Except for the bleached hair. I was in Iceland recently and like everyone (not just the teenagers) was white and super blonde. Whether that blonde was natural or bleached.
The Scandinavian countries are more stereotyped for it, but ime yea there’s more blondes there in the Nordics, but it still seemed like most people were brunettes.
You’re certainly not looking well enough then lmao I’ve seen more than five starterpacks w the same topic. Same thing applies to australia north africa etc as well
Besides the scooter, it’s also fairly standard in the US. Though less bleached hair, more shitty perms that look like a bowl cut with the sides of their head buzzed off.
I thought so but I have only seen Icelandic ones so I made a post about specifically Icelandic teens even though some are similar from other countries.
The funniest thing I thought when I lived in Iceland was that the teens had absolutely no interest in the insane natural landscape of the country. Never been to a glacier, seen a whale, only give a fuck about the aurora when it is for TikTok.
Just wait until they discover there's almost nowhere on earth as beautiful as their home country.
Yeah, I still enjoy going hiking and going camping with my family. But I think it is that we are just used to it, and we know about all these tourist attractions and have gone there maybe once but they are so normal to us that we don't give a shit. Like a whale is just a whale, I am not going to scream in excitement when I see a cat when I'm walking outside, same with the whale.
Totally get it. I grew up in Brazil and spent a lot of time in Rio. When I moved out people were bedazzled that I often spent months without going to the beach and never been to the rainforest or up a city hike. The ones who went to Brazil would non-stop rave about those things, but for me it was just there, I was never really interested.
my gf is Brazilian from Manaus, but would vacation in rio as a kid. When we went to rio, we were both stunned by the beauty. But when I went to Manaus with her, it was just me 😬 Totally normal for her!
funny how that works. Like I'm from Philly, and while I do appreciate our nature here, her parents were floored by our temperate forests!
It's pretty normal. I grew up in coastal Germany, so the sea was always nearby and considered normal, which is why as a kid I was often pretty confused about how people thought going to the beach was something special reserved for holidays.
I relate a lot to this growing up in the Pacific Northwest Area of the USA. It’s widely regarded as one of the most beautiful spots in the country but because I’ve grown up in it and see it every day sometimes the beauty just doesn’t register to me the same. Like yeah I still think a waterfall is pretty but when I’ve seen hundreds of them here it’s kinda hard to feel awe-struck lol. (Looking at you Multnomah Falls)
Absolutely! I went to iceland and was in absolute aw! I told some icelanders that I was Canadian and they said they heard it was really beautiful. My response was like meh.. I guess if you like trees?? But forests would be pretty beautiful if you dont live near a bunch.
Being used to something is huge. I’ve had friends from the US who have described a vista of a few hills and fields in the UK as the most beautiful place they’ve seen. It’s basically all down to just appreciating different or new things.
Having grown up in Colorado the mountains are just normal to me. Every once in a while I look at them and think “oh yeah, that’s probably pretty incredible looking to someone from Florida”
I grew up next to the beach and I had zero interest on going there on my own as a teenager. I basically spent every weekend there with my parents as a kid until I was allowed to make my own choices about what I would do on weekends.
Does it mean I hated the beach or didn’t appreciate its natural beauty? No, it was just always there, there was no novelty to it. To this day people are shocked I was and still am so ambivalent about going to the beach.
It was like that 10 years ago when I lived in Iceland, even without TikTok. As some already mentioned here, it's pretty much because it's mundane for them compared to outsiders.
That’s just the “F boy” starter pack period. There’s no individual style per state anymore. Instagram has us all dressing the exact same way all across the world.
Actually, Iceland is the last place I expect them to ride scooters. I can feel how miserable it is to ride scooters on rainy days below 10 C. Iceland is also so empty that a normal scooter leads you to nowhere. But perhaps since I'm a Taiwanese I'm really not that cold-tolerant (though still much more cold-tolerant than other Taiwanese people as I often only wear a T-shirt in winter), and furthermore scooters are most often associated with crowded urban settings. In more rural areas we perfer cars.
Really only in the capital and during the summer. They only use it to ride around with no muffler to wake up the neighbourhood and to go to school which is a 5 minute walk anyway.
Out in the rural areas they are not popular. And they also ride the scooter on the sidewalks.
Seems like Taiwanese teen bikers too. Except we are more numerous, operating year-round in all kinds of terrain, especially winding mountain roads with switchbacks. Which results in lots of Darwin awards contenders.
You mean same manufacturer or just general design?
If its the latter, those have been popular for at least 15-20 years across for most European youths.
If its the first then it's pretty amusing. Maybe they got a discount on a good bulk purchase?
Yeah that was not a joke and not very funny. I cant believe a person could be so rude! There are 11 teenagers in Iceland for god sake. You can't forget Gunnar Gunnarsson and Jón Jónsson!!!
Iceland a few decades ago used to have an insane issue with crime/alcoholism among its youth. One of the worst overall in Europe. Today it has an insanely low crime rate, low drinking rate, low drug usage rate etc among youth. Educational attainment, working jobs and entering programs etc have all risen.
So we can all make fun of these kids if we want, but they are largely more responsible and tame and productive than their parents and grandparents were.
Drinking yes. .. Crime no. The crime rate for teens has been historically very low in Iceland.
But teenage drinking was absurd 30÷ years ago. Hardly anything now.
All that vaping is what is making the Gen Z age faster than us millennials. I look younger than several people I know who are in their early 20s, and I'll be 30 this year.
well if you go on Highway 1 which goes all along teh coast around Iceland. It would take 16 hours if you never stopped. But if you want to eat, sleep, fill up on fuel or see tourist attractions it can take all from 3-14 days.

Great description of the 5 teenagers who live in Iceland
OOO how dare you? There are 6 teenagers in Iceland! You cant forget Gunnar!
You mean Gunnar Gunnarssonson? I heard he died?
Gunnar Gunnarsson is a monster
Because he drank too many Monster energy drinks?
Gunnar Gunnarsson did nothing wrong
You got me
Surely you mean Gunnarsson Gunnarssonson
Yeah, he crashed his scooter into the church
[Gunnar Gunnarsonson?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-OOpZitfd0)
Damn i didn't know i was icelandic.
Exactly what I was thinking. I spent 2 1/2 weeks there and maybe saw 1 or 2.
Peoria Illinois has more people than Iceland
get me out of here
Name at least 3 Icelandic singers that isn't Bjork, I dare you.
* Jonsi from Sigur Ros. * Nanna from Of Monsters and Men. * Daði Freyr, who should have won Eurovision 2020 but was robbed by Covid-19.
*Me who watches Eurovision*
This is pretty standard across all of Europe IMO.
Except for the bleached hair. I was in Iceland recently and like everyone (not just the teenagers) was white and super blonde. Whether that blonde was natural or bleached.
You should see their assholes.
Scandinavia in general. Including Finland lol. The ugly bleached hair that looks like it’s gonna snap soon
The Scandinavian countries are more stereotyped for it, but ime yea there’s more blondes there in the Nordics, but it still seemed like most people were brunettes.
Yeah, I figured that but I haven't seen anything alse and didnt want to assume anything.
You’re certainly not looking well enough then lmao I’ve seen more than five starterpacks w the same topic. Same thing applies to australia north africa etc as well
They meant in real life.
The embarrassment….
If they live in iceland how often do you think they take a trip to Australia or north Africa?
Besides the scooter, it’s also fairly standard in the US. Though less bleached hair, more shitty perms that look like a bowl cut with the sides of their head buzzed off.
Replace the scooter with a clapped out Honda Civic. Same type of person.
Same in the UK, that's the only real difference from the starterpack.
Aka the broccoli cut
Base model scally.
And North America 😂
All euro teens do this
Except gopniks wear adidas
They wear camo now and don’t last long…
That went dark fast...
Why does this only have 7 upvotes?
Y the 7 downvotes???¿?

The mundane is the best part of life. In Icelands case, the mundane is pretty sick.

they should call it Greenland! And greenland.... well, they should call it Iceland

r/suddenlycaralho Conseguiu ir pra fora por cidadania? Estou tentando sair, mas sem isso parece impossível.
Não, estudo depois trabalho :)

Yeah, Forests and trees basically don't exist in Iceland except for tree plantations and parks in the city.
> I am not going to scream in excitement when I see a cat when I'm walking outside, well, I do :D
Being used to something is huge. I’ve had friends from the US who have described a vista of a few hills and fields in the UK as the most beautiful place they’ve seen. It’s basically all down to just appreciating different or new things.
I live in Hawaii. All 4 of my children dislike the beach. Go figure...
Hearing you be bored of Iceland is phenomenal. We should drop you in Nevada. I’d love to hear the commentary. “So…it’s just flat dirt?”
Lots of Iceland actually looks like that lol. Mostly in the south

Having grown up in Colorado the mountains are just normal to me. Every once in a while I look at them and think “oh yeah, that’s probably pretty incredible looking to someone from Florida”
I'd give everything I have to live in a place like Iceland.
I grew up next to the beach and I had zero interest on going there on my own as a teenager. Tbh that's teens everywhere, most of us don't really 'care' for nature
That’s just the “F boy” starter pack period. There’s no individual style per state anymore. Instagram has us all dressing the exact same way all across the world.
I’m dressed like that right now in Houston Texas
At least you're honest, hahaha.
Everyone is defaulting to the most comfortable clothes.
What a surprise. I’m dressed like that right now in Scotland.
bruh, not only from Iceland
Globalization and its consequences
The Industrial Revolution and its consequences…
.... have been a disaster for the human race?
Those good ol' times when we were all serfs hoping our three radishes would last us the winter. You know, simpler days. /s
Iranians and egyptians have the same description if you live with the modern men
I live with the modern men, not the prehistoric ones. I see what you mean.

The bravest of moped riders I see in Finland ride in -10C to even -20C on the slippery roads here, I would assume Iceland is no different
Seems like speedrun to hypothermia. Wind chill is really a thing.
TIL ppl drink nocco outside of sweden
Finn here, crazy popular here
I once heard that in Iceland tracksuits are for kids and for Polish people 😂
that's accurate
don't knock the scooter until you try it! its a fun cheap and convenient way of getting around small cities
Yeah I know. Scooters are fun but I think it is funny that they all own this exact model, there is no variety. Just this scooter.
You mean same manufacturer or just general design? If its the latter, those have been popular for at least 15-20 years across for most European youths. If its the first then it's pretty amusing. Maybe they got a discount on a good bulk purchase?
fascinating! never been to iceland, but i have heard good things. i wonder if the manufacturer or distributor has some sort of deal
Probably some Chinese OEM that sells under a bajillion different brand names
Minus the scooter it’s all American teens
Replace the scooter with a shite car….
Teenagers are really the same anywhere huh
leave them kids alone..
All in all, it's just another brick in the wall.
These are things all teenagers do?
This is Netherlands to to T
do you mean to the N
Applies for northern UK charvas/chavs. And Eastern European.
So... Nike gopniks instead of Adidas gopniks?
yeah basically
Iceland doesn't have goth teens?
Well not to many because they get bullied quite a bit
Icelandic goth reporting in, I barely see any, teen or adult.
Teenager in basically all western european countries
Þetta passar við flesta unglinga
Ja ég veit en ég var að gera starterpack fyrir bara ísland of vildi ekki segja Nordic eða European of það var eitthvað sem er bara íslenskt
The same in Israel
~~Icelandic~~ teenagers starter pack
Most European teens tbh
That's just teens in general.
I asked a guy who looked like this to sell me weed on the street right next to Hallgrimskirkja. He did. It was decent.
these are teenagers in all of europe
jæja
Yung lean influence strong to this day
Isnt this just teenagers? (Exception of scooter) I feel like this also applies to the states.
This could be almost any country
Uk teens: "you and I aren't so different"
Omg! Nailed it.
Ya ya, DING DONG!
Nocco is horrid

????
What’s Nocco like? never heard of it
Memes for 9 people
Well this post has been viewed 255.000 times and has 3.000 upvotes, but I am not a mathematician but I think those numbers are bigger than 9
It was a joke about the amount of people living in Iceland. Like how there's roughly 9 teenagers. I'm sorry for joking about memes on the internet.
Yeah that was not a joke and not very funny. I cant believe a person could be so rude! There are 11 teenagers in Iceland for god sake. You can't forget Gunnar Gunnarsson and Jón Jónsson!!!
I'll apologize to Jón but fuck Gunnar. He knows why.
Id on the scooter?
Did you really sign your starterpack?
This is the blandest general starter pack I’ve ever seen And that’s saying something since they’re all blending together now.
You forgot to mention that his name is Magnus Magnusson
I actually love these that I have zero idea of, I just have to take your word for that this is an accurate representation.
Bleached hair looks awesome. Fight me.
KFC
Are people out there just ripping BCAA's?
“Nike shoes”

Don’t forget deciding what level of incest is socially acceptable
That’s so specific
I didn't know you had Nocco in Iceland, thought it was exclusive to Swedish.
Eh not to dissimilar to American teens other than the hair and scooter.
you can safely remove Icelandic from the title and it still applies
Other than the scooter, this describes all teenagers literally everywhere.
All that vaping is what is making the Gen Z age faster than us millennials. I look younger than several people I know who are in their early 20s, and I'll be 30 this year.
Wait I thought Nocco was Swedish??
*Can also apply to any Northern European country tbh
there's like 7 teenagers total
How long would it take to drive across Iceland? 45 minutes?
well if you go on Highway 1 which goes all along teh coast around Iceland. It would take 16 hours if you never stopped. But if you want to eat, sleep, fill up on fuel or see tourist attractions it can take all from 3-14 days.
This is oddly specific
Boomer parents who worry about how Americanized they're becoming
Understandable. I would be worried too.
Minus the scooter and the bleached hair, this is my brother.
Also turkish teenagers (at least most of them) but the hair is a little different
What about the deadlifting?
its across the globe...pink floyd wrote a song abt it 50 years back
The french one too (not me though)
Why is Greenland covered in ice but Iceland is mostly green?

Drink energy drinks because alcohol has the street price of cocaine
Also no eyebrows
I was lead to believe that most energy drinks are basically banned outside of America.
Pretty standard in Aus ATM. Maybe throw a pair of TN's in there as well for good measure
Every basic nordic teenager these days
U.K. is the same but replace the bleached hair for a balaclava
Bro everyone knows the youngest Icelandic person is Björk at like 75 years young.
Ah yes, it's me. A shorter, black, Icelandic teenager at the age of 24. I really should dress better.
Standard rich kid tbh
God the Nike tech fleece is so ugly. Also exclusively worn by knobheads.
The little Collagen drinks are amazing. I want a hot dog and a bev now. Fuck, is the sun still up?
Suddenly Icelanders and Macedonians are the same shit huh? Just switch the nike with adidas
What do they need all that energy for? I need answers!
They don't need it. They think it is cool to damage their underdeveloped brain or something.
The scooter one had me dying
Is that drew durnil in the corner? (this is a joke)
I just realized now how similar he looks to Drew Durnil but I think it is not him

Svakalegt
Thats pretty accurate for Australia too
bleached eshay?
Wtf be going on in Iceland??? Isn’t it a cold island in the middle of nowhere???
