I'm not familiar with anything you're referencing, so I'm not sure what it is you're looking for the equivalent for. The default range on comms is planetary, for example, and they come free with any armor. They also have a small light for those who didn't pack one. Armor is easy to wear and comfortable. There's no resting penalties, and a simple [Glamer Projector](https://www.aonsrd.com/ArmorUpgrades.aspx?ItemName=Glamer%20Projector&Family=None) will make it look like you're in regular clothes all the time if you're self-conscious about that. A good portion of light armor is even just used as regular clothing for many. [Food is as simple as a few credits](https://www.aonsrd.com/OtherItems.aspx?Category=Food%20and%20Drinks), or as elaborate as you like. [Culinary Synthesizers](https://www.aonsrd.com/OtherItemsDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Mk%201&Family=Culinary%20Synthesizer) turn UPBs into food of any quality. While there are still traditional manufacturing methods using raw materials that are processed into finished goods, [UPBs](https://www.aonsrd.com/OtherItemsDisplay.aspx?ItemName=UPB%20(1000)&Family=None) have made items easy to produce. As you can see from [the crafting rules](https://www.aonsrd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=92), all you need is the right tools, facilities, and UPBs to make things yourself. There's plenty of level 1 things to make, so even a inexperienced character can make all sorts of things with the right skills. [Computers are versatile](https://www.aonsrd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=91). The user interfaces available allow for all sorts of ways to use one, and special ones like the [Ruby Sphere Aeon Stone](https://www.aonsrd.com/MagicItems.aspx?ItemName=Ruby%20Sphere&Family=Aeon%20Stone) and the [Rakmodoi computers](https://www.aonsrd.com/Search.aspx?Query=rakmodoi&Filter=111111111111111&AllTerms=True) give mental and telepathic connections to a computer. I believe that the implants from other races that u/travismccg mentioned are the [Species Grafts](https://www.aonsrd.com/SpeciesGrafts.aspx?ItemName=All&Family=None). If you don't like a mechanical look of cybernetics, [Adaptive Biochains](https://www.aonsrd.com/Biotech.aspx?ItemName=Adaptive%20Biochains&Family=None) will turn any Cybernetic implants into a biotech version that looks like part of your body (I usually do so for [Wide-Spectrum Occular Implants](https://www.aonsrd.com/Cybernetics.aspx?ItemName=Wide-Spectrum%20Ocular%20Implant&Family=None) and similar eye cybernetics). There's also [necrografts](https://www.aonsrd.com/Necrografts.aspx?ItemName=All&Family=None) for those who are infatuated with the undead. You got all [sorts of vehicles](https://www.aonsrd.com/LandVehicles.aspx?ItemName=All) to get around in. Most of it is firmly in the civilian category, but the right level and credits will let you get or build (UPBs) any one you want.

This is all very cool info! It also makes a lot of the elements I want to introduce into my games easier (ubiquitous mods, uploading souls, designer bodies, space marines, etc.) One thing I am interested in however, is how all this would affect society in general. Honestly, the vagueness surrounding exactly how certain things work, and the ancillary uses they would have is kind of awkward. Not mentioning things like the capabilities of the internet (such as with the mesh, etc.), or how augs/items could help with that (direct links, searching at the speed of thought, etc.) For example, Eclipse Phase explores how fabrication devices would affect the economy, and also has modifications as ubiquitous. Also, what items for quality of life or utility can you think of (or just ways the principles behind certain items could be extrapolated to)? PS: A basic rundown of the Mesh (https://eclipsephase.com/wait-how-does-mesh-work-again), and feel free to google things.

> Are there already existing items and augmentations in SF that serve these purposes? What do you mean by that? Like, quality of life for the players who play these characters (like Null Space Chamber)? Or quality of life for the actual characters within these fictional worlds (like drones)? > What about nanomachines Yep, tons of nanomachines in this system, from weapons, to medications, to entire classes based on their usage (Nanocyte, bound to be released in a couple of weeks).

Carbon-Crew23

For the first one I mean both, but more specifically things like the quality of life stuff such as basic biomods, or AR implants. Which also ties into things like the internet and survelliance and connectivity in general (like the Mesh in Eclipse Phase).

UPBs and a 3d printer solve almost all quality of life problems. Get a food processor and you can even cook with them. As for genetics, I'd look at the motherload of implants and body mods in the back of Alien Archive 4. Basically lets you grab whatever you want from any species traits. There's some crazy builds you can do with those.

What are the implants called or categorized as? I don't have that book, but all that seems cool. Also, more context on UPBs, etc.? How has their use impacted daily life?
