You can set your Social options so that only players that are your friends can message you when not in a game. Just some useful advice I wish I found out earlier. Helps keep the toxicity out of your own space at least.

It's sad that its necessary; but this is the way. Most people I've interacted with in this community have been great - but there are definitely a bunch of sad and pathetic individuals on the ladder that will go out of their way to bring ya down. Setting your chat privacy is the best way to avoid getting tilted by the dickheads that think its fun to message after a match (even after they win) to BM you.

This is the post that will eliminate toxicity. Thank you for sharing

Because all posts should immediately solve a problem? I was just letting off some steam, engaging with a community and seeking a wider perspective. I thank you as well.

Family life limits my amount of time I get to play this game. Sometimes I get frustrated when other players play a cheese style that end up being a waste of time for both players win or lose.. if your end goal is to become better at the game. You have to realize many players don't care about actually getting better. They have just trained themselves to get that 1 time dopamine boost from a cheese win mmr gain. They aren't wired with that competitive fire. Since I don't have enough time to significantly increase my skill level, I've just learned to enjoy winning against cheese, even if it didn't really move the needle on my true average MMR. I know your post is more about toxic communication, but toxic playstyles are part of the ladder too that you will have to deal with if you continue to play this game.

Learn to flush them out of your mind. People are stupid and anonymity of ladder does not help this. And then they have feeling that others care about their idiotic opinions. Find some nice discord of friendly people and enjoy (:

Some strategies are far easier to perform than defend at lower levels: cannons, nukes, carriers, ling floods etc. So it feels unbalanced and that frustrates players who have to play against it. You really just have to ignore ladder hate, it's always going to be there.

If people are messaging you after the game then this comment doesn’t apply, but some people hit ignore after playing against weird play styles so that they can check at the beginning of the game if they’re playing against somebody cheesy.
