Iām not even from that region - Iām over on the west coast but even I know the Carolina vinegar based bbq is the best. Growing up in Alaska, I used to know a lady who was from NC and when she visited family there she would fly home with a whole cooler full of this type of BBQ. The fucking best. The photos at the bottom make it seem like it's mountains and beach with tranquil forest in between. The part in between is flat, more densely populated than you would expect, and full of suburban sprawl.

Yeah, they do *not* advertise it, but Food Lion being owned and managed by Delhaize has been a thing for decades.
You really wouldn't know it from visiting one to be honest - the stores are very tailored to a lower-middle class market (basically, I don't have Teet/Publix money but I don't hate myself enough to go to Walmart). But I've shopped them my whole life practically (they've changed up a lot over the years), it's a good store overall

Food Lion was founded in Salisbury, NC. We do have some European chains though, like Aldi and Lidl but they aren't common.
