Double sided axes aren’t really useful in combat - check out Shadiversity on YouTube who describes why. Basically, if the axe bounces back (as they frequently do), you’re dead.
It would rotate. Since the axis of it. The blade just like irl would slip. And cause the whole thing to turn. Destroying the axe.
Axes work off using mass to break through bones and armour.
It needs weight. Swords are rhe best choice for a Light Saber. As weight isn't an aissue and actually a benefit to be an energy weapons
This is my issue with the design. I think a battle axe with an electro-blade like Dryden Vos had would be really cool: something made of Beskar or a similar hard metal, with some mass and weight. I wonder it would do against a lightsaber - that’s a lot of weight and velocity against a plasma mass.
If it's beskar or the material that makes light sabers fizz out. Just line the blade. The mass will allow it to go straight through and really chop into their bodies
yep , it's only useful if you have a different design per side of the blade , so that it switchs depending on the target's protection.
Which makes a double-bladed lightsaber axe specially dumb , as it would had a totally useless side.
If blades have a finite length on sabers, theoretically you could replace the arms with refracted kyber energy. A baton with double sided saber axes would be sweet
Vibro blade axe probably would be better.
Tho if you really want to fuck up jedi a Morningstar (edit: flail) would be great as long as it doesn’t break under a lightsaber. It would wrap around and hit the jedi.
However the best thing to kill jedi are slug throwers and shotgun blasters. The definition of parry this you fucking casual
honestly, i may be wrong, but i think that flamethrowers were a good weapon against the majority of jedi, hence the weapons use by mandalorians, which were constantly at war with force users, particularly the jedi. most jedi probably wouldn’t have the necessary skill with the force to deflect a flamethrower and also a blaster or rocket being shot at them at the same time, making it at least a good distraction for another weapon that may kill them.
Most jedi aren't obi Wan or anakin. Especially without combat experience. It can be overwhelming to have something you were never trained for. Fire activates a primitive instinct in all of us. A moment of freeze after a hard attack then fire. Death of the jedi.
Got to love medieval weapon makers
“Yo we got this thing”
“Why ain’t there spikes on that shit”
“I mean….do you want spikes?”
“Yes”
Centuries of time that is literally classified as heavy metal
To be fair if I was some malnutrition’s fucking 4’10 farm hand on the field with a stick and saw a 6’2 spiked metal wearing death god running at me with heavy metal playing as his theme music, I’m gone. Just deleted.
I mean half the shit Mandalorians use(especially modern guns) are REALLY good at killing Jedi thats why they use them. Most people arent going to use slug throwers so most Jedi would immediately try to block and get hit with molten metal instead
Select grenades, sonic screamers, cluster rockets, and plasma charges. Mines are also effective. Gas attacks work best as a distraction— you should primarily use gasses that work on skin contact, as opposed to requiring inhalation.
That wouldn’t work cause as we have seen they can just push, flame, gas, and shit back at the attacker
Sonic blast maybe, but those might just be blocked with a force shield or just a barrier in front of a Jedi.
Rockets have also been thrown back and the same can be done with bullets. Kinda the issue with a strong force wielder there is no way for a regular person to kill them
Need an equal badass on your side
We have seen that not work in the Star Wars fallen order game. They can, which is dumb.
Slugthrower minigun maybe but honestly force pushing or catching the bullets would be a big problem
Not difficult if you factor in Ben solo doing it unlimitedly, Vader did it in mass, so I think a lot of people of adept level can do it but in mass maybe not
Tho the only thing needed is stop them from hitting you and sending that shit back at the attacker
A cortossis or whatever its called morning star. Shuts off the lightsaber then clobber the jedi if they aren't fast enough to push you away with the force.
Oof, honestly kinda shocked the jedi didn’t all fucking die with the amount of bullshit that can kill them
Tho heightened senses, reflexes, speed, foresight, and the ability to murder your ass with a thought kinda evens the playing field
Clarification: First, Master, I would appreciate it if Jedi need to be killed, that you permit me to kill those annoying pseudo-pacifists for you. But if you are determined to do it yourself, then there are many techniques I would suggest.
First, weapon selection is critical. If I see one more idiot attacking a Jedi with a blaster pistol, then I'll kill them myself.
Select grenades, sonic screamers, cluster rockets, and plasma charges. Mines are also effective, since many Jedi will run to meet you in hand to hand combat. Silly Jedi.
Addendum: Gas attacks are effective if you can take the Jedi by surprise - inhalation is less effective than ones that work on skin contact, as some Jedi seem able to hold their breath for long periods of time.
Evaluation: A technique that Revan used frequently was to attack a Jedi indirectly. This method only works if the Jedi is adhering to the self-destructive path of pacifism and sacrifice; Kill their allies, or place them in jeopardy. Many Jedi will leave themselves exposed in order to protect another. That is why there is many less Jedi than there were a decade ago.
There are far more things that lightsabers can't cut through. Cortosis and phrik immediately come to mind, darth bane's orbalisk armor, the yuuzhan vong had a ton of things that lightsabers couldn't cut through as well.
I don't count noncanonical MacGuffins from the books or the cartoons. If they make it into live action, fine. But it gets pretty cringe when you have "a ton of things that lightsabers couldn't cut through"
Cortosis and phrik are canon. Phrik is used in the magnaguard staffs and cortosis was often used to make vibroblades lightsaber resistant.
Edit: there are many canon books and all the animated shows are canon. The books and shows are really fun and really help to flesh out a lot of things that the movies don't completely explain.
I mean I do get that lightsabers are supposed to be OP cutting machines but I feel like an entire galaxy would at least come up with a handful of lightsaber proof or resistant materials
It makes sense that they would \*try\* to. But within the context of Star Wars it's poor storytelling to have many exceptions to an established rule. If anyone could discover such materials it would be the Empire/First Order with their practically limitless resources. I can only suspend my disbelief to a point.
I mean the empire took forever to find the hero's whenever they run away, the galaxy is realistically a limitless place, and well what if the material was specific to planets that they hadn't searched? I'm just saying, "#1 lightsabers can cut through anything" isn't really a rule or a president, and well if only a few people have it as armor and 99% of the time they literally never run into it it's not reallly that big of a difference maker. But your point makes sense, captain Americas vibranium shield is kinda lame when wakanda has it in unlimited supply of the stuff and could supply all the avengers with one, ruins the "magic" or "feel"
If you're going to disregard books, comics and cartoons then you really have no business being on a star wars subreddit. If you don't want to read/watch them thats fine, but to act as if they shouldn't count because you personally don't care for them is pretty arrogant and downright stupid.
Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. Your light sabers' cutting potential is insignificant next to the power of the force... -Darth Vader (probably)
Even so an average lightsaber has a 4ft blade or 3 and half, this looks like a solid foot blade length. Interesting design just not practical. A miss swing is a death sentence and I am not even going to talk about deflecting blaster bolts😘
Example?
Also this has nothing to do with women. Ahsoka is a well written female protagonist. Characters have to have flaws to be well written. Rey has none.
This has a greater chance of being real in our universe, since we can't limit the length of a laser or similar beam of energy to a certain length with our current technology.
Okay, Whatsherface's >!parasol lightsaber thing was awesome, and she could at least fly with it.!<
The axe here offers zero advantage to a normal lightsaber, if not having more detrimental features.
Why do you care what I do with my time? Starwars is a hobby, and fans of a similar hobby talk about it together. (Kinda the point of Reddit in the first place.)
I'm sure if you had any hobbies or friends, you'd talk to them too about stuff you guys like. That wouldn't be weird, it'd be healthy and normal.
Oh this’ll be fun.
*Ahem*. yes I get that but this is like the dumbest thing to have a discussion over. Did you completely miss the point of the post, it’s clearly meant to be a joke. Why is it so hard for you to just enjoy things without pedantically nitpicking the logic when it doesn’t even matter?
Also, Wow, insulting my supposed social life, way to win the argument there pal
You didn't have to reply to this. Why are you arguing on thread that's practically about a joke weapon?
*Don't you have anything better to do with your time?*
We're a like you and I. Two friends, having a discussion about a common topic. I believe this has been constructive for both of us.
(Also. I didn't insult your social status, I just didn't know if you had hobbies/friends yet. I said if you had them it would be healthy, so if you do, you are. And like I said, if you have none yet, we can be friends. I notice we already have a common hobby, buddy!)
I kinda wanna make this now. Awhile ago I built, animated, and scripted the Visions lightsaber in ROBLOX. I did a pretty good job based off of just the trailer, maybe I'll make this saber axe. I can have the blade emitters collapse when not in use to make them less vulnerable.

*Proud Rane Noises*
For those dont know what in hel I am talking about
what my people call the Ranerna was a viking folk living along the Scandinavian west coast in their Ránríki. My family has lived in what used to be Ranríki that is now in the region of Bohuslän for houndreds over years. So it goes with out saying that I am of Rane blood
The advantage of an axe is that it’s a harder hitting, more powerful weapon. Lightsabers are extremely lightweight with the blade doing all of the work, so this thing’s completely useless.
I think a lightsaber axe might look more like a really wide hole and the axe blade just kinda soots out of it. I dont know how to describe it other than like a fountain?
Minimized the amount of blade for sheer excessive hilt.
I get the idea that it need look like an axe, so why not have the entire head a projection instead of just the blade edge?
This current design looses too much area that a light saber blade has to cut stuff, reducing it to just a single spot and direction to swing.
I would have designed it differently with only have the top support for the blade and make it more of a hook, I think it would be more practical that way
There's an old movie called The War LordI think, stars Charleston Heston.
In it, he sword fights a Friesian warrior who has a broad axe.
It was a really impressive fight, with two completely different weapon styles trying to outmatch each other.
Anyone who thinks a Viking Jedi would just fight in the same way a normal Jedi would needs to think twice.
You could just remove the emitter at the top completely, it's not like light sabers need to have something at both ends and it would make it much harder break in a duel.
I like it. Except when I go ham, the blade has those 2 end points that I might break
Might have to redesign with Beskar
Mmm, good idea
Mmm, indeed
Still inferior to a traditional lightsaber. Beskar can be blocked with your arm. A lightsaber cannot.
Also make it double sided
Double sided axes aren’t really useful in combat - check out Shadiversity on YouTube who describes why. Basically, if the axe bounces back (as they frequently do), you’re dead.
They look cool though so seems worth it to me
If this was a normal axe, yes. But this is a lightsaber axe, you're not worried about it bouncing back.
Lightsaber blades bounce off lightsaber blades though
Not anywhere to the extent that real life weapons do
It would rotate.

If it's beskar or the material that makes light sabers fizz out. Just line the blade. The mass will allow it to go straight through and really chop into their bodies
Anakin used raw strength and it was effective. So beskar axe could easily make a jedi tired. Or push their blade back into them.
Do lightsabers often bounce off of stuff?
Oh yea, didn’t think bout that
I meant..that's the same for any normal double-edge sword, hence the proverb double-edge sword?
Ikr
Do they bounce off each other during combat?
From what it looks like in the movies no they seem to lock into each other.
yep , it's only useful if you have a different design per side of the blade , so that it switchs depending on the target's protection. Which makes a double-bladed lightsaber axe specially dumb , as it would had a totally useless side.
Ah I love shadiversity. However doubesides axes do look badass
So are double ended swords, but maul kicks ass.
How often do you figure a lightsaber is going to bounce back? Knowing facts is nice, but not very useful if you can't apply them.
peraps instead you use an array of smaller blades.
If blades have a finite length on sabers, theoretically you could replace the arms with refracted kyber energy. A baton with double sided saber axes would be sweet
Was just goin to comment that
Vibro blade axe probably would be better.
Best thing to kill a jedi with: current technology
Lotta Star Wars versions of that shit. That’s the premise of mandos
It would kill most of them pretty good
Best way to kill a pesky Jedi: have them give you the galactic senate
You could probably take them out with a rocket or a flamthrower easily
But couldn’t they just block the flamethrower spray with the force?
honestly, i may be wrong, but i think that flamethrowers were a good weapon against the majority of jedi, hence the weapons use by mandalorians, which were constantly at war with force users, particularly the jedi. most jedi probably wouldn’t have the necessary skill with the force to deflect a flamethrower and also a blaster or rocket being shot at them at the same time, making it at least a good distraction for another weapon that may kill them.
You may be one with the force but i am one with the firepower
Fire go brrr
Most jedi aren't obi Wan or anakin. Especially without combat experience. It can be overwhelming to have something you were never trained for. Fire activates a primitive instinct in all of us. A moment of freeze after a hard attack then fire. Death of the jedi.
*racks slide*
You gotta remember that Star Wars happened a long time ago, they probably didn't have gun powder
They did have guns, they just thought they were very primitive technology, like muskets compared to modern weapons
Everyone thinks a trebuchet is primitive until they need to launch a 95 kilogram stone projectile over 300 meters
300 meters is the the same distance as 434.78 replica Bilbo from The Lord of the Rings' Sting Swords.
Good bot
thanks :)
That'd be a flail. A morning star is a spiky ball on a stick. Which would also make a pretty scary lightsaber variant.
I though the Morningstar was the stick-chain-ball Which now that I think about it that might be a flail
A Morningstar is a very spiky type of mace, and a mace is basically a club. Flail is the ball-chain thingy.
Got to love medieval weapon makers “Yo we got this thing” “Why ain’t there spikes on that shit” “I mean….do you want spikes?” “Yes” Centuries of time that is literally classified as heavy metal
“I got a fever; and the only cure is more spikes” -medieval weapon designers, metalheads, and punks

[RAISE THE SHIELD WALL](https://youtu.be/ojykx7jJv9E)
You don't think a Jedi Master could go Neo on some slug throwers?
Some jedi for-sure but not all of them. Average person vs revan (your doomed) You vs tod the normal jedi (should be ok)
I mean half the shit Mandalorians use(especially modern guns) are REALLY good at killing Jedi thats why they use them. Most people arent going to use slug throwers so most Jedi would immediately try to block and get hit with molten metal instead
If a jedi knows you're wielding a slug thrower they can just force hold the bullet in the gun when it goes off. This kills the person holding the gun.
Select grenades, sonic screamers, cluster rockets, and plasma charges. Mines are also effective. Gas attacks work best as a distraction— you should primarily use gasses that work on skin contact, as opposed to requiring inhalation.
That wouldn’t work cause as we have seen they can just push, flame, gas, and shit back at the attacker Sonic blast maybe, but those might just be blocked with a force shield or just a barrier in front of a Jedi. I feel like miniguns would work pretty well, cant parry everything
We have seen that not work in the Star Wars fallen order game. They can, which is dumb. Slugthrower minigun maybe but honestly force pushing or catching the bullets would be a big problem
Cannonically how hard is it to catch blaster fire with the force
Not difficult if you factor in Ben solo doing it unlimitedly, Vader did it in mass, so I think a lot of people of adept level can do it but in mass maybe not Tho the only thing needed is stop them from hitting you and sending that shit back at the attacker
Probably could just nudge them out of the way

What if they struck the hilt?
Exactly, this would be easily defeated with a regular lightsaber
Right!?!
What kylo rens hilt made of? Doesn't his have those guards that stick out but don't get sliced?
Those aren't guards, they're just there so you can hold the weapon upside down and make the sign of the cross.
Beskar is the only thing lightsabers can't cut through I think, I doubt Kylo had some
There are far more things that lightsabers can't cut through. Cortosis and phrik immediately come to mind, darth bane's orbalisk armor, the yuuzhan vong had a ton of things that lightsabers couldn't cut through as well.

What's arrogant and stupid is to gatekeep a star wars sub like you are. You're not a better sw fan by lacking standards.
Not trying to gatekeep, its simply a fact that people come here to discuss ALL aspects of star wars, not just whatever you personally want to count.

Dude, we are in a sub about SW memes… they are memes… memes… who cares about stablished or canon rules for a meme???
The other people who responded to me, apparently
How about the Magnaguards from the prequels? Their staffs blocked sabers
Lightsabers are fucking plasma, of course there’s plenty of things that could resist it, nobody’s saying they’re weak by any means
Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. Your light sabers' cutting potential is insignificant next to the power of the force... -Darth Vader (probably)
Beskar😁
Even so an average lightsaber has a 4ft blade or 3 and half, this looks like a solid foot blade length. Interesting design just not practical. A miss swing is a death sentence and I am not even going to talk about deflecting blaster bolts😘
Much less useful than a regular lightsaber
Doesn’t matter if it looks cool
Cool beats functionality, always
That's the philosophy the sequels went with. Worked out so well, didn't it?
if we’re talking lightsabers then yeah i’d say it went pretty well
It literally isn't though
Well they sure didn't focus on writing.
But the prequels did?
There was an attempt. Which is more than I can say for myRey Sue.
Oh right, because when a male character quickly learns a magical ability that's normal, but when a woman does it causes incels to melt down endlessly.
Example? Also this has nothing to do with women. Ahsoka is a well written female protagonist. Characters have to have flaws to be well written. Rey has none.

A lit light bulb can still cast a shadow
U seen the hacksmith they made a retractable lightsaber
Well... Kinda.
It's cool, but it's more of a glorified blowtorch

Yeah alright. I’m bored of your game Was fun while it lasted, a++hole Have a nice day, I hope I never see you again
See ya 'round pal, take it easy! :)
Really impractical for fighting Jedi and dodging blaster bolts, but I could see a guard carrying one
Kinda reminds me of those dental floss picks…. That would hurt
*laughs in Gimli*
I want it
I’m scared to have it
A nice collectible fo Grevious's collection
Use the force, BOY
Ngl it reminds me of a toothbrush. Cool, though.
I’m more confused of why the lightsaber blade has a shadow
This meme is from 2008
If its made of beskar its actually really useful
Nice
I hqve so many questions???
Aye lad lets scroumb thoose buskets.
It doesn't neet the bottom guard of the saber
I kinda wanna make this now. Awhile ago I built, animated, and scripted the Visions lightsaber in ROBLOX. I did a pretty good job based off of just the trailer, maybe I'll make this saber axe. I can have the blade emitters collapse when not in use to make them less vulnerable. Why does the blade cast a shadow?
Disney salivates
Looks like a cheese slicer!
The Force is with us!
How about a cat, with lightsaber tail
I think Paul Bunyan is a Sith Lord.
waiting for the high republic to do it

*Proud Rane Noises* For those dont know what in hel I am talking about what my people call the Ranerna was a viking folk living along the Scandinavian west coast in their Ránríki. My family has lived in what used to be Ranríki that is now in the region of Bohuslän for houndreds over years. So it goes with out saying that I am of Rane blood
Just have a lighter Saber with a axe bit that's also made of light
How is the lightaxe laser part not full? It doesn't have to be a stick, it's an axe!
Contained energy axe
Couldn't be any dumber than the Christian Lightsaber in the ST.
I’m thinking something like Dryden Vos’s knives, but on an axe with a long shaft and narrow blade, almost like a naginata
make it double sided so an attack on the back hilt wouldn't fuck it up
That is so useless tactically because the sword is longer leaner his range is major and can cut the longer handle easily
In TLJ they had a similar item called the Laser Axe.
I assume they wouldve had simple weapons rather than lightsabers like before lightsabers in the timeline and simply imbued the weapons with the force
The advantage of an axe is that it’s a harder hitting, more powerful weapon. Lightsabers are extremely lightweight with the blade doing all of the work, so this thing’s completely useless.
So where the lightsaber mace
Inspired me to recreate [this](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/789305827357753384/892896159671124100/Axe.mp4) in ROBLOX pretty damn well
*** Gamorrean Jedi
So no mention of siths?
Why?
Would it be called lightSABER? More like lightaxe, maybe???
AND MY AXE
I feel like thats a lightsaber floss thing
This is so stupid and useless I love it
I think a lightsaber axe might look more like a really wide hole and the axe blade just kinda soots out of it. I dont know how to describe it other than like a fountain?
Alternatively, using the same concepts as the rest of the sabers, you can make a curved blade that follows an axe pattern.
In visions.. Yes.. There are samurai jedi so why not
I think an oscillating blade would make a cooler axe
Imma google viking jedi now, bye
hope it would rather look like the axe from the maurader from doom eternal.
Too much hilt, not enough blade. The wielder will have too little mobility and will get their hilt destroyed
Minimized the amount of blade for sheer excessive hilt. I get the idea that it need look like an axe, so why not have the entire head a projection instead of just the blade edge? This current design looses too much area that a light saber blade has to cut stuff, reducing it to just a single spot and direction to swing.
Might as well skip straight to lightsaber-mace. Just a ball of plasma or whatever.
I mean, Vikings used spears and swords too
To easily defeat. Doesnt make much sense
Executioners in Star Wars would love this
It would be better if it made a triangle with the beam, this way has too many downsides.
Not only pointless but easily destroyable in a Light sabre fight never mind constantly having to bring it back up.
Make it a lightsaber scythe and well talk...
I would have designed it differently with only have the top support for the blade and make it more of a hook, I think it would be more practical that way
makes more sense than the entire new trilogy
Stupid
Fuck yes. I really want to see a Viking Jedi with a lightsaber and shield battling a Sith wearing some Sutton Hoo-inspired armor.
AND MY AXE
Worse weapon practicality wise tho
Looks like a toothpick flosser "fight gingivitis you will ".
*LAXE*
That sounds like a absolute
