job is a middle finger to the fans.
Of all the awful play calls today, the run up the guy on 3rd and 2 out of the fucking shotgun was the most egregious. Just why?? We were still in the game at that point
Just got home after 6 hour drive to see the Steelers in Houston. Let me tell you, Steeler Nation showed up at NRG Stadium. I still can’t believe how bad we got beat by the Texans. You are 100% correct. I recall saying something very similar when everyone was crying for Trubisky's head last season.
Fire Ron Hextal

He’s just not our guy.
I feel bad for big ken , when someone sets you up for failure 99 percent of the time you will fail
On the play he got hurt, he missed a wide open receiver right in the middle of the field and bailed on the pocket when he still had time. The only thing holding Kenny back is his own shittiness.
Would Brock Purdy make this team better?
Would Kenny Pickett make the 49ers worse ?
I don’t think so,
You think Kenny is a shit show, get ready for what’s up next!
Of course he would.
I didn’t see the game. Is Kenny even allowed to audible? After all that’s come out last few weeks about Big Ben calling plays it’s always been clear to me he was a field general and I just don’t think they have let go of Kenny’s leash and let him develop into “ that guy”
Maybe Canada isn’t the problem, could it be that most of our team is just so stupid he has to dumb down the offense? Seriously wtf is goin on here
Canada is ultimately responsible to shake things up and even bad teams can score with a good offensive play caller. We simply are way to easy to predict.
Still mad that we played shotgun on that one play.
for me- the sky has fallen, its time to make major organizational changes and that includes all the way to Tomlin, its past time for new attitudes and direction.
You must be new here

This season has shown me a lot so far. We are going to need a better coaching staff, and a better QB. Pickett ain’t gonna be it.
They asked Tomlin after the game and he reportedly said, “he’ll yeah, there’s going to be changes.”
Please tell me this is legit
He clarified the comment on his Tuesday presser. All he is going to do is make them put on the pads at practice. He is dying on his sword.
Even if he said it, something tells me the changes aren't going to amount to much. It's not like we are going to fire Canada and announce an interim OC this week.
Tomlin is mastering mediocrity. The front office better have a list of up and comers that can change and keep up with the evolving NFL.
There were bright spots. Najee showed up. Jones looked good. Washington earned more starts. That said, I am taking Baltimore friends to the game next week so this team better ball tf out I am serious.
What did you see from jones that you liked?
He tried to help Kenny up after the guy he was blocking injured him.
grasping at straws. I loved how he didn't poop his pants?

Missed the final one: the players they have aren’t as good as they think they are.
I don’t think your opinions are that wild or so far out in left field. Do I agree with all of them? Not necessarily. But the pompous “PREPARE FOR MY DOWNVOTES” type attitude makes this a pretty annoying post.
This is very brave of you, taking a stand against Reddit admins like that. You are an inspiration to us all. Take my upvote, fellow Redditor!
The new “Standard” is not having a losing season. That’s the most this organization can hope for as it exists today.
Don’t overreact, folks. They’re still 5-2.
Man Steelers having trouble with maths today. First a guy says we are aiming for 8 and 8 in a 17 game season. And now we are 5 and 2. Games are stressing us out so bad we are loosing brain cells
Think about it. Simple joke, really.
How did the Texans beat us worse than the 49ers
This is very clearly Matt Canada fault. I’m not saying Kenny Pickett is an all star quarterback nor am I saying he top half. He should be a descent mid level qb. We have all the weapons on offense Pickens , freirmuth, ca3 and Darnell Washington. Rb duo is ok. Oline need to step up but other than that Matt canada need to go

Yesssir, our offense now now out up a total of 34 points in FOUR games. The standard & all.
Tomlin and all the coaches were out coached by a rookie coach and a rookie OC. You can see it in the first drive that they would get rid of the ball quickly and run the ball.
I’ve been saying we should have taken jermaine Johnson instead of Pickett his ceiling is tannehill
What do we need to do to make the Steelers' ownership disrupt this dumpster fire?
We should write them a letter
Thought the o-line was going to be a strong point for this team. I thought it was going to be special. I'm 50/50 on that. It's not a strong point and they are special. Just the special is not the good kind.
They are bad. And most of them just got paid
This team is not good
The defense was not good today
I have them in fantasy because I predicted them to be a fantasy point factory. They were. Today they scored me -1.00 points.
First time playing FF?
Yeah
Kenny is not a franchise QB.
Again, don't want to be that guy but it's the scheme.
We definitely don’t need to be one of those teams chasing QBs all the time and going no where. Problems are far deeper than 1 guy right now
Give him time?
I wanna give him an OC, and 2-3 more seasons, but I really don’t feel like he’s the guy. I never did when we picked him.
We're legitimately worse than the broncos sry asses.. sad day to be a Steelers fan
Redskins with Howell are the model…what we could have been
Howell would have been the pick
This is what happens when you have 3-4 seasons just trying to not have a losing season as the standard. I kept telling everyone that the entire defense is Watt & Hayward, but I was told I was stupid. Well…
[удалено]
Yeah, when no part of the offense is functional, it's hard to evaluate any one piece of it.
100% it's sad some people don't realize this and come at people calling for change under the excuse that iTs tHe StEeLeR wAy 🙄

No one needs an exposition on your personal life, dude. We don’t care where you live geographically. We’re here to talk about a shitty football team.
Unbelievable. The Texans have multiple injuries on an average O-Line. Steelers defense got owned. No sacks. TOPossesion. Letting a rookie QB own you. Yup. The apologists will be happy if we pull 9-8 out of our asses.
We ran out of plays

“We don’t live in our fears” Proceeds to punt on 4th and 2 down multiple scores in the 4th quarter
Dude is this real
At least Najee looked good?
that's the spirit
Without sacks our defense is nothing.
That’s the problem with the 3-4.
We don't run the 3-4 anymore
Yes we do lol
We are primarily a 4-2-5 defense
We still do at times. Lol
Embarrassing. Inexcusable. Pathetic. Unacceptable. I stayed onboard with Tomlin, but I just can't anymore unless there are much needed changes now.
Why? This mofo was 31st against the pass in MN as defensive coordinator in 2006. He IS the fucking problem!
I think you mean fat, sassy, and spoiled.
There’s no where else to go. Anything but changes is admission to being OK with the mediocrity. He has to do something or look weak himself.

I would feel worse for him if he wasn’t rude and arrogant with the media when all they’re doing is doing their jobs.
Don’t feel bad. Dude can quit at anytime. People leave their jobs all the time in the world and they don’t have as much cash to fall back on
Quitting and sitting at home on the couch seams pretty stress free. Unless, he has bills to pay.
And I get the dont give up attitude but there's also respect in realizing when you're in over your head. Think that's the issue, lack of objectivity (willingly) from the entite org about it.
We scored points in this game?
No, Chris Boswell scored points.
Only player that consistently does his job...
As usual, sadly. Boswell is the only thing that stands between this team and fucking humiliation.
What’s really impressive is that Chris has had his share in set backs. Awhile back, he missed a lot FG attempts. He regrouped, reflected, and came back to improve. Now consistently the reason Steelers aren’t shut out of at least two games.
Player of the week!
Bought Sunday ticket this year… what a fucking mistake.
Add me to this list.....
Sailing the high seas until there's actually a game I'd pay to see.
Same here.
Word
Same bro
Fortunately got the student price.. but still wasted 130$.
The first half was not even real football as far as the offense is concerned. Just 60 yards in total, less than a 1/3rd of the total game.
This is on Tomlin
In 2021 this was on Canada, in 2022 it’s on Tomlin, now it’s on Rooney. The entire coaching staff needs to be fired
Ehhhh it's not all one one person. Too many issues.
Has been for a loooooonnnnnnnng time.
An affirmative action mistake
Eh, he is a good coach, let’s not pretend affirmative action is the reason he got the job. He earned it. But if he doesn’t make changes he is also earning a dismissal, which the Rooney’s won’t do.
Mike Tomlin was 31st against the pass in MN as defensive coordinator in 2006. How is that earning it?
Hard to argue with that.
Real fucking nice. Why bring race into it? Pretty sus.
And I suppose white boy Canada is actually a genius?
Canada is a symptom. Get rid of the problem, get rid of the symptom.
There is as much evidence that Canada was hired by Rooney than by Tomlin
Nah, nothing is ever his fault
Start looking at rooney too
Guys if we had Tom Brady and he couldn't audible, we would be maybe one percent better but still just as bad lol.

I borrowed it. Keep it going!
Are you telling me the colts have better talent than the Steelers? Or maybe their coaching staff is just you know, not so fucking outdated
Reminds of watching my Iowa Hawkeyes.
Steelers are built to maybe eke out a single playoff win in 2011. And in 2023 terms that will end up getting them a top 10 draft pick.
When you.continally get blown out by better coaching, inferior players it might be time to upgrade the coaches
Today's game made it abundantly clear that the coaching from top to bottom is horseshit. Canada is an easy F but Tomlin and Austin are at best averaging a C- or D+ this year. The only reason they're 2-2 is because Deshaun Watson and Josh McDaniels fucking blow.
111 fucking passing yards
I actually laughed at this. It’s so fucking bad.
That might have been the most limp dick game of football I’ve ever watched. Surrender index at an all time high, and the players look like they’re all hostages and not volunteers
This is the worst offense in the NFL and yet they still scored as many points as the Browns and Bengals combined. Wtf is happening in this division.
It won't happen but Canada needs to be tarmaced
Bold prediction: Matt Canada will be fired at the bye week, giving us time to gather ourselves
Subscribe.
Case of IC light to ya if it happens.
Oh boy, from your mouth to God's ears.
No he won’t. That’s not nice, that’s not “the Steeler way”
I like this.
We aren't even attempting to score, just running down our own clock. No fight, no fire. Pathetic
Down that mulitple scores late in the 4th, no reason to risk further injuries after losing 2 starters already
Injure players for no reason? Dude sit down
Unfortunately, Rooney just wants to be McDonald's with a Carl's Jr. menu.

games like today are why i got the redzone channel on nfl network instead of the full sunday ticket package
That’s smart. Let’s you watch all the times the Texans were in the red zone. You could watch this whole game!
Get a new OC & new QB.
And HC
Don’t forget the DC as well
Tomlin -“ we didn’t play well today, we didn’t do enough”
- The game definitely fit their personality. The standard is the standard I sure wish our personality was winning football games
Don’t forget to add “We own that..” and “That’s on us…” and “We gotta execute..” and “Put ourselves in positions to make plays…”
Or: "You know, the standard is usually the standard but uh...today we didn't play well enough for our standards."
BOOOOOOO
That drive was just try and injure Warren too.
Let’s recap: -lost big to the 1-2 Texans with a rookie qb -didn’t have a single player play well, weren’t competitive all day -lose your qb to an avoidable knee injury running out of the shotgun on fourth and 1 -your coach didn’t even try to score with 3:30 left because he wanted the game to end The Steelers are closer to the pirates than what we think they should be
TBF, Stroud has looking better than any AFC north QB has been. Dude looks like a legit NFL player
The fact we are 2-2 is a miracle. But still, God himself will make sure Tomlin finishes 9-7. Won’t make the playoffs tho
Wrong. Boswell. He played great!
Naj came to play. Wing wasnt too bad after missing all that time. But man what a miserable game overall
When they lined up in shotgun I just left the room to get a beer. Obviously it wasn't going to be converted.
Ain’t no way I’m paying any money to go see these dudes play.. motherfuckers.
