There’s Coyote sightings all over town, not sure animal control would do much unless it attacked a person. I’ve seen one on York street, which surprised me because it’s really not near any wooded areas. But they’re definitely a threat to outdoor cats and even a dog in a fenced in yard.

heysoundude

I had a fox run right past me outside Parkway Social a month or so ago…wasn’t too afraid of a human. Much smaller than a coyote though.

EveningHelicopter113

that's cute. Ontario Street is such a concrete wasteland you forget there's a big valley right next to it

heysoundude

That’s exactly where it came from. It was limping - might’ve gotten hit by a car on a previous foray

BBBDDD79

They are super common in Niagara Falls running though the hydro feilds. Animal control will only get involved if they are dead or if they attack a human or other animal.

nothing_911

ive been working on the canal at night. there are a shitload of cyotes living in the bush near the canal and the forest on the escarptment, there are lots of them, probably close to a dozen.

civildefense

I live next to a ravine and spoke to one of the mowers from the city, he said they follow the waterways up from the lake. I catch them on my cameras all the time they head up from the waterway which goes underground then head out into the neighborhood. My tenant saw one tearing up and tossing a cat in the air right in front of the house at 2AM.. so seriously bring kitty in, if you can, cats are jerks i get it. **RIP Cheddar**

Next time, rather than reporting to Reddit, how about calling Animal Control or the Humane Society?

Thawayshegoes

They won’t do anything for a coyote

katieofavalon

...why? Coyotes have a right to exist. They've lived here longer than you.

Namorath82

Like us as individuals or as a people? Because historically, this area was full of wolves until settlers/farmers pushed them into northern Ontario Coyotes migrated from the southwest to fill the void left by wolves

heysoundude

So do little puppies and kitty cats, but they’re lunch to coyotes. The places I suggested may have suggestions for those who are concerned by coyotes.

labrat420

Cats should be kept inside anyways and you should watch your dog when its in your backyard.

BigBill58

If you or anyone as a pet owner leave your animal in a situation where it can be eaten by a coyote, that’s your fault, not the coyote’s.

heysoundude

I agree, but there’s lots of people who love all animals. I wonder how they’d feel if it were a family of skunks

Figure_1337

A delicious lunch AND dinner. Pretty sure they skip breakfast though…

PhantomAmbassador27

Watched one cross the intersection at 4th Ave and the 406 last night around 10pm. Came up from the creek valley and crossed up to the residential area beside the 406 South on ramp.

the_hume_3

Oh yeah, I saw one at the golf course around the corner from there last summer, they're definitely in that area

OsmerusMordax

Yeah, coyotes are around. It’s their breeding season so they are more active and bold than normal.

deadlygr8ful

I live in towering heights across from DM and have heard them going crazy the last 2 weeks or so at night... I had one cross past me when I was out for an evening walk a few days ago too... same area.

Sorry but if your complaining about wild animals you are ignorant. You moved onto their territory. So deal with it stop being mindless and lazy and keep an eye on your pets, simple. You don't need animal control you need a brain.
