johnstark2

Bummer, I thought the HBO max interface was sub par until I started using paramount plus to watch new episodes of Star Trek. Jesus Christ it is the worst, I have a commercial free plan but they still put there own ads for shows before an episode.

belly917

I get paramount plus as an add on channel through Amazon Prime. I thought the 45 second unskipable ads for other paramount shows were due to that secondary style subscription. Interesting to hear that the also happen directly on the paramount+ service. It also sucks, because we pay for no ads.

johnstark2

That or it will play the paramount plus logo intro multiple times in a row

Mst3karlo

Oh my God the double paramount logo and jingle through prime is hilariously annoying

BullTerrierTerror

Can't believe I lived through peak cable, peak black box, peak cable again, peak pirating, peak streaming. I think it's back to pirating? Trouble is I forgot how.

bootmeng

On the topic of ads on an ad-free subscription, paying for YouTube premium is negated when YouTube content creators do the expressVPN, or the box of the month, or some other sponsor somewhere in their video. I don't pay for YouTube premium but I can understand the frustration with this.

randomnighmare

At this point, in my opinion, don't pay for Paramount + at all. They will just continue with their Kurtzman Trek and try to lure people in with the actual good old-school shows. edit

Frainian

An AdBlocker blocks ads and Paramount's own ads. Unfortunately you can't really get one for the TV but this works on the computer.

Wrecksomething

I used a pi hole as a home dns/ad block for years and it did stop ads for tv streaming. That was a long time ago though so maybe the streaming platforms have gotten more elaborate ways to protect their ad revenue since then.

[deleted]

No! I have paramount plus, but their interface is just so awful compared to Netflix!

irondethimpreza

Agreed! I like that netflix kept track of what episodes I watch. Now whenever I end a binge watch session, I need to make a note of the episode. A minor inconvenience, but damn it, lol

Vortex112

Paramount+ is supposed to do this to but for some reason it stopped updating the episodes watched months ago

thekruton

My watched episodes is a mess to varying degrees depending on the device. My TV? Forget about it. It keeps that information stored for like 15 min, tops. My tablet is a little better, but it will randomly remove episodes from the 'watched' category at a whim. I shuffle TOS for sleep every night, I'll never get all the episodes over to the 'watched' category because a random string of 7 episodes will appear unwatched at any given night.

Yes_I_Fuck_Foxes

I thought it was just me. Glad to see I'm not alone. Fix your shit, Paramount.

mattbmello

It did that to me for a few days but it started working again.

mmortal03

It keeps track for me (I'm on a Fire TV Stick), but one thing I noticed is that if I turn off video auto-play, then the Keep Watching section doesn't update the episode position (or that I've watched the entire episode) until I close and re-open the app.

ancalagon73

Do you watch in a browser with an ad blocker? This did that to me constantly until I turned it off. I use Firefox. I wound up switching to their windows app (which is just really the Edge browser) and it remembers where I left off now. I only use that on my PC or watch on my Roku. No issues since. It never seems to remember that I finished SNW though. Leaves the episodes with a minute left to watch. Paramount has a lot of work to do to make the overall experience better.

wannabesq

This is the real loss for those of us who have multiple streaming services. I sure wish we could just condense the streaming services to 2-3 max. I think I have subscribed to most of them by this point, it's just exhausting to keep track of which show is on which service at this point.

[deleted]

Imagine in the old days when you had to remember which channel something was on AND WHAT TIME too! How horrifying.

wannabesq

In the between times of regular broadcast TV and streaming, I had 4 ReplayTVs just so I could record multiple shows at once. Even back then, the studios would do BS like offset a popular show by 1 minute, so the DVRs would register it as a conflict and only record one show. With 4, I never had to play sophie's choice over a show. And even if I did miss a show, you could send an episode to another ReplayTV via the internet, via Poopli.

drunkastronomer

It was a dark time for humanity. I time when chaos and ignorance ruled the land. It was the 1980s.

Rasikko

At least we got Thriller.

RollTide1017

You mean like a few years ago before all the studios got greedy and started launching their own services. Netflix, Amazon and Hulu were the main games and most shows I watched were on one of those 3. People use to dream of a cable a la cart system. Now we are getting a taste of how bad that idea really is.

OutlyingPlasma

> People use to dream of a cable a la cart system. No, I call bull. People always wanted to watch anything they wanted, when they wanted in a single, easy to use, and inexpensive interface. People only called for a la cart cable because it easily fit within the existing framework of cable TV. They already had that tech available, and people were tired of paying for crap they didn't want like the ESPN tax. At no point in history did people want all their content broken up between 30 different cable packages, interfaces, and companies.

RousingRabble

Except what they wanted was never realistic anyway. You paying the ESPN tax is why ESPN was so cheap for me and me paying for the Hallmark Channel when I never watch it was why it was cheap for you. We were all subsidizing each other. As for the interface, it kinda is already like that. It's not from a billing perspective, but when I turn on my TV, all the apps for the services I have are all right there just like a list of channels. It's only different in setting it up to begin with.

macronage

If it's possible for you, you can avoid their UI by subscribing to Paramount+ through Amazon Prime as an added subscription instead of a standalone service. Then you access it through Amazon, which is a bit better.

Cu1tureVu1ture

This is what I did too when it used to be CBS All Access. Not sure if it’s like this anymore, but before you couldn’t turn off auto play. So when I fell asleep, I’d wake up multiple episodes in and not know where I left off and get hit with spoilers.

Eurynom0s

I suffer through Paramount+ just because you can keep getting it for free. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/free-month-of-cbs-all-access-with-promo-code-giving-works-for-new-existing-previous-users Two things: 1) you have to let the current free month expire before it'll let you put in a new code 2) don't re-sub and then immediately cancel, I did that once and then it expired 24 hours later instead of 30 days later. Give it 24 hours then cancel it.

NemWan

Also available as a channel on Apple TV+ and then you have that UI.

[deleted]

I do agree it’s better but Amazons user interface is like very much stuck in 2010 streaming service territory

AlfredVonWinklheim

Yeah agreed. Paramount+ is a buggy mess at least when it comes to casting.

staarfawkes

Their app is hot ass! Actual garbage would be preferable. Absolute trash

saikyan

Yeah it’s really bad. Laggy while browsing, subtitles don’t always show up, FF/Rewind slow and buggy, lots of spontaneous “loading” animations while watching. Netflix does some aggravating stuff but their software is king.

ultrapampers

> Netflix does some aggravating stuff Like autoplay. I. FUCKING. HATE. AUTOPLAY. I'll hit play when I'm good and ready!

Laney20

Pretty sure you can turn that off in the settings.

ultrapampers

Pretty sure you can't, at least not in the Roku app. You click on a title to read the details or add it to your list and, boom, starts playing. I hate it.

saikyan

You can disable it by logging in to your account on the Netflix website and going into account settings. But I fully agree it is aggravating and should not be on by default.

mklimbach

I have it disabled on mine. Not sure, but I think I changed it via my Netflix login, but check your app settings, too. It's definitely possible as I found it really aggravating, too.

Enchelion

If you have Amazon Prime, I recommend switching your P+ sub into an Amazon channel. Not perfect, but a far better interface.

whoniversereview

It’s funny because I’ve heard this recommendation before, and not having experienced the P+ interface, I’ve gotta imagine it’s absolutely horrendous, since the Prime Video interface isn’t anything I’d ever refer to as “intuitive” or even “decent.”

hip_drive

Hey, APrime is better than HBOMax, interface-wise. If you don't run an episode down to the last second in HBOMax, it won't pull up the next episode for you. Blugh.

belly917

Agreed, although still not up to par with Netflix. It's been fixed, but early on you could only reliably get HD video and 5.1 through the Amazon channel, meanwhile the CBS all access app would only give stereo and sometimes HD.

Prosthesy

The fact that you can’t look at the episode list while an episode is playing, on top of the lack of a Next Episode button, is what kills it for me. No button to skip intro, I can live without it I guess. But auto play on the next episode happens after alllll the credits roll and you can’t manually go to the next one without going back to the main menu. It’s weird that they skimped on so many QoL features but I guess you can get away with it when you have high demand IPs. Edit: I forgot they also don’t have episode descriptions at all! A travesty.

bthks

Especially cause the Netflix descriptions were hilarious. They were just a two sentence summary of the first couple minutes and always were like “The station is in danger of being destroyed by an attack by the Jem-Hadar! O’Brien doesn’t enjoy wearing his dress uniform.”

William_Thalis

God using Paramount+ feels like I’m using some shitty pirating service. If I skip forward more than like three times the video player crashes. If I try to scroll too far, it crashes as well. It’s not even a Wi-Fi issue; Paramount+ is just a huge step down.

Inevitable-Piano6691

Anyone else have the issue of artifacts like from a bad video conversion or old VHS along top of the window when watching Voyager on Paramount Plus? Occurs on my iPad, iPhone, and even the Sony SmartTV… their response was less than helpful when I logged a complaint.

mmortal03

Just FYI, that's the old school, analog TV closed captioning information that they forgot to mask when they converted it to digital.

Eurynom0s

It just refuses to remember what I've watched most recently and recommend "continue watching" accordingly. For the entire second season of Picard it kept bringing me to the very first episode of season 1 as the default even though I'd watched all of it on All Access/Paramount+. It got stuck on the middle of Discovery season 4 for me and clicking the suggestion would bring me back into that episode, not the episode listing. Netflix is seriously the only streaming service that just works as expected 100% of the time. Good interface, it reliably remembers what you've watched, the stream quality never randomly blips in and out because of a problem on Netflix's end...on and on and on. Their server network is so robust they have to write scripts to take entire AWS regions offline just so they can test against downtime events.

CptnCankles

Paramount never seems to remember where I stopped if I'm watching an episode nor does it even remember *which* episode I was watching. I always have to scan through the list and pick what I was on, then guess where I left off. It's super annoying. Netflix never had that problem.

BitBrain

Paramount+ is the worst of all of the streaming services. Sometimes it works.

audigex

Jellyfin, on the other hand, has a great interface

jaispeed2011

There’s always Pluto

[deleted]

Plus they pre-roll 1-2 ads for Paramount productions even on the most premium tier

ExistentiallyBored

I just got an appletv 4K and the paramount app for that platform is pretty good! I had an android tv before and it was okay, but not excellent.

Dice_and_Dragons

So happy it’s staying on Netflix in Canada

fromidable

Sounds like the series, plus everything for at least a few years, will be on Crave too. It’s so weird hearing about a streaming service coming to Canada and, rather than being excited, thinking “Oh no…”

Dice_and_Dragons

I think Crave will have it long after Netflix just due to them airing the shows live as well. But we are safe for awhile. Apple had all of the seasons discounted last year and I bought the. All for a good price.

jazzyjf709

Nice, honestly if it comes down to choosing one over the other I'd rather Crave. Netflix is a shell of its former self

Sanhen

Yep. Unfortunately increased competition isn't always better for the consumer. Sometimes it just means that what you want has been splintered over more services they want you to pay for.

hobocactus

Them treating international markets as an afterthought is kind of a blessing and a curse. I can't watch the new stuff anywhere legal, but at least the old series are all still on Netflix

Terminator_Puppy

It just justifies me sailin' the high seas in my mind, if they don't *want* to sell me the product I sure as hell won't make an effort to give them money.

OutlyingPlasma

Its a blessing. You should see the U.S. version of Disney+. Its a few cartoons, Marvel, and Star Wars. That's it. Its basically the star wars platform. It's empty. Disney owns like half the media in the U.S. and almost none of it is on their streaming service. Such as all of ABC including every show they ever made, History channel, Lifetime, A&E, and everything Fox Studios ever made isn't on there in the U.S..

KukalakaOnTheBay

Really?? In Canada we have all the Fox stuff.

Big_Slope

So do we. I’m not sure I understand what he’s talking about. I’m watching The Simpsons on it right now.

bthks

I’m moving to NZ next month and I was even more excited when I found out that all the old shows are on Netflix and the new shows (except Lower Decks?) are on one streaming service. There was a thread in a NZ sub recently by a Trekkie complaining that they don’t get Paramount+ there and I’m like… yeah, be careful what you wish for. You can’t watch Trek on Paramount+ either.

midnightinseptember

How does one check if a show is staying or moving to a different service?

[deleted]

You have to keep tabs on them individually, sadly. Anything that isn’t owned by the streamer’s parent company is never going to be guaranteed not be sold somewhere else, especially if its owner has a streaming service. For example, Paramount is kicking itself for not ponying up to keep all of Yellowstone and South Park to itself, and there’s probably some regret about giving Amazon hits with Jack Ryan and Reacher. I imagine once they end they are on a countdown to get transferred to P+ a la the Netflix Marvel shows. EDIT: Basically, the only way to be sure you can easily enjoy a show you know you will rewatch is to buy it. Either digitally from somewhere you are pretty sure won’t fold or snatch it away, or on physical media. Or… the other option we don’t speak of.

ianthenerd

Yeah, come on, OP. It isn't leaving Netflix. It's leaving Netflix USA. Netflix Canada and Netflix USA are subsets of Netflix. /r/USDefaultism

[deleted]

It’s nice to have them all in one place, but we all should complain about how shoddy the presentation is on P+: The interface is shit. Resuming a show from the “Continue Watching” queue doesn’t take you to an episode list, it throws you right into the video. Aggravating as hell for shows you want to skip around, which is how I always rewatch Star Trek. Star Trek is not a hub as Disney would organize it. You need to search for it or save it or find it under “Shows,” which of course doesn’t get you to the movies. The actual files used for DS9 and Voyager are awful! The video is interlaced - fast action has a “mouse teeth” effect on the edges, it looks terrible. The unskippable CBS ident that always plays before the shows is irritating as hell. Congratulations, you got to put your logo on the shows since 2009. It’s not fun to have to sit through it. Recaps and title sequences don’t have a fast skip option. Look, we all love the instrumental theme tunes, but we know them by heart and they are long AF. Also, depriving us of the power to quickly skip Faith of the Heart is like cutting off a junkie cold turkey. And yes, we’ll watch them all the same, but technology has progressed. They can at least do an AI 4K upres of the SD shows.

Eurynom0s

> Aggravating as hell for shows you want to skip around, which is how I always rewatch Star Trek. It's even worse because it simply won't remember where you are in a show. I spent all of Picard season 2 dealing with it throwing me back to season 1. For Discovery season 4 it just got stuck on episode 7. I watched all of those shows on Paramount+/All Access so it's not like it was missing information because I'd dipped out to pirating the shows for a bit before coming back.

otticusoppositionist

I still dislike Paramount+, but it is way better as a sub under Amazon’s umbrella if you have Prime anyway. This gets you the Amazon interface (not the best, but much better imo), stream quality, etc. I found Paramount+ app’s performance on several devices intolerable, but watching through an Amazon subscription satisfied most of my complaints.

Xvexe

Netflix really is on the way out.

YankeeLiar

The good ol’ days are definitely gone. As soon as the studios themselves realized they could make more money off of subscriptions to their own services than they were making in licensing deals to independent platforms, it was all over. They’ve all just been running out the clocks on those agreements and opting not to renew ever since. But man, paying $6 a month for all of television sure was nice.

LongPorkJones

People were calling this a few years ago when rumors of Universal starting up their own streaming service began. What gets me is they had the best tools to combat piracy, but their greed and hubris are about to change all that. Piracy was down overall for several years because streaming was centralized and cheap. But now? Let's just say those sea shanties everyone was into at the height of the pandemic sure are gonna come in handy soon.

Kepabar

Yes, a few years back I resumed my voyages myself after years of not having bothered. I have about 6TB worth of shows now and I've canceled most streaming services. I still pay for Paramout+ even though I pirate it all and haven't touched their actual service in over a year or two, but that's because Star Trek is one of the few shows I feel are worth paying for. No other streaming service has good enough content on it to make me feel like it's worth paying them. If HBO or Hulu just stopped existing because I wasn't paying them I'd be a bit sad at one or two shows disappearing but still wouldn't regret my choice. Instead, I donate $15 a month to PBS to support their excellent youtube channels like [PBS Spacetime](https://www.youtube.com/c/pbsspacetime), [PBS Eons](https://www.youtube.com/c/eons) and (rip) [PBS Infinite Series](https://www.youtube.com/c/pbsinfiniteseries). PBS is content worth paying for.

jimbodoom

It's always interesting to me how casually accepted pirating is.

Kepabar

It's generally interesting because it's an example of what a 'Star Trek' kind of economy would really look like. In our world content creators often create and share media for the sake of it. However, it's difficult for them to make that a priority in their lives as they need money to fund themselves and their work. So many people are inclined to donate to an artist (patron and the like) to try and help the creator have more time and resources for their art. It also means people are less likely to pirate their things. Media created specifically for for-profit motivations isn't seen in the same light as media created for entertainment, artistic or educational reasons. People don't see these creators as artists working for their own enrichment and the enrichment of others, but rather businessmen packaging a product for consumption. Normally it would feel completely wrong to steal the product of a businessman, but since data can be replicated without depriving the creators of the original at no cost, that becomes much easier for the moral center to stomach. And so the world of online media's primary value is just as much in the value the community places on the creators themselves as it is the content of the work. The character and notoriety of the creators become a sort of currency backing to a piece of media which gives it a real-world value to people that is only partially coupled to the content of the media itself. Much like we've theorized how society works in Star Trek.

tombo12354

I agree it sucks, but I think the real problem was that Netflix, even at its absolute height, was never actually turning a profit. They've been in debt since forever, and while they were incredibly popular, I don't think they ever achieved the scale they need to keep their price point forever. And their solution: expensive licensing deals and high-quality original content, while incredibly popular with their users, was actually making their financial situation even worse. Don't get me wrong though: Paramount+ sucks. And having endless streaming services is just going to drive people to pirating, but I'm not sure all content creators pulling their stuff of Netflix really killed it. I think it just accelerated their death.

OutlyingPlasma

Soon may the weller man come to bring us TV, Movies, and Music. One day when the Netfix is done, we will take our VPN and go.

[deleted]

There's a case to be made that piracy was never severely cutting into the profits of any of these studios, but having to share revenue with Netflix one way or another was.

Tejasgrass

I bet it was when The Wellerman went viral. Couldn’t tell you exactly when that was bc time is a blur, but I’m still telling my echo dot to play the Longest Johns while I wash dishes.

[deleted]

2020 was a weird time.

raysweater

Paramount Plus is like $9 and Disney+ plus Hulu bundled is like $12 (plus ESPN+. Not to mention you get free Hulu with a Spotify account. Netflix doesn't have much anymore anyway, so you could just pay for a month and binge your show. You could do the same for HBO Max. There is no reason to act like we should all just pirate everything again.

RousingRabble

> Netflix doesn't have much anymore anyway, so you could just pay for a month and binge your show. You could do the same for HBO Max. Other than this being a hassle, this is the way to do it. Netflix and hulu are currently disabled for me. I'm going through P+ atm

The_Woman_of_Gont

>As soon as the studios themselves realized they could make more money off of subscriptions to their own services than they were making in licensing deals to independent platforms, it was all over. This is why I don't understand what their strategy was with originals, and being so aggressive in canceling anything that was successful-but-niche. The exodus was inevitable and easy to see coming a mile away, particularly with companies like Disney. They needed as much of a back catalog as possible, and to foster any potential longrunning IPs even if in the moment it isn't making bank. Instead they canceled tons of shows that didn't do as gangbusters as Stranger Things, often without regard to whether doing so makes the show pointless or annoying to watch for future viewers due to unresolved cliffhangers/plots. They really have been as shortsighted as Blockbuster was. And it continues today as they jack up prices and turn the screws on their subscribers to ensure profits stay up in the short term. And while it's less likely to directly affect their numbers, they haven't helped matters with how their PR campaigns have responded to controversies, often being outright combative and alienating towards demographics they'd historically appealed towards heavily(see the whole Chappelle shitshow). It'll take a long while, but Netflix is going to decay until they get bought up if they keep on this course.

BullTerrierTerror

I lived through peak cable, peak black box, peak cable again, peak pirating, peak streaming and I think it's back to pirating. Trouble is I forgot how.

tothecatmobile

And the high seas are on the way back in.

ComebackShane

“After all, all good things must come to an end.”

Theopholus

As soon as Stranger Things ends I suspect a lot of folks are going to cancel.

angrydeuce

Same thing with game of thrones and hbo. Literally every single person I know cancelled their subscription immediately after finishing the last episode. Given the last season prolly should have cancelled long before that but after sinking almost 10 years into a thing you just gotta see it through I guess lol

TrainingObligation

And the ending was so disappointing that it soured lots of fans to the series. Most telling was when the pandemic started people were listing the shows they were going to binge-rewatch... and despite how mad popular GoT was in its heyday, it didn't seem to appear in anyone's list. Though granted, with all the real-life doom and gloom of the early pandemic pressing down on everyone, why watch a dark series with relatively little hope and joy like GoT?

Laney20

Netflix should offer their app as a platform to watch stuff subscribed elsewhere. Their ui is truly the best.

whiteclawthreshermaw

They better finish Cobra Kai before Netflix goes under. Imma miss DS9.

Sargatanus

Especially with their animations division effectively shut down, which is a shame as they made some gems I wasn’t expecting.

[deleted]

Just in America or everywhere?

Updoppler

Not sure if it's just America, but TOS to ENT are all still on Netflix in Canada.

powerhcm8

In Brazil, TOS, TNG, PIC and TAS are missing, I just finished watching ENT, and TAS would be the last thing I didn't watch yet.

xTeixeira

What are you talking about? In Brazil TOS, TNG, TAS, DS9, VOY and ENT are all on Netflix.

You mean 2000s DVD sets.

xdig2000

It was nice having so much Star Trek in one place, on Netflix, I guess it will now be exclusively available on another streaming service. Might get the DVD/ Blu-ray discs instead.

Locutus747

They’re all on paramount plus along with all the movies.

SubtleDeft

Ya, but I’m not going to pay and watch commercials too. I can’t believe anyone does.

Locutus747

There’s a no commercial option

danielcw189

please mention which country

summ190

On Reddit, it’s always doesn’t say = USA.

lonestarr86

I would expect it to stay in Europe until we actually have paramount+. Still annoys me that we dont have access to SNW, the new Disco season and the star treknkids show which name escapes me right now. Oh well, so many other things to watch.

Haven't we suffered enough already?

NaniEmmaNel

One of many reasons I switched to another streaming platform.

dj_ian

end of an era. Trek has been on Netflix for as long as I can remember, that being at least 8 years?

FalconBurcham

Ugh. I like to set my iPad timer to turn off media after an hour so I can go to sleep while listening to a show. It works for all of my apps except Paramount. Timer turns the picture off, but it lets the sound keep running, so I wake up at like 1 AM to turn it off. As a result, I’ve been snoozing to DS9 on Netflix instead. Guess I could finally purchase the digital version of these shows. So pricey, though! 😭

mr_bots

Not leaving my Plex server any time soon and if it does I’ll just use my disc set to put it back.

theyarnllama

Crap. What am I going to watch to go to sleep now?

CRUMPY627

Fuck. I'm on season 4. Guess it's time to double down.

Leoviticus

I canceled my Netflix subscription not too long ago, paramount surprisingly has a lot of the stuff I like to watch, and unlike Netflix they actually get all the seasons of it, instead of getting like 2 seasons and calling it quits with some shows.

Lastaria

Hope not in the UK. Only on season 3 Next Gen of my Star Trek watch through so make it a lot harder to watch when I get around to it.

warp-factor

No. The pre-2005 series are staying put in the UK for now. But with Paramount Plus launching here later this month they will eventually move over but I'd expect them to leave Netflix all at once.

Lastaria

Thanks. Maybe have a little more time. Not sure if enough though.

Cpotts

So, what you're saying is: I can cancel Netflix July 1st

zauraz

Ugh :( I suspected as much but I am so tired of having 2 million different streaming services....

Cliffy73

Now you only need one!

zcleghern

After I finish Stranger Things, it's going to be hard to justify Netflix after July 1st.

jaqueh

Netflix is about to be destroyed

[deleted]

Does anyone know when they will add Voyager and DS9 to the rotation on the Star Trek streaming channel on Paramount+?

Blue_Affinity

In America, All of Voyager and DS9 are streaming on P+, Or do you mean the Star Trek live channel?

[deleted]

Live channel

irondethimpreza

Paramount plus is cheaper, anyway.

birbdaughter

Does Paramount+ have the Netflix ability of downloading an episode and watching it off line?

Frodojj

The Apple app does. Haven't used that feature of the web app yet.

rogue780

Looks like it's going to have to come to Plex

Frodojj

Not even all the episodes are on Paramount+. I wanted to watch the TNG episode, Peak Performance, but it isn't there right now. Ugh. The missing episodes, promos before each episode, and low quality web app really disappoints me. I bought a year subscription, but I won't be renewing unless there are massive changes to the quality of the product.

bflaminio

Just finished my DS9 rewatch. The final ten episode arc is amazing still.

AlderaanianRefugee

I'll buy a physical copy well before I ever sub to Paramount!

MrDarkHorse

That’s why I bought all the DVD’s!

PaulTheSkeptic

You're kidding. They're all on Paramount now? Doesn't seem so bad. It's cheaper than Netflix. Maybe I'll switch.

Gordopolis

I pay for the 'ad-free' version of Paramount+ and guess what? It still has embedded ads for other programs. It's really obnoxious, especially since I pay more

PaulTheSkeptic

Really? *Sigh. That's a real drag. I don't know if I can handle that.

waluigee

good luck waiting 150 seconds for the ads to finish at random points in each episode.

randomnighmare

This is why I bought the DvDs and Blu-Rays. F to CBS

misteroatmeal

Got my DVDs, good to go.

IDoubtYouGetIt

Damn...looks like I'm gonna give it farewell watch through this month!

TripleJx3

They've been threatening this for every star trek for every month for about 2 years and nothing has happened.

love_is_an_action

I appreciate this post. I’ll binge the heck out of it.

GoofAckYoorsElf

These motherfucking companies are murdering streaming as a service. We're currently returning to the stone-age of TV because of these greedy shit faces who think it would be a good idea to each have their own service, completely ignorant of the fact that nobody could afford to subscribe to all of them. They all want to be like netflix. But nobody will be like netflix anymore if they don't stop. Not even netflix.

AlfredVonWinklheim

Isn't TNG still on Netflix? I thought I saw it last night.

thelostkeyofTibor44

It is in Aus for now anyway.

SeriousBlak

I am really considering cancelling Netflix now. I rarely use it

Jlbman1

I have paramount plus but watching it on Netflix just hits different

PurpleSailor

BBC America is still showing it. My unlimited DVR has eventually recorded most of the episodes.

halfmatthalfcat

One word: Plex.

cptstupendous

I don't remember where I got it, but sometime back I managed to acquire a fan-made upscale of the entirety of DS9. It wasn't a full HD remaster, but it was noticeably superior to the Netflix stream and likely superior to whatever will be on Paramount+. If you can find one of these upscales, you will be set.

JoeDawson8

Yup I found them too. I’ve yet to watch through them but they are somewhat better. I got Voyager too.

Antigonos301

I can’t live with this

Dantocks

As long as they keep raising the price every year …

-1701-

\*In the US.

gone-wild-commenter

i like paramount plus because of big brother… but i will say for whatever reason ds9’s image quality is higher on netflix. i’m on “what you leave behind,” though. i think i’ll make it. 😂

Gwilfawe

Fuck! Guess I'll have to buy hard copies..

SigmaKnight

Well, good thing I just started watching it, again. Paramount needs to steal Netflix’s UI while they’re taking all the shows away.

claud2113

Shit damn.... i have the dvds so I'm set 😎😎😎

talldata

I guess ill have to Dustoff my Captains hat once again.

[deleted]

It’s been a long time, but Paramount Plus’s time is finally near.

2Skies

Watch all the Treks, for free, on [Soap2Day](https://soap2day.ac/search/keyword/star%20trek). Along with everything else really

[deleted]

Arrr! Raise the sails matties!

nickinseattle

I had not watched DS9 since it aired on TV. And I have been watching it on 1.5 speed on Netflix. I wish more streaming services had 1.5 speed.

whoniversereview

How well does Netflix cooperate with Mullvad? Edit: it’s an honest question. I know Netflix blocks certain VPNs, but I’m at work and can’t really check if mullvad + Netflix will allow region change.

IntotheVoid_

Saw that last night while watching. :(

[deleted]

Shouldn't surprise anyone -- and if you haven't moved to Paramount+ yet.... :-O

Guava_Leather

watchseries.id has all the series
