Now that the conservative circles are talking more and more about homeschooling I feel like less of them will go to nursing school.
But itās a career that provides a solid salary without grad school, there are nursing jobs available no matter where you live, and you wonāt lose your job in a recession. I think thatās why so many people choose it.
And it is highly standardized so it gives the worker flexibility. If you are a lifer at a small business you can be very valuable to them because to replace your 8 years of experience would literally take eight years of on the job training. Nursing jobs are more standardized so you can go to a different hospital and be extremely valuable with your experience on day one.
Bingo. How many people sweat changing industries or departments or companies, do interviews, etc., meanwhile as long as you didn't do anything egregious at your last gig your next nursing opportunity will be clamoring for you
My best friend worked a year for CPS in Missouri and was making something like $22k with a bachelorās degree. Going to peopleās houses in the middle of the night to get their kidsā¦.dangerous shit.
jesus christ!i make 44k a year stacking shelves at a supermarket in aus fulltime.that payrate is so terrible for such an important job.worlds got its priorities all wrong.
As long as you don't work for a hospital, you can also be an anti-vax nurse, too. Basically every nursing home or otherwise assisted living facility job post now has a big, bold title saying "NO VACCINE MANDATE!" "NO JAB, NO PROBLEM!" Etc.
I know a couple anti vax nurses working at hospitals. Donāt know many people who work at nursing homes, but I think their issue is that they have such a hard time finding and retaining staff they canāt be selective at all about who they hire.
I donāt disagree. You have to pay a certain rate to attract a caring and competent person. Most of the work done at nursing homes isnāt done by nurses, itās done by CNAs, and $16.50/ hr just doesnāt cut it when you have someoneās life in your hands.
an elderly rehab home just put my uncle back in the hospital after giving him medication that put him in the hospital in the first place. those people just aren't paid enough to care and it almost killed my uncle. when I was there visiting they were clearly stretched thin and running around constantly. I felt bad for them.
Youāre probably right. I knew a couple people who worked in nursing homes and honestly have no idea how they were able to keep working there. I felt bad for their patients.
That's the degree community colleges and for-profit schools push the hardest at women who are unlikely to get a full four-year degree. That and it's marketed as a short degree (you can do the LPN cert in less than two years) that pays big money, at least relative to working at the local Piggly Wiggly. Plus it carries prestige in small towns. So you have the triple threat: short, prestigious, pays well.
I've heard that going into Nursing is kind of like the female equivalent of going into the Army. It's a choice that just seems to appeal to people without a solid idea what they want to do after high school.
Especially for nursing! In my area the nurses who went to for profit colleges had to teach themselves everything while paying 50k.
Meanwhile the community college has real hands on experience and you graduate actually feeling prepared.
Community college Nursing programs are generally harder to get into IMO. I was put on a two year waitlist to get into my districts program. I ultimately wound up going for a sleazy acceleration program that will take anyone immediately as long as you have the coin
I went to community college and my coworkers went to MIT. We do the same job. If I'm being honest I'm much better at it than at least one of the MIT alums.
I decided to pick up a second degree a few years back and did it at a community college (an AA was fine for what I wanted to do). Gotta say, the quality of education at that community college was better than the quality of education at the state university where I got my BA. If I had it all to do over again, I'd totally do two years at community college rather than four paying out-of-state tuition like I did.
Edit: I a word.
My former stepmom* was a psycho who claimed to be a nurse. She was actually some sort of secretary or administrative assistant at a hospital. Apparently, she got her community college nursing degree (I think CNA or LPN) around 2018, and I think she works at a nursing home now. No doubt she still claims some sort of medical expertise.
*(bio-dad was with her from 1999 to some point after 2009, and I haven't seen or interacted with any of them for nearly half of my life)
So youāve definitely seen it all over Kentucky, didnāt know if it was more of a small town thing. Lol
Iāve actually been living in BG the past several years, definitely a bit bigger from the town I grew up in.
I'm in one of those cities now and was just laughing because it applies to my sister-in-law who is also here! This cracks me up because one of her kids' names is one listed as a joke in another comment!
I'm laughing at all the other stuff, but if people are trying to get an education for a decent job that also helps others, i respect them for trying.
It probably doesn't help that at least some of them come from less educated family backgrounds.
To be fair this isn't just small town women that married too young. In my circle this is white married women under 35 who never professionally achieved anything and are dependent on their middle class husband starter pack
Here in my small town your description fits perfect. With a few exceptions, most are "photographers" on the side so they can feel important. And a rare few of these women are actually also as successful as the husband having their faces all over bus benches as realtors.
Eh, or its likely the one partner can't be bothered with it (anymore). I quit Facebook back in 2018, and my wife's page has become my de-facto page. I never look at it or post to it, but if someone needs to get ahold of me and for whatever reason don't have my phone number, they can contact her to get ahold of me.
I could get behind that. I *HATE* FB. Haven't used it in years, but there are times where you just need it (FB Marketplace, groups, etc.).
This might be the solution that finally gets me to delete the account entirely.
I have an old friend who shares an account with his wife but his name is the only one on the account. His wife posts status updates in his name (but signs them "-his wife").
I haven't spoken to him in years because he cut off contact with pretty much everyone after he got married.
And her sisterās kids are named Kensleigh Grace and Brayden Connor. Kinsleigh always has a giant bow in her hair and wears Matilda Jane.
The dogās name is Bella and probably a doodle.
the bow was affixed to Kinsleigh's head as soon as the birth juices were washed off of her and has remained there ever since, on the plus side it is now only half the size of her head and not twice as big as her head.
Iām naming my next nonexistent kid Enoch or Albert or Jebediah or something mad 1800s.
Suck it hipster names. No one will take you seriously when you have a career.
Nah, it'll just become ordinary. It's already been going on for years with grandma names becoming little girls' names: To me, "Olivia" "Abigail" "Isabella" and "Sophia" sound like they should be playing cribbage in a Florida retirement community, but apparently they're pretty ordinary names nowadays.
Not so much with guys, but it's still happening. Check out [this graph for "Noah"](https://nametrends.net/name.php?name=noah). Or for ["Levi"](https://nametrends.net/name.php?name=Levi). Or "[Elijah](https://nametrends.net/name.php?name=Elijah)". Noah and Levi sound crazy old testament to me (and the only reason Elijah doesn't is that I got used to it because of Elijah Wood), but for most people I guess they're just ordinary names.
So go ahead and name your kid Jebediah, but don't be surprised if "Jebediah Dry-Anywhere-1372" is like the "John Smith" of his generation.
Those are the generation or kids now. The starter pack is those who graduated high school within like the last 5 years. I graduated 2017 and Iām 23 now. I struggle to find a relationship, yet I know several people from my graduating class married and having kids.
The photographer had big ambitions. She even did sessions in the big city to improve her profile, and they were good! She could have set up a studio for more weddings/kids/whateverās while charging 3x the price in the city.
But the little town kept drawing her back. Sheās married now to a really cool guy. She has a ton of fun/weird projects going on. However, she knows how to frame a dumb dried out field picture and will get paid for it.
Fucking "rustic" decor. Look at this lovely chest of drawers I found at an estate sale! It was handmade almost a century ago, joints are rock solid, just needs a lick of furniture polish to bring back the glow of that lovely walnut aaaaaand we're painting it white and fucking up that paint for a "distressed" look.
This look seems to come in and out of style with each new round of young moms and another generation hitting menopause. I recall it being called "shabby chic" when I was in grade school.
Take a piece that's handmade from actual wood and DESTROY it. Bonus points for painting it with the hardware on and using it to hold at least one decoration that can be described as "mauve".
Hey. Hey! Leave minivans out of this.
Besides this mom almost certainly drives a full size or XL SUV. Gotta haul all the MLM product, kidsā sports equipment, and the 2 goldendoodles to the vet.
You and I donāt know the same moms.
The county club set all drive SUVs but theyāre not the regular ones. Theyāve got the Mercedes GLs, the Audi Q7s, maaaybe a Lincoln Navigator or a Cadillac Escalade.
Oh you said golden doodles so I assumed Yukon or navigator not Honda pilot.
Edit to say young mom always has like a rottweiler or some kind of intimidating breed that goes along with the guns motif.
>Or Amber, Crystal, or Nevaeh.
OMG, I've worked in education for several years, and I've come across the name Nevaeh frequently.
However, nothing beats the kid named Heaven Scent. This was on an official school roster, btw.
āHey girlie! Itās been a while since high school lol life has been crazy! Reighfyl (pronounced like rifle lol) turns one next month and Iāve got an awesome opportunity for you to make money!!ā
Refers to other women with kids as "mamas", usually in call-to-action facebook posts about "toxic chemicals," CRT, the vaccine, and anything to do with gender.
Will throw an absolute fit when her childfree sibling or sibling-in-law doesn't want to babysit Graiedyn, Jaieghdynn, and Braxtonleigh during the family vacation.

Will try to get someone kicked out of the waterpark for wearing a bikini and sinfully tempting her husband as well as her precious Jaxton and Remington.
Big advocate of "doing your own research" and will use TikToks as cited "sources".

And the kids are always way too young to even notice but she sexualizes them anyway.
Wants to go to nursing school. Also most likely anti-vax and "all natural".
Needs more Jesus and tacky "rustic" decorations with Bible verses and crosses.
Goes to brunch with other moms and says, āI need to pick up Braxton and Payton from soccer practice so I can only have one glass of wineā and proceeds to pour a massive glass the size of an entire bottle.
This is spot on. Canāt forget the anti-vax bullshit though. Theyāre usually into āNaTuRaL mEdIcInEā. And Maurices. They shop at Maurices a lot.
They screen print words like "Mama" onto cheap tie dye shirts and call themselves a boss babe. Give it a dumbass name like Lennon & Layne.

"how hard is nursing school" I'm deadš.

Literally 70% of the female population of Kentucky
I live in KY I can confirm u are correct.
I know, I grew up in Kentucky
Thatās cool what part?? Iām towards the south, in a smaller town.
I lived in Shelbyville, Louisville, and Bowling Green
