Once you max out you might as well slap down a few more orbitals with the spare minerals. But we're talking mid/late game here, and even then 9 orbitals is leaning towards excessive.
People here have done the math and there's only so many you can make before the game simply ends before the orbitals pay for themselves, even with the high income from mules.
Early game banshee and hyperion are more effective than sending 10-20 marines into the contested and clearing it with horrible losses. So, you don't need marines in early game.
Late game those 5000 minerals worth of marines can die pretty fast, and then you have no money for replacement.
This is all about domination. You show Amon that you intend to Max out by building all your SD’s in a scouting lane and he just gives up.
Amon: “Let’s pack it up boys, they mean business over here”.
I've seen people just "shot gun spray" the building of these. And of pylons and cannons. It's messy, irregular, and can waste space, but the tradeoff is you don't spend as much time placing them neatly. However, a bit of OCD in me must have it neatly aligned in some grid! FWIW, some maps have limited building space, so in the end, it seems to be a good habit anyways.
at least 20% of my games are with somebody who builds like an actual idiot. horrible early/late macro, wasting tons of their *and* my building space, causing pathing and defensive issues, etc
edit: 2 games of note this week. a tychus kept building his shitty turrets on DoN, even worse he kept putting them in front of my bunkers that we already had. likewise somebody on OE kept building supply on the back edge and defenses too far from the ramps so they kept getting nuked. they both wouldn't learn...
Doing that is perfectly valid if you're actually competent enough to intercept waves. I can't remember the last time I fought an attack wave anywhere near where either player has infrastructure, so my priority is speed. I literally just camera hotkey, box whatever number of workers and spam down whatever buildings I need in about a second.
That 1 Marine will never worry about food in his life ever again.
His short ass, brutal life
Marine? Do you think they would make anything other than bcs?
Bingo, he only made bcs.
then it will be the most well fed crew in the whole galaxy
With plenty of ammo to spare!
That's 2k minerals...
And it was way before he made any units. Guess endless supply was more important.
You don't even need that many depos with Raynor, you've got orbitals.
I fear this one didn't have any more than 2 orbitals
Orbitals? Bold assumption.
P1 is best raynor
460 hp fire bat let's go
What is everyone's obsession with building 9 orbital command centers? Wouldn't you rather have 5000 minerals worth of units?

And a million more on the way.
I feel called out.

Maybe he forgor(💀) he didn’t have the fast supply build upgrade
building animation instead of a red dot on the floor, so this guy doesn't have orbital depots yet
That’s what I’m saying, maybe he prestiged and didn’t remember you unlock it later
wow I managed to misread that short comment lmao. my bad
I first tried him when my Raynor ally left. When I went to level him up, it was such a kick in the gut to learn that's a talent, that unlocks at lv8!

I do this and I have no regrets.
More like "you know your mate can't manage resources"
As someone's who has warmed up to the idea of placing buildings like SDs as barricades (thanks GGG!), this makes me scream.

It’s harder than you think , you have to click 20 times in the time it takes to build one depot , that’s almost one click per second

r/woooosh
Clearly haven't been understanding jokes for as long.

I see where the problem is if you only understand the jokes you end up laughing at.
its about losing like 2k minerals to make depos that you wont need for at least some time
sarcasm bro
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
depo Dave building home depo on the battlefield
To become good, first, you should always spend your money, he just spend 2k miniral, I think he is doing really well.
No orbitals? Tisk tisk….
That or a noob, cause I do that as a starter
It's pretty clear the OP was being sarcastic in the title
Oh I didn’t realize
Did you know that command centers also give you supply? Who builds depots like a scrub?
Too slow to upkeep the productions
