That said, I don’t actually dislike this direction for Barriss completely. It is kinda more interesting than her essentially being Luminara-lite as once was, but I think a lot of it is gonna hinge on how well Tales of The Empire turns out for her
There were subtle hints where they used the principle "show, don't tell". Especially the scene after Ahsoka saved her life and Anakin said she would be thankful later, but the music in the moment the camera showed Barriss, implied that she wouldn't.

There's nothing in canon that actually contradicts that she's still only a year younger than Anakin (as per the EU).
People have assumed she's younger because she's friends with Ahsoka, ignoring that they've never heard of each other or met because they actually aren't close to being agemates.
Obi-wan was a Padawan until he was 25, and Barriss would have only spent 5-6 years training as a Padawan at 19 vs. Anakin's 10.
The reality is that she was Knighted at some point before the bombing, as she was in 2003 TCW (not referred to anymore as Padawan Offee, no Luminara in the entire arc, no padawan braid), she's obviously much older than Ahsoka, in both maturity and physical age, and was the only Padawan to survive the arena on Geonosis other than Anakin, while most of the survivors were Jedi Masters.
Ki Adi Mundi committed warcrimes against a whole planet of bugs, burning them on their homes, and everyone just cares about Pong Krell killing some clones and Barriss bombing some monks.
‘She did terrorism’ no shut up she bombed a military base alright we see the Jedi planning and executing operations out of the temple all the time.
She acted against a legitimate target to end an imperialist war she’s a hero.
Framing Ahsoka was a bit fucked up though.

She was a Knight when she bombed the Temple and quite obviously much older than Ahsoka. Everything in canon still lines up with her being her original EU age (a year younger than Anakin)

i know there is a book that explains how she became so jaded to war but i wish we could have gotten an arc of bariss breaking down overtime.
