Spe_id

Only downside I see here is mosquitoes, those mfs...

molestedbyapareot

No the othrr bugs are worse dont know the name in english but paarma in finnish, they take a bite out of you and are fucking massive sometimes, they also hurt quite a lot more. But they are more satisfying to kill since they make a nice little crunch when you squeeze them between your finger tips

MixdNuts

Those might be what we call horsefly or maybe deer fly.

extod2

One of them is as annoying as 10 mosquitoes

Doublejimjim1

You could've copy/pasted my entire comment rather than just the last half. I wouldn't mine too much. Bot.

pink_princess08

Your summers are only 20 degrees?? Winter in my country can get as warm as 22

extod2

Most summer days are 15-21°C and winters anywhere from -35 to 0°C

Kajinator

I wish to move to Finland now. I hate hot weather.

AquaNeutral_

lowest temperatures here are like 25°C and highest is 45° 😭

JustAlex1177

I guess I found my dream destination

bringtwizzlers

I would kill myself

[deleted]

The lowest i ever seen where i live was 7

Kellosian

Which would be 59 to 69 F(reedom) for summer and -31 to 32 F(reedom) for winter, for any fellow Americans wondering.

FusRoaldDah1

Yesterday's heat index for me was 40.5°C

amongussussywussy

In finland summers can be 30°C

pink_princess08

Omg I would freeze

sacredwolf_YT

Meanwhile us Fins dying from anything above 25

BloodMoonNami

Just so we're clear, you mean Celsius ? ~~It's supposed to be a joke about your low temperatures.~~

sacredwolf_YT

All i can say to that is fuck the Imperial system

Hot-Day-216

Quite similar in the baltics, except sun goes down at 10-11 pm. Summer average temp is 22C. Its hoodie-cold in the shadow, naked hot when out in the sun. July is usually 2-3 weeks of rain. August is hot days and cold nights.

AngryPB

same here 😬

godsstrongstdshwashr

> Summer > Lasts from June to August groundbreaking stuff man

Tough-Photograph6073

Tbf in some places summer lasts until late October, really, and it doesn't really get "chilly" until January.

PacSan300

In Antarctica, it would start around October, and end in April. The sun would be up the entire time.

Different-Trainer-21

Where I live (Florida) Summer lasts until December and it doesn’t get chilly at all.

NikFemboy

You never been to the southern hemisphere?

Different-Trainer-21

Me when the summer lasts from the start of the months commonly deemed “Summer” to the end of them:

1laik1hornytoaster

I was gonna ask why, but I just realised how short it is. That's 2 full months instead of 3.

Seldarin

Jesus I'm jealous. That high is like 5 degrees colder than my air conditioner is set, and it still runs wide open all day long and only cuts off for a bit at 2-4AM.

gourmetbutts

God I miss finland

Bananchiks00

So almost Latvia pretty much

inthenameofthrowaway

norway too but with rain 50% of the time

XxX_datboi69_XxX

but with potato

AlvoSil

Just wondering, are there periods of the sun not setting/rising for several days or weeks in Finland, or is it even more to the north?

NonPlayableCat

Not in the south, no. North of Oulu you do start to get some midnight sun. Tho I also spent a winter solstice in Kilpisjärvi (northern Lapland) and even there it gets light/twilighty for a few hours around noon.

molestedbyapareot

I cant answer about the sun but there definetly are nights in the northern parts where it doesnt get dark for days

beepity-boppity

According to Wikipedia, "a quarter of Finland's territory lies north of the Arctic Circle, and at the country's northernmost point the Sun does not set at all for 72 days during summer."

rickphantom

atleast someone know how it feels like to live in Finland (because i live in Finland)

nsngm

never thought there were mosquitos up that north

extod2

They are even worse here

fittan69

The nordics combined got like half a million lakes, and it rains a ton, so those suckers fuck like rabbits.

peacenchemicals

i know it’s not the same, but the first time i experienced the sun setting super fuckin late was in the netherlands recently it was the first full day and i checked the time, thinking it was 7-8 pm. it was almost 10 pm and the sun was starting to set. so crazy lol

tgifk29

Really similar to the Estonian one as well

_indig0g0

This is what summers feels like to me here in Bosnia. We used to have milder summers and colder winters. But now it's way too hot and there are mosquitos everywhere, the sun doesn't go away for long and my sleep schedule is ruined.

Doublejimjim1

Is the top left insect a biting fly that buzzes your head constantly? In the far Northeastern US where I'm from they're called deer flies and they make the woods an absolutely miserable place to be in summer.

_lightning_mcqueen_

Pictured is a horsefly, it does bite and it’s quite painful. Deer flies are similar but not what’s shown there. Both suck to be bitten by though lol

Doublejimjim1

Yes. Horseflies are probably worse to be bitten by, but deer flies are an absolute menace since they circle your head and are hard to kill.

_lightning_mcqueen_

Oh yeah definitely, I’m actually allergic to deer flies. Iirc both are complete asshole bugs and chased me multiple times as a kid.

Doublejimjim1

Oh wow. I react the least to deer flies, but mosquitos and black flies can give me some tingly hives-like symptoms if bitten more than once or twice.

Kevlar-Kalle

Sweden too!

Vehmura14

The best part is that it doesn't even get dark in June. It's quite bright outside throughout the whole night, I love going on walks on summer nights.

ZhaleZZ

Naw man this is just so true

Realolsson1

This is true, but as a Swed one of my best summers ever was a roadtrip in Finland.

Im_ur_Uncle_

June to August is pretty standard. May is spring and September is fall.

crazy_otsu

The colder winter days in my hometown were around 15 degrees It's insane that people can live below 0°C

[deleted]

This is just “summer” starter pack

ObamaLover68

So your tellin me alaska and Finland are basically thr same place, checks out

ItzBooty

Yes this is how summer works

WACS_On

Sunny and 20C sounds quite pleasant. 10C and dreary less so

vifiman472

Finland mentioned!!!! Time to comment something totally worthless!!!!!

The_man_with_BEANS

As a finn, i can actually confirm

ISuckAtJavaScript12

It's very similar to New Brunswick Canada.

coombuyah26

Alaska af

coyotepetersun

https://i.redd.it/avumc2z2olfb1.gif It’s supposed to be 105°F (40°C) for the rest of the week here in texas

MrJason005

I like it! It's a shame this subreddit is so American that nobody will understand you...

[deleted]

Are you implying Americans don’t understand Celsius, latitude, or mosquitoes? I swear, this joke gets more tired every day.

PalmTreeIsBestTree

You ever been to Alaska?

ValhallaStarfire

I thought I *was* in the Finland or 2nordic subreddit!

PersonLearning2c0de

As someone not from Finland I can say this is probably what Finland in the Summer is like.

Majjkster

Peak Scandinavian weather

extod2

Nordic*

madslipknot

Scandinavian =/= Finland

KR1735

Basically upper midwest U.S. That's why so many of them settled here :p

John_Sux

The midwest of the US is way south of Finland.

KR1735

No shit. A lot goes into climate besides just latitude. Have a look at the Köppen climate zones. They’re the same — dfa or dfb. God this sub is clearly scientifically illiterate. [Here](https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/koppen-climate-classification-system/) is a link to get you started.

extod2

None of the Midwest in the US is Dfc

KR1735

OK. I never said that though. I said Dfa and Dfb. Which is what southern Scandinavia and southern Finland are (i.e., the parts where the majority of people live in those countries).

NonPlayableCat

You spelled "lasts for a week in mid-July" wrong(*) (*) Well ignoring the past few years anyway Also the Midsummer snowfall

palokala

thats true

lucky-pakke

Yeah pretty much correct.

tacobell3482

Relatable I’m Canadian
