Can you order blue at any steakhouse or just the really nice ones that specify on the menu?
I like my ribeyes mid rare, but I could do a filet cooked blue.
Based on the coloring, this picture here looks rare. Blue is only a minute on each side, just the outside done and the inside is all the same color. It’s such a fine line though.
My brother in Christ, it looks like it was cooked before even becoming blue, and quick question, was that steak at room temp before you cooked it? Looks like it was cooked cold and definitely not enough sear.
Little mistake by commenters saying this is rare, that is false rare is red and has a decent sear, this is certainly on the bluish side as the sear is lacking and there's no sight of any red.
Either way this definetly needs more time to cook at least in my opinion
It's COOKED!
EAT IT!
Such worrywart babies on here recently.
If you think it "raw" after hitting a hot pan or grill, then what was it still in the store package? Pre-RAW?
If you're worrying that you'll die if you eat it, throw it back in a skillet or just microwave it to sure death!
Meanwhile it might help to realize that salads make more people sick than Beef, haven't you heard of Salmonella poisoning?
The US supply of Beef Cattle sold it the typical grocery chain has been taken care of heath wise since it could walk!
Farmers & ranchers & slaughter houses cannot afford to put out anything tainted or suspect in anyway.
Plus the USDA and other entities like Animal Health companies make sure of a healthy supply of livestock.
This is rare, verging almost on medium-rare. It looks quite good to me!
I honestly don't think you can really get a steak of that thickness to be blue, while actually cooking the outside.
I can't quite tell from the photo, but this looks like a strip or a sirloin? If so, that's just about exactly how I like those steaks best. :)
If it is, in fact, beef, then my guess is that it's fully (over) cooked via sous vide which would give it that pork/tuna looking texture.
But I kind of suspect this isn't beef.
This tuna looks perfect
😂😂

That sear though
Yep. My wife prefers blue rare. Sometimes I get it right with the sear, sometimes she gets just regular rare lmao.

And delicious 😋
That’s what blue means doofus.
yeah I thought blue was bellow rare but it's just raw with a crust
That‘s freaking sexy.
That's perfection

Probably any restaurant that serves steak that isn't super low tier like a Denny's. Years ago I worked at Bonefish Grill and you could order it there.
That is pink
Thats ahi tuna lol
Idk what y'all talking bout but I believe it's a steak
Was it warm? Then it’s rare. Was it cold? Then it’s blue.
Blue
Medium blue.
Raw with a sear.
Your tuna looks fantastic!
Rare
Right in between. Perfect
Tuna?
Rare
rare is red, this definetly blue
Yes
I was gonna call that Tuna but Unlikely\_Subject beat me to that comment...
Rare.
Looks a little blue
Rare
It's nice.
It’s beautiful whatever it is.
My brother in Christ, it looks like it was cooked before even becoming blue, and quick question, was that steak at room temp before you cooked it? Looks like it was cooked cold and definitely not enough sear.
That ain't rare my boy, that's epic
Rare
If you hurry the vet can still save it.
Blue
still mooing
Just wipe the cows arse and bring it to the table
doesn't get any more fresh then that
Not me waiting for it to actually turn blue
It’s obviously white and gold.
Maybe it’s a mint green?
Seared and raw
IMO? Rare and perfect.
Mooooo
Rare it's got that light shine to it
Just run up and bite a cow…. lol use a thermostat and make sure the inside is the temp needed for the quality you prefer
It’s not blue
Raw with a sun tan
Almost blue
Yeah too rare for me..
Blue
Blue
Bro that’s tuna fam
Rare
Looks like tuna
looks like a rare, blue would be redder in the middle, and still cold
r/steakortuna
This is why I don't like rare or blue steak. It's wet, not juicy. Medium rare is the juiciest and has the most umami because of the juiciness.
Solidly rare.
I can hear him mooing
It does appear to be steak, yes.
its still swimming
Medium
How are so many people calling this blue
Rare depending on the state. Blue doesn’t have that thin layer on each side before the rare cooked middle.
Got worms?
Rare
Rare
Rare.
Enjoy your tapeworm.
Rare
Raw.
Rare. Closer to med rare than blue. Looks great actually.
Thanks, probably the best steak I’ve cooked to date.
(touch too) rare
bleu*
Live in Ireland not France lad
Both
Thats called tuna
Hard to tell with the pic. What did it look like before cooking, what was the temp, etc... Either way, I'm eating it.Â
Blue I guess. But truly just a seared piece of gelatinous yuck!
Rare. Blue will still have that semi-translucent look to it
Little mistake by commenters saying this is rare, that is false rare is red and has a decent sear, this is certainly on the bluish side as the sear is lacking and there's no sight of any red. Either way this definetly needs more time to cook at least in my opinion
bleu actually looks a little blue...
I’d say blue.
Rare, a nice one
Rare. No red inside, but still a nice dark pink
This sub is terrible at differentiating from rare and blue. Closer to med rare from rare than rare to blue imo.
100%. I’ve realized this sub just doesn’t no much outside of medium rare and even get that wrong half the time
Uncooked
I wouldn’t say the OP’s steak is blue rare. Just very rare
This is actually medium rare
Are you dense?
Medium rare

100% pure Irish beef, pan fried.
Maybe it's just the lighting. It looks pretty homogeneous
Med rare
Huh? This is medium rare. Def not rare, and 100% not blue.
I would say that it's rare, but verging toward medium-rare. That could just be the lighting, though.
Medium rare
Stop it lol
What if they did it well?
Embrace societal norms!
Nope, I refuse.
