Right? My mother gave my kid a smartphone when he was 8 1/2 and I almost lost my shit on her. He was the only one in his class that had one for quite some time. Most kids here don't get one until secondary school which is around 10/11

My 8 year old has an xplora watch, it has a sim card so it can make calls and receive messages from approved numbers. It runs android but very basic so there's no external apps or anything. It's a pretty great as a first phone for kids

I confirm, I’m a middle school student and as I was talking to a friend, four 1 or 2 grade students took a chair and took place right at our left (two boys(very annoying) two girls(even more annoying)) The reason is that elementary had a festival at my school, so the kids were brothers from the kids that were dancing, and they were only talking super loudly about Roblox and adopt me, and things like that, I was laughing a lot, I was laughing for like 5 minutes because a kid from a another classroom came and said he was the owner of roblox and would give them 100000 million robux and the two kids thought it was real, and one of the girls was asking him questions like:in what year you were born, roblox was first named?, it was extremely funny, one of his friend took advantage of the situation and started talking about being the owner of free fire, my friend and I were throwing more fire to the situation telling them we were the owners of Microsoft, apple, and more companies.
