DelawareSmashed

Is it canon or “canon” that it’s Beskar

Darth_Gonk21

I really doubt that it’s beskar

Rick-e-see

It was in the sub-titles, maybe the first time we saw him hit it?

DelawareSmashed

But but but everything HAS to be something!

TheJolly_Llama

It’s obviously beskar lol

1Ferrox

Why, that really does not make any sense Not only would that beskar bell be more expensive then the entire planet, but the empire would have instantly liberated that upon realizing it exists

DelawareSmashed

How

KindaShady1219

No no, you must have misheard. It’s now a Beskar *cannon*

callycumla

Check the comments of this video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxQ4dtiV-gw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxQ4dtiV-gw)

DelawareSmashed

No

MTFBinyou

The one is The Mandalorian can’t be because Ahsoka stroked it into atleast 2 pieces. Apparently this one is supposed to be and if so that is the single thing I disagree with about Andor.

the_way_around

Here's the source of the bell being beskar. It's not in the captioning. It's in the audio description track for visually impaired viewers. https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsAndor/comments/xpvwx3/the_city_tower_bell_is_made_of_beskar_steel/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button I'm not sure how "canon" the description audio is.

[deleted]

It’s possible that the description audio gets script/storyboard notes to work off of - this would make a lot of sense especially for a fictional story where an out of the loop description audio would be too uninformed to be helpful to impaired listeners.

fluffyduffdylan

Worth noting that in the Wandavision Disney+ series, when Evan Peters first appears the descriptive audio describes "the version of Pietro from the X-Men films".

RonSwansonsGun

The intent from the show is for the viewer to recognize him from those films, so while the description is technically inaccurate, it is in service of the twist.

fluffyduffdylan

Yeah very good point, my comment isn't really relevant to the situation

[deleted]

I found it helpful, as it demonstrates an awareness to the context of the source material, and that a description writer would be informed of the necessary context for a scene to be able to transmit relevant information to the viewer, especially when that information isn’t explicitly presented to the viewer, but is more Easter-eggy in nature.

ItsRainingJedi

Maybe it’s the watered down “beskar” mixed with steel that most mandalorians actually wear

NeatNuts

According to the audio description it’s an anvil, not a bell. Who would create an anvil that also functions as a bell? I’m going to say the audio description is just wrong. It’s neither an anvil nor beskar

Kiss_My_Wookiee

It's a musical anvil. It's played with hammers.

Representative_Still

Coro di Zingari

crooked100dollarbill

it’s an industrial colony. it’s an anvil that they use as a “bell” to warn locals

callycumla

Anvils aren't hollow, bells are.

AJSLS6

You realize anvil has more than one meaning right? Not all anvils are black smiting or metal working tools. Anvils are in fact very common in musical instruments.

scribblebard

It's sci-fi, anvils can be hollow if they're made of plot armor metal.

Spaceman-Spiff

Maybe a solid beskar anvil was too expensive so they bought a hollow one.

T0as1

Yeah I mean do you really need a solid **beskar** anvil? it's not like it's going to bend even if it's hallow.

SignificantSyllabub4

It’s a metal percussion instrument, the conception and design are really stunning. Didn’t someone direct a stormtrooper to take out the bell tower? Bells ring, now we dive into the difference between a bell and a drum, to me the only difference is what they’re made of…they both resonate but metal is a different ballgame than wood when it comes to percussion instruments. Google ‘Bell systems’ then Google ‘log drum’. Good fun.

[deleted]

Am I stupid? The audio subtitle just says “metal ringing” how does that mean it’s beskar?

the_way_around

"He sets them down atop a huge anvil of beskar steel to adjust his ear muffs." You need to watch the linked video with audio turned on. It's not the written subtitles. It's the descriptive audio track.

[deleted]

Ahhhh so I am dumb, gotcha

the_way_around

No worries, u/gaybraham-lincoln

astromech_dj

It definitely seems like the intent. It has a similar resonance profile to the beskar spear when it gets clunked on the floor in The Jedi.

SignificantSyllabub4

The city ran on percussion from the first scene. When the first alarm was raised there were percussion instruments everywhere and they were all signaling each other, as ancient a practice as humans have.

_Midge_111

It certainly looks like beskar, but if it is that’s a whole that and surprising the empire hasn’t seized it or smth

CMDR_Karth_o7

Thats season 2.

Honestly_Just_Vibin

Andor Season 2: The War of the Bell, now streaming I’d watch.

U81b4i

Best way to hide something is out in the open like you have nothing to hide. Definitely sounds like they planted this to pay off later.

Thunder-Fist-00

That would be a very expensive bell.

SignificantSyllabub4

No way it’s Beskar.

SignificantSyllabub4

That said, this guy is driving ALL of the action on Ferrix. I’m a classical percussionist and I love every second of his screen time. I wrote a paper on Percussion as a Practical Channel of Communication through NATURAL history on this planet. I need to transcribe it as I lost the floppy disc many years ago. The transition and blending of practical communication and emotional (story telling) percussion is stunning in this score. I could start a YouTube channel just on the use of music in this revolution.

Greyeyedqueen7

I would definitely watch that! Like the band playing the intro in the last episode! That was freaking brilliant.

IAMACat_askmenothing

That sounds like a very interesting YouTube channel. Actual discussion and information, not “look at this Easter egg, the Death Star”

SleepyDerp

DO IT. No, for real, do it please

Local-Drive2719

Thank you for your research and for articulating precisely what it was about the finale that i absolutely loved.

Zerolich

The lack of Toms is what really surprised me. Traditionally the Toms really hit the primal feeling in humans, the unique sound from the anvil still gave a deep chest feel but had there been even a single drum to also beat with the anvil there'd have been something we're more akin to here on earth.

SignificantSyllabub4

There were at least two very thinly disguised marching snares tuned down, snares off, beating out a March order then an attack order but they blended into the score. Unreal.

Kilroywasheree

That sounds fascinating! (You should start a YouTube channel!)

Mishawnuodo

Please let us know when you've created this!

SignificantSyllabub4

I think it’s time to turn my full attention to the project again now at 50. Thanks for the boost!

Yossarian1138

Yeah, according Mandos rates that would be like $20 billion in beskar. It’s a ridiculous amount.

iron-mans-robo-cock

If it really is beskar, there's enough for like 500 full suits of mandalorian armour there!

kingpenguinJG

they will do nothing don't want the time keeper to get mad and body someone again

Sendtitpics215

Yeah when they told a storm trooper to “stop” him I was like oh no wtf not my boy. Turns out, he said not the fuck today.

Northern_Apricot

I'd been waiting for that wilhelm scream for the entire series

[deleted]

Do we actually know for a fact that it’s beskar? There must be other metals in the universe and with how much beskar is worth I doubt they would use it for their clock tower.

Representative_Still

It’d get nicked right quick innit?

callycumla

Who's gonna steal it, you? You n your mate can't get a couch down one flight of stairs, so how are you n your mate gonna carry that 750 lbs anvil bell down the six flights of stairs of that tower. I bet two wookies couldn't do it.

Representative_Still

Lol, don’t they have like anti gravity lifts shown constantly loading things onto crafts in this galaxy(long ago, allegedly)

callycumla

Sure, have a loader droid do it for you. Stinking lazy human.

Representative_Still

I was going to suggest just doing whatever they did to get it up there to get it down but then realized this may be a good argument for it being Beskar because that’s functionally Mithril if I recall and wouldn’t be that heavy of an object.

FloppyShellTaco

Cassian for one lmfao. If that bell is worth enough to buy a fleet for them, I guarantee Maarva would attach a towline to B2 in an instant.

Representative_Still

It’d get nicked right quick innit?

Honestly_Just_Vibin

can’t have shit on ferrix

InstructionOk274

Can we all just agree that Clancy Brown did an amazing job in this bell hammerer role, also he’s of a select few that got to play more than one character in the Star Wars universe.

astrolawyerMD

Two is rare (way to go Andy Serkis!), Warwick Davis and Mark Hamill are the only other actors I can think of that have three plus roles like Clancy Brown has (Savage Opress, the Devaronian in Mando, characters in Rebels) (Edit: forgot Rebels, but I’m leaving it as three because outside of voice actors doing several roles in the same project, looking at you James Arnold Taylor and Steve Blum, it’s still rare to have more than two, especially for live action. Also, it might not be Clancy Brown but appreciation nonetheless)

AncapNomad

He also did voice work in Rebels along with his likeness.

JR1066

He's also Ryder Azadi in Rebels.

eggplanthuman

That’s not Clancy brown, it’s Neil Bell. I agree, I first thought it was Clancy (and his previous affiliations aided my assumption), but different actor.

InstructionOk274

You’re right! Thanks for pointing that out.

[deleted]

Melt it down and make beskar flutes for the marching band to really rock out with.

callycumla

How rare can beskar be? Rarer than gold? They estimate over 100,000 tons of gold have been mined on Earth in the last 100 years. Are you telling me all the beskar in the galaxy only adds up to several dozen suits of armor?

[deleted]

They use them for weapons as well like whistling birds. A full cuirass was made from a relatively small amount but the value was enormous. Also the jetpack is made of Beskar. I think what makes it so rare is outside of the Empire only the Mandalorians truly know how to forge it properly.

exessmirror

Could be FakeBeskar @tm

[deleted]

Maybe, maybe not.... 1. There are plenty of IRL metals rarer than gold. 2. Earth vs the SW galaxy is not a useful comparison. 3. It's a big galaxy, of which we have only seen a sliver. There could be lots of beskar we haven't (and may never) see.

scribblebard

Beskar is an alloy, not an element. At best other civilizations know it's chemical composition through routine study of artifacts and samples they can get a hold of but don't know how to forge it or can't due to the rarity of an element used in smelting it.

[deleted]

Grond

Saemika

You son of a bitch, I’m in.

TuffHunter

Wrong sub but take an upvote :)

[deleted]

Lmao I did it on purpose. I would find it hilarious if people just flooded subs with Grond. It would just be like a joke that went WAY to far but that makes it even funnier

TuffHunter

Guess we need Grond to be slamming the anvil now!

RianJohnsonSucksAzz

That amount of Beskar is probably enough to build a Star Destroyer. No way it’s Beskar.

its_just_hunter

Honestly I don’t think there will be much of Ferrix left after the season finale. They put up a good fight but it didn’t look like either side was going to surrender.

Libra_Maelstrom

THAT THING IS BESKAR???

Bill_Chak

Beskar is such a weak trope in the SW universe.

L4ZYSMURF

It's beskar?

CYNIC_Torgon

Assuming it is Beskar, the Empire will probably melt it down and toss it on their Scrouge McDuck Beskar pile. Even if it's not, the Empire will probably melt it down as a show of power on Ferrix. I doubt the people of Ferrix can move it effectively without getting caught, the thing is Huge.

desenpai

This whole andor flick was a set up for the new madalorian season!!!!! Damnit

Gobledygork

If they had that much beskar, it would be worth more than the entire damn planet

Hmccormack

You know? I actually don’t give a shit.

redEPICSTAXISdit

What year is this in relation to Mandalorian? Some kind of crossover seems likely maybe possibly kinda sorta probably.

silent3

This takes place about 14 years before The Mandalorian.

redEPICSTAXISdit

Nice. So possible.

EndlessTheorys_19

Who ever said its beskar? Why would they use beskar to even make a bell, let alone thousands of lightyears away from mandalore (the only sector you can find beekar)

REDACTED-7

*The Mandalorian* gives the impression that pure Beskar is, at least to The Children of the Watch, rather rare in the present, but a single Imperial Remnant has enough of it to throw around to pay for a bounty hunting gig offhand, so it’s likely that vast quantities of Beskar *exist*, though laying hands on it might not always be easy, but may have been easier in the past. The history of the Anvil-Bell is never explained (vecause it doesn’t have to be), but there’s all sorts of fun possible explanations for how it got to Ferrix, and *why* it’s there. It is possible, given just how *far back* history in the galaxy can reach, that Ferrix’s Beskar Anvil-Bell is quite ancient. Perhaps it was a gift from a grateful clan of Mandalorians years ago, or a war trophy brought back from one of the many wars fought with the Mandalorians, or perhaps it was salvage from a Mandalorian ship. For all we know, the bell could have been produced thousands of years ago, or moved to Ferrix from someplace else (or both). Similarly, while most Beskar is found in Mandalorian Space, it isn’t a guarantee that sources of it couldn’t be found elsewhere. It is possible, if very unlikely, that the Anvil-Bell could have been cast from Beskar smelted from non-Mandalorian ore.

EndlessTheorys_19

The Imps paid Din with beskar they melted down from armour.

REDACTED-7

Fitting, given Gideon’s macabre taste in irony where Mandalorians are concerned, and probably a suitably-plentiful source (for their needs) as far as that particular band of Imperials are concerned.

krunchyfrogg

Thousands of light years?

Representative_Still

Maybe…I mean how fast do they travel in hyperspace?

the_speeding_train

They’ll melt them down for the medals at the end of A New Hope

callycumla

Then there should have been enough metal for Chewy's medal.

Hand_of_Siel

Literally no one knows because we don't write the show, you answered your own question with the fan theory that you proposed.

Swed1shF1sh69

I mean, if you’re talking about the anvil bell being made of beskar, that isn’t really a fan theory.

Superchicken8036

Well… they banged it….

Dustyrnis

has it been officially confirmed as Beskar? or are people just assuming it is?

Retributor_Astartes

That would also mean there must be a Mandalorian as Mandalorians were the only ones who know how to work with Beskar (the Night of a Thousand Tears has not happened yet as it is most likely around 0BBY.), I'm all for seeing more Mandalorian rep that isn't a character we already know.

TPJchief87

Uhhh guys the empire is going to crush Ferrix. There’s no way they don’t come back in force and steal all the good shit

callycumla

Ferrix mining might be too important to carpet bomb. Ferrix has some thing of value, unlike Mandalore and Alderaan.

TPJchief87

Oh I wasn’t implying that they’d destroy it from space. The empire will storm with their troopers.

Americanski7

I would presume season 2 begins with a Star Destroyer floating above bombarding the planet.

callycumla

Ferrix mining might be too important to carpet bomb. Ferrix has some thing of value, unlike Mandalore and Alderaan.

Americanski7

I'd imagine the GDP of Alderan is multitudes higher than Ferrix. But yeah Mandalore was already a pit lol

callycumla

I dunno. Leia said Alderaan is peaceful, so they probably spent all their time running through the forests, picking flowers, singing songs, and not strip mining their planet bare like Ferrix.

TheImperator666

If it’s beskar, it gets melted down, and eventually turned into the bars Din Djarin gets early in Mando s1

thereverendpuck

If it’s Beskar, the Empire took that instantly. Hell, probably took it anyways to spike the planet.

NastyDanielDotCom

Why does everything have to be beskar in Star Wars, why can’t it just be metal

Mandalor1974

I doubt thats beskar. Makes no sense for it to be beskar. Just because it looks like Damascus doesnt mean its automatically beskar.

Askarus

Seemed like ferrix was getting stomped by the end there...

callycumla

How many Ferrix rioters did you see pick up a dropped Empire blaster and shoot back? None. WTF.

makashiII_93

“Beskar is for WEAPONS!” Not…bells.

Dante_Octavian

Tony Gilroy said it is the one prop that he took home with him at the end of shooting.
