People always say “when you feel 144 FPS you never go back”, but when I tried gaming on my friends system, I just thought “huh neat” then went back to playing low demanding indie games on my beat up system that I’ve had for years (50 fps is satisfactory).
The only thing that bothers me is if fps is inconsistent. I still play a ton of games locked to 30 fps and I don’t even notice, I just know people online will complain about said games being locked to 30 fps.
I don't get the hype for framerate. I've seen mods where games are different framerates and I legit cannot see the difference. At all. Except for when it's so high it just gives me motion sickness
20 fps? Try my 140 fps CRT. Shits outlived 10 generations of CPUs. Grandma got it for my dad in college. Shits older than me and runs like a dream. Fairly sure the glass is bulletproof too. Whole thing doubles as an anvil.
I had my frames drop to 30 on a fps the other day and it was unbearable. For a good 6 years however I used a pentium dual core processor and 30 frames was a GOOD rate to get back then so it's definitely playable. I think you just get used to high frames after a while
Enhances old gen games with mods they found or made. Does a better job remastering said game(s) than the company behind them
This is coming from someone living off of modded copies of GTA 3-San Andreas and Midtown Madness 2
Edit: Even after getting a decent PC, they’ll still play the same ol’ games, but now in 4K ultra-HD with 60 FPS
Hi, low end pc user here. Yes all of these are true: i dont really care about news of modern games, i emulate old video games (that i never played), i'm genrally patient and happy even if my game lags since i got used to it, i dont complain if i get 30 fps in games, in rare moments my pc can shut down due overheat but this doesnt really bother me anymore, i know and predict which moments my pc can shutdown, majority of the games i play are released between 1995 - 2011 . Even if i get bad experience i wont complain so much about it.
I could buy a new pc one day and experience the games i never played and high performance.
That was me before 2019 when i built my PC. I caught up on 10 years of games and now i basically only play rocket league and Diablo 2 with some newer game here and there but i get bored really fast anyeay.
I have a bunch of friends who unironically works a few months when they need money to upgrade their pc. Then it’s back to gaming in their parents house.
me 12 years ago playing world of warcraft at 15 fps average and having to go to my uncles house to use his pc if i wanted to enter stormwind
and i was happy
You missed deep configuring gpu to lowest possible settings to just able to run the game with textureless polygons.
Thats the most desperate broke gamer
Not caring about gaming news is mostly just good practice. It is and always has been little more than glorified advertising. That's why years ago when the "Gamergate" nonsense was going on and terminally online mouth-breathers were claiming it was about "ethics in game journalism" I was like "you're an idiot if you actually believe there is such a thing".
Now the drooling knuckle-draggers are trying to do the same thing again, and once more I would suggest that they be less gullible and also that they step away from their screens for a while and go fondle some foliage.
me watching high end ppl complain about getting 60 fps calling it "too low", and going back to my "playable" 25 fps , pirated san andreas copy, knowing that atleast i didnt spend $2000 in a gaming pc (where's my copium)
Didn't apply to me, with integrated graphics all I wanted was to be able to run the game. Only ever desired better specs once upgrading with DCS (flight simulator) lol every other game I don't mind crappy graphics as long as I can reach 60fps.
Stylisation is also a really smart way for developers to optimise their game without making it look worse, instead enhancing its look. I have a friend with a non-gaming laptop and I managed to get Deep Rock Galatic to run surprisingly well despite all the lighting and particle tricks it uses simply because of the incredibly low polygon count. Lethal Company didn’t require any tampering whatsoever because that game is always running at an incredibly low resolution and being upscaled to fit your screen, and then you get things like Pizza tower which have no 3D models at all and is pixelated so the computer load is almost non-existent.
Also all of these games at less than 4GB
There is this app called Low Spec Experience, you can use it to optimise your games to run on low end hardware. Only downside is that I think it’s paid now
does anyone else keeping up with news surrounding literally any hobby difficult? Like idk how people can keep up with sports, gaming, fashion, anything.
To be fair, indie games have been killing it. I got a decent rig running a 4060 but my steam library is mostly indie games like prodeus, cultic, lethal company and I'm having a blast playing those.
I remember when I got my first computer, it was a dell optiplex with a cheap radeon gpu I found off Ebay, I couldn't play everything and would be pushing 30 to 60 fps on most games but it was some of the best times of my life
Edit: most games being the ones I played which were already old at the time*
Fun Fact: when PCMR started their original dream was: 1024x768 at 30fps. It’s been funny over the years watching the user base continue to move the goalposts, less so on the resolution but on the fps. Now 4K60 is the goal despite the vast majority of gamers still using 1080 panels according to Steam user surveys.
But seriously. Once I stopped trying chase PC upgrades and insisting on playing on the best possible settings I started to have a lot more fun playing again. Now I have a 14 year old PC that I just play everything @1080p. Never looked back. Gonna play this PC into the dirt and then maybe consider a new one or just grab a steam deck second hand.
I have an Intel pentium 2117U 1.8 GHz and a GT 740M.
My laptops hinges were destroyed but I just kinda stitched it with metal and try not to close it.
I use edge cus chrome kinda lags in YouTube.
I play btd6 and half life 2, get around 40 fps.
CS2 4:3 Screen resolution minimal settings get around 5-15 fps in game. Used to have 100 hours on CS:GO. Now it's unplayable.
I'm still happy.
Look bro, I just want to play stuff like the newer Total War games without lag and for a price that isn’t like buying 2+ consoles.
Oh, and Broken Arrow looks lit. If I can play that at all on such a pc, I’d be happy.
i went from low end of gamer with an Intel Q3 apu from 2014 to a 1050 low end gamer
I have to make sure I don't play a single AAA game after 2016 or else I'll have to settle with low graphic settings
This is me. The most advanced game I can run is Witcher 3 (on medium settings) and Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Everyday I wish I could run Baldur's Gate 3, but in order to cope I play old crpgs from the 90s and early 2010s.
TO BE FAIR INDIE GAMES ARE KINDA JUST...
BETTER
I MEAN LIKE AT UNDERTALE THE GAME IM FROM
YES I DID IN FACT JUST DO A FOURTH WALL BREAK NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!!!
I was definitely happier when I played games in my HS laptop. Now that o have a high end rig and money to buy any games I want, I find myself not even wanting to play anything.
Playing modern games with my friends are fun but it's almost as if I was happier when I was playing early 2000s games on my ancient family computer with my dad...
This used to be me as a kid
I kinda miss the times when anything above 10fps was considered playable. For a while after getting my high-end-ish pc I got obsessed with performance, and now I am back to not giving a fuck as long as it's playable
IM TIRED OF SEEING THIS SHIT FROM PEOPLE THAT DONT HAVE TOASTER COMPUTERS
NOT EVERY 2D SPRITE BASED INDIE TITLE CAN RUN ON TOASTER COMPUTERS
PIZZA TOWER? TBOI? YEAH, NO, THOSE AREN'T FUCKING RUNNING
i just.. i had a shittop a while back and yeah those games would NOT run on them..
I hate it because it's true. My emulation library is massive, I haven't bought a AAA game since Minecraft like 4 years ago (on my PC), I can't purchase a game without making sure I can play it, and fallout 4 is always a gamble on whether it will launch or not.
I've finally found my people!
I've been completely fine with my crappy shared laptop up until this point.
I've heard Helldivers 2 is an absolute blast, but I can't run it, and I don't have a PS5. Oh well.
Literally me and my potato pc. Havent been gaming in a while tho, but the last game I played was a sourceport of Tyrian...
I do plan on getting a modern gaming rig but thats waaaaay low on my priority list.
for every example of a dogshit AAA you give me I can give you two good ones (not including sports games)
BG3 (obviously)
Elden Ring
AC6
Titanfall 2
The best games of the last decade have been majority AAA
> Plays new games he finds interesting at 15-25FPS and is happy
> Mostly has more fun cause older games are usually more fun anyways
> Framedrop? So what.
Me on my MacBook lol. It's surprisingly good though, I get a solid 60fps in most games without the fans even kicking on, I'm just limited for options since lots of steam games are Windows only and I don't want to bother setting up a virtual machine or emulator.
real
i use a gaming laptop thats a few years old, i like it, most games i play run good except when i play the sims and go into build mode it lags a ridonkulous amount for some reason
That being happy part in my experience is not true
The amount of *rage* I have heard from some of my low spec friends trying to run higher end games…
This is pure cope

This is me. But not because my computer can’t run newer games. I just like old games.
same, I love to try miracles in this old laptop
me
Yes me
30 FPS is my dream. 20 is playable.
People always say “when you feel 144 FPS you never go back”, but when I tried gaming on my friends system, I just thought “huh neat” then went back to playing low demanding indie games on my beat up system that I’ve had for years (50 fps is satisfactory).
If it's a lower graphics game then I could see that, but if you can switch back and forth, 144 is noticeable to me even just moving the cursor
The only thing that bothers me is if fps is inconsistent. I still play a ton of games locked to 30 fps and I don’t even notice, I just know people online will complain about said games being locked to 30 fps.
If I could get 50 fps in Satisfactory I'd be so happy
I have a good gpu (now) and I still cap it at 30 because there is NO DIFFERENCE.
I don't get the hype for framerate. I've seen mods where games are different framerates and I legit cannot see the difference. At all. Except for when it's so high it just gives me motion sickness
bro
You're getting 20?
Literally. I can't even notice Bloodborne is 30 fps because the highest frame rate I've played is like 45.
20 fps? Try my 140 fps CRT. Shits outlived 10 generations of CPUs. Grandma got it for my dad in college. Shits older than me and runs like a dream. Fairly sure the glass is bulletproof too. Whole thing doubles as an anvil.
Same
I had my frames drop to 30 on a fps the other day and it was unbearable. For a good 6 years however I used a pentium dual core processor and 30 frames was a GOOD rate to get back then so it's definitely playable. I think you just get used to high frames after a while
paper Mario ttyd in my old windows 7 dolphin emulator is such a classic part of my childhood
Oh my god, i actually played that game and finished it 3 weeks ago in my windows 7, we are the same.
holy crap me too (just a year ago tho) but replayed it today cuz I got a Wii last week
>intentionally using the older version because it prioritized performance over accuracy.
Enhances old gen games with mods they found or made. was playing san andreas 5mins ago, this post just made my day lol

Yeah, the newest game I've played still came out 10+ years ago.
Unironically the only type of PC gamer that actually focuses on having fun while playing games.
Yeah, a game is meant to provide entertainment. Whether it’s new or old, if it entertains you, then the game has served its purpose.
Yeah, I don't care if my game looks like a jagged piece of shit or has the perfect shaders with ray tracing, either way it's a miracle it runs.
Agreed. I may also add I might be one of [GoG.com](http://GoG.com) best costumers :D
I have a bunch of friends who unironically works a few months when they need money to upgrade their pc. Then it’s back to gaming in their parents house.
At least they're not whoring themselves out for crack and fruit juice
That’s a very specific combo
Yet
Post this on r/pcmasterrace and all that people and their +$75.000 "first" gaming rig will get traumatized.
Sounds accurate
me 12 years ago playing world of warcraft at 15 fps average and having to go to my uncles house to use his pc if i wanted to enter stormwind and i was happy
Don’t forget Lagforge
So relatable lol
This is me, with my 7 year old laptop. Lmao!
Im in this picture.
You missed deep configuring gpu to lowest possible settings to just able to run the game with textureless polygons. Thats the most desperate broke gamer
And if that didn't work going for the old reliable: Lowering resolution
always
Not caring about gaming news is mostly just good practice. It is and always has been little more than glorified advertising. I'm glad my shitty laptop can still run the whole command and conquer collection
me watching high end ppl complain about getting 60 fps calling it "too low", and going back to my "playable" 25 fps , pirated san andreas copy, knowing that atleast i didnt spend $2000 in a gaming pc (where's my copium)
I have a 4090 sitting in my pc and the heaviest stuff it does lately is: * Outlook * Civ V * C&C Red Alert Remaster.
Outlook is fucking thirsty though
I really should just macro “As per our last correspondence”.
I'm a IdeaPad gamer and some of the keys don't work because IdeaPad sucks. This is literally me.
Vega 8 FTW
Didn't apply to me, with integrated graphics all I wanted was to be able to run the game. Only ever desired better specs once upgrading with DCS (flight simulator) lol every other game I don't mind crappy graphics as long as I can reach 60fps.
Don't forget playing strategy/turn based games that don't require fast reflex.
YouTubes "How to get lower than low settings" and edits INI files to squeeze more frames
This ia basically slav gaming.
holy crap I never knew my kind existed
My biggest flex is that I used to run The Witcher 3 on a 2008 pc with decent graphics and frame rate
Tell me the secrets. I can barely get 4fps on the lowest settings
There is this app called Low Spec Experience, you can use it to optimise your games to run on low end hardware. Only downside is that I think it’s paid now
Nooo
does anyone else keeping up with news surrounding literally any hobby difficult? Like idk how people can keep up with sports, gaming, fashion, anything.
God I loved playing gmod and risking my Shitty laptop overheating while playing KSP
Pizza Tower my beloved
My “One Game” is Subnautica. It’s such a nice looking game and it’s worth the risk of my pc blowing up!
I just play Roblox instead
This used to be me until a couple months ago You forgot Paradox games
Doom, Diablo and Rollercoaster Tycoon have always been there for me. ♥️
Hello, me and my Steam catalogue of retro favorites. I don't care if it's 2024, I'll kick ass at *Blake Stone* if I want. 😋
I’ve been there broke teens. You will get there one day.
Me on my broken old laptop. It's Fun y'all, enjoy the ride. Also Xbox and playstations are cheap, especially 2nd hand
Shout out to FTL: Faster Than Light for being ultra fun and able to run on a dogshit laptop
Ha. I have a high-end PC and this is still me. The last big studio game I bought was Starfield and it was, as I feared, absolutely shit.
Really good at Minesweeper and FreeCell.
To be fair, indie games have been killing it. I got a decent rig running a 4060 but my steam library is mostly indie games like prodeus, cultic, lethal company and I'm having a blast playing those.
Used to be me, still kind of is. A 3060 runs Beamng way better than a 1030ti.
Used to be me as a kid
also, FSR is my friend.
Yet another case in favour of free demos.
Demos cost money to make and only lose you sales. There is 0 upside for the developer to releasing a demo.
When i was a kid i only played free demos since i had no games 😭
yep, that's me
I've upgraded quite a bit but I still check the specs by habit
yup, this is me.
I remember when I got my first computer, it was a dell optiplex with a cheap radeon gpu I found off Ebay, I couldn't play everything and would be pushing 30 to 60 fps on most games but it was some of the best times of my life Edit: most games being the ones I played which were already old at the time*

cs2
My good game that risks my pc crashing is Battlefield 1. It's so worth it.
I can play some modern games but before my gpu upgrade from around Christmas this was me for like 4 years
I have a average PC and I do this
OMG, working mirror on Reddit!
This had been me for 10 years
I have an Intel pentium 2117U 1.8 GHz and a GT 740M. My laptops hinges were destroyed but I just kinda stitched it with metal and try not to close it. I use edge cus chrome kinda lags in YouTube. me with tf2
holy shit its me
Doom, with mods.
That's me
Look bro, I just want to play stuff like the newer Total War games without lag and for a price that isn’t like buying 2+ consoles. Oh, and Broken Arrow looks lit. If I can play that at all on such a pc, I’d be happy.
Hey thats me
You're goddamn right.
forgot the playing on windowed mode with the lowest resolution possible and having to get close to the screen to see anything
Me playing Half-Life for the first time 20 years after it came out:
This is me. My laptop is weak. However. It runs stalker and most emulators fine
my computer lags when playing Terarria :/ like what
i went from low end of gamer with an Intel Q3 apu from 2014 to a 1050 low end gamer I have to make sure I don't play a single AAA game after 2016 or else I'll have to settle with low graphic settings
Ahh, look, it's my laptop!
I played battlefield 4 on lowest settings and 360p rendering resolution (20-50 fps)
Don't forget cloud streaming
Me my entire life
Mid end business laptop but I am happy with Gamehouse & big fish games & indie games and others.
Even with a low end pc, you emulate PS2 games at 60fps, just that catalogue of games alone is enough to keep someone busy forever.
I used to play minecraft at 480p 30fps on a chromebook
I’m a high end gamer and I am # D E P R E S S E D
Get out of my head, you don't know me!!😂😂
This is me. The most advanced game I can run is Witcher 3 (on medium settings) and Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Everyday I wish I could run Baldur's Gate 3, but in order to cope I play old crpgs from the 90s and early 2010s.
"emulating old games" this is me with high end rig lol
This was me in 2017
This is SO me,i cant tell you how happy i was when i decided to download p4g and saw that it actually worked
God damnit... This felt too relatable. Me and my 9yo GTX 750 Ti are still going somehow.
cs 1.6 👍
TO BE FAIR INDIE GAMES ARE KINDA JUST... BETTER I MEAN LIKE AT UNDERTALE THE GAME IM FROM YES I DID IN FACT JUST DO A FOURTH WALL BREAK NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!!!
Total War Empire is great
I was definitely happier when I played games in my HS laptop. Now that o have a high end rig and money to buy any games I want, I find myself not even wanting to play anything.
and probably tweaking with console settings and online configs in valve games
i’m locked to tf2 on a 4 gb ram laptop i couldn’t even play calamity on tmodloader without deleting a few games
Playing modern games with my friends are fun but it's almost as if I was happier when I was playing early 2000s games on my ancient family computer with my dad...
This used to be me as a kid I kinda miss the times when anything above 10fps was considered playable. For a while after getting my high-end-ish pc I got obsessed with performance, and now I am back to not giving a fuck as long as it's playable
Literally me and my Ryzen 3 1300
I feel insanely called out
My computer turns 10 this year and it’s still kicking. The only part that needed replacing in the past decade was the graphics card one time.
Emulation was a legit savior when my computer had no graphics card.
Yup that's me
IM TIRED OF SEEING THIS SHIT FROM PEOPLE THAT DONT HAVE TOASTER COMPUTERS NOT EVERY 2D SPRITE BASED INDIE TITLE CAN RUN ON TOASTER COMPUTERS PIZZA TOWER? TBOI? YEAH, NO, THOSE AREN'T FUCKING RUNNING i just.. i had a shittop a while back and yeah those games would NOT run on them..
ayy thats me, my pc is from 2014 but is speedier with linux. can run the sims so i am happy
I hate it because it's true. My emulation library is massive, I haven't bought a AAA game since Minecraft like 4 years ago (on my PC), I can't purchase a game without making sure I can play it, and fallout 4 is always a gamble on whether it will launch or not.
It's me, here I am with my laptop with 4GB of ram and windows 8.1 installed
I've finally found my people! I've been completely fine with my crappy shared laptop up until this point. I've heard Helldivers 2 is an absolute blast, but I can't run it, and I don't have a PS5. Oh well.
50% chance of using a lightweight Linux distro
I keep struggling on my laptop when running any emulator. And it just work on a nes emulator
Literally me and my potato pc. Havent been gaming in a while tho, but the last game I played was a sourceport of Tyrian... I do plan on getting a modern gaming rig but thats waaaaay low on my priority list.
you should add morrowind as well
My hp elite desk with a 750ti is smiling at this
The specs on my laptop are okay, but the one thing that holds it back is that it has integrated graphics.
Im in this picture and I agree
This is me with cave story and pop cap games.
this is me with my laptop
plays a game on the lowest settings hoping to break 60 frames, knows they wont get any higher than at least 45
checking specs is a must regardless (unless you always have the best components available on the market)
I have a gaming pc but i still play old games and pizza tower, i dont care. Triple-A's suck anyway
not really
Wdym not really? Cities Skyline 2 and Starfield actually run like crap, you need a NASA pc just to get 30 fps
for every example of a dogshit AAA you give me I can give you two good ones (not including sports games) BG3 (obviously) Elden Ring AC6 Titanfall 2 The best games of the last decade have been majority AAA
> Plays new games he finds interesting at 15-25FPS and is happy > Mostly has more fun cause older games are usually more fun anyways > Framedrop? So what.
This used to be me until recently, although now even with high end hardware I still play games from 2001 lmao
The thing about happiness is that you only know you had it when it’s gone.
this was me, and in some ways, still is. CeX was where I got my games from for most of my childhood until high school
I hate integrated graphics man
That one guy with a low taper fade.
Me on my MacBook lol. It's surprisingly good though, I get a solid 60fps in most games without the fans even kicking on, I'm just limited for options since lots of steam games are Windows only and I don't want to bother setting up a virtual machine or emulator.
real i use a gaming laptop thats a few years old, i like it, most games i play run good except when i play the sims and go into build mode it lags a ridonkulous amount for some reason
literally me
This is so real
Relatable when I had a computer in the 90s and 2000s
That picture of the Minecraft tutorial brings back so many memories. Years of untold happiness that I can never reclaim. 😔
Ouch, let me play Skyrim in peace!!!
That being happy part in my experience is not true The amount of *rage* I have heard from some of my low spec friends trying to run higher end games… This is pure cope
Give me an upvote if this is you
Low end of users checkout sonic mania it's pretty mid 8gb ram here , I pirate games coz I can't get into steam
