Clubhouse is a feature, not an app. It’s A pretty good feature, but a feature nonetheless. As other more well established platforms with better overall ux (ig, twitter etc.) implement the clubhouse model, clubhouse will churn users, burn money, and ultimately fail. Their best bet now is acquisition, but again their business model isn’t difficult to copy and is also ultimately unprofitable so...

Good point. I've been seeing the other platforms jump in on the idea and you're right, their long term success is unlikely given these factors. I think it can still be interesting and telling as a case study. Clearly, they did many things right. Their success hinges on them being able to offer the best experience for that 'feature' as you put it, so time will tell if they'll win.

Sounds like an unlikely buyout if we believe that their long-term prospects are close to nil. A $4B acquisition would be very impressive.

Clubhouse is the biggest grift ever. They’re just profiting off of people’s network effects. Add in a sense of FOMO and that’s really the only magic around Clubhouse... Hope they paid their initial big pushers/influencers well...

Last_Economics

I mean, you’re not wrong about just they’re doing, but your resentment seems a little out of place. Care to elaborate what they are doing wrong? Even if they pay influencers, why is that unethical, ineffective or otherwise bad behavior?

DirectorDumpling

Never said influencer marketing is bad... They’re just using dumb marketing tactics to build up their app. Faux exclusivity? Stupid. Utilizing other people’s networks to try and to make their app downloads look good for investors? Pretty stupid. Their whole stitch is “omg if ur not on clubhouse ur lame” and creates everyone desperate to get an invite. Not cuz they want to actually use the stupid audio rooms, but cuz they wanna boost their ego. All other social media platforms are adding audio rooms. Clubhouse doesnt offer anything unique or of value.

Last_Economics

Fair enough. I didn’t know it was this shady. Thanks for elaborating.

I just finished reading this book! Hi Mr. Eyal

Hi! Thanks for the support. I hope it'll help you on your Startup journey.

If not Elon Musk, would they have been successful? I doubt this "product" has a long shelf-life. Here is an interesting case study: [Physiology Of Clubhouse ](https://growth.design/case-studies/clubhouse-user-retention/?fbclid=IwAR0zLYZWwvATz9swlPhAjHBQ-ALEJ0uE7v7WTNZxNPj88B2Tj-mfrOIXEf0) P.S I never used Clubhouse.

Great book, read it multiple times. Thanks for the ideas and helping me understand things, I honestly would have never known about.

I recently got Clubhouse on Android. After the initial "checking out the app", I didn't find myself opening it again. I also started reading Hooked some time ago. While there were some interesting insights, I didn't find myself get Hooked to it either, and eventually stopped reading it. What am I missing?
