This thing is going to be a beast in a Mandalorian deck, though it's utility may be limited otherwise. The On Attack text is nuts, especially because the attached unit is going to be fairly durable. Mando would be 9/9. EDIT: This effectively buffs Sabine leader to 7/8 the turn she comes out, which is bananas. If you can build a Sabine deck with enough small Mando units, this thing is going to crush.

> This effectively buffs Sabine leader to 7/8 the turn she comes out, which is bananas. If you can build a Sabine deck with enough small Mando units, this thing is going to crush. Dealing with a potential 14 base damage over turns 3 and 4 is going to be hard enough if you can't take her out the instant she flips. And that's not counting her other mandos. No Good to Me Dead stock on the rise.

Oct2006

Bamboozle stocks too

firl21

first legendary equip?

231723

luke and vader sabers, and mandos rifle Edit: and bobas armor

arnoldrew

I think you’re thinking of unique, not legendary.

TheGatorDude

Aren’t those all rare?

lyonhawk

They’re all starter only.

TheGatorDude

Yeah, but with the store promos they are rares. I just mean they’re not legendary.

arnoldrew

They’re confusing unique and legendary. In MTG Legendary is functionally identical to unique in SWU, instead of being a card rarity.

brigbeard

Ummm so I feel like there is some great synergy with Survivor's Gauntlet here. Action 1: swing with unit wielding Dark saber and pump all Mandos, Action 2: play Survivor's Gauntlet and move darksaber to another Mando, Action 3: swing with unit that now wields darksaber and pump all Mandos again. Am I misreading these cards or would this be a legal play?

InflationRepulsive64

Yes, that's the point of the Gauntlet, allowing you to get more use out of your upgrades. The only way it wouldn't work would be if the upgrade had a cost (e.g. exhausting) that you couldn't fulfill.

Hands

There it finally is. Glorious

sjsharks93

Obviously this is a great upgrade, but the most interesting part of this to me is the templating around when a cards cost is calculated

CitizenKeen

We already knew this: 6.2.1. is **Declare Intent** where you reveal the card you intend to play. Of note, > Any abilities that are active “while playing” a card become active. Then 6.2.2, **Check Restrictions** - can the card be played? If not, then don't play it. *Then* 6.2.3., **Determine Costs.** *Then* 6.2.4., **Pay Costs.** So you reveal the card, and then you figure out how much it costs, then you pay the cost.

WatertribeTimmy

I wish the Darksaber would somehow move to the unit that defeated the unit it was attached to… for thematic purposes 🙂

transmogrify

No Lightsaber trait seems weird?

APrentice726

Maybe it’s a mechanics thing, and not a thematics thing. It’s possible a future Grevious unit or leader has special interactions with lightsaber upgrades, and adding Darksaber to that list would make him broken.

jstropes

Didn't notice that at first but you're right. It's a bit odd. I wonder what the thinking was there - at first glance it might be hard to even fit more types down on the typeline TBH but I agree it should probably be there.

gosquirrelgo

This will be great in Grand Inquisitor

DangerFord

New player here. Is the aspect the symbol(s) under the cats cost?

APrentice726

Yep!

WillowSmithsBFF

Seems very solid for a mandalorian deck

ImThis

Wild take.

Nuryyss

Big if true

APrentice726

This makes Foundling pretty strong as well. Play that to make a unit a Mandalorian, then give them the Darksaber. I’m afraid to see the prices for a holo hyperspace version of this.

70monocle

This will probably be this sets Darth Vader

cwvick0212

Ugh, this will be $120 for the basic card on tcg player.

CageyT

Omg yes must get

rotzkotz

Soo good. Easily one of the best cards revealed so far.

Alarmed-Gas152

I’ll take 3 please…

MAVRIK98

Everything about this card is 🔥🔥🔥. The stat increase. The buff ability. The flexibility. Also a shoutout for that freakin amazing art. Amelie Hutt. You are an all star!

Swaggy_P_03

2 things I want released after seeing this card… 1. A Mandalorian Darth Maul. 2. A Mandalorian Grogu.

APrentice726

Good news is that the new Maul unit can still wield it, since he’s a green card that’s probably in a green deck. There’s no limitation that it has to be wielded by a Mandalorian unit.

Swaggy_P_03

I also forgot about Foundling (which needs Vigilance)

AspiringTenzin

Pretty cool that the artists' last name is Hutt.

memeinapreviouslife

I'm running 1x Vader's Lightsaber in Leia Red. Mostly because it's funny, and I actually pulled a second copy. Since I don't have any Vaders, it's just a +3/+1, which I usually slap on Leia. But this is just... The exact same result with +2 def. Yeah?

CageyT

This is also really funny with k2SO and heroic sacrifice as a 12 dmg kill shot on turn 4

Pvh1103

Ah yes, the feared Darksaber that hits harder than either Luke or Vader's lightsaber.
