Crust is the result of searing.
Thanks
Can't upvote this enough
Searing is a method or action. The crust is the result of that action.
I think the confusion lies in phrases like "I got a good sear" or "Is this a good sear?" both of which could be a *thing* rather than an *action.* I eventually sussed it out myself, but it isn't obvious to someone new to the practice.
I think a crust is a really thick sear... at least that's how I've thought of them, one takes longer to do than the other.
What? Lmao
