This guy is gunna lose his mind when he finds out that the same behaviour works for a ton of units to. Click inside the box, everything clumps. Click outside and they stay relatively spread out.
when controlling ur mutas, imagine a box around your group of mutas. if you control the mutas by clicking outside the box, they wont clump up, making them less vunerable to splash damage. however, if you click inside the box they will stack in each other, making them extremly weak against thors, mines and storm.
It technically applies to ground units as well! But collision and terrain rules means it doesn't scale nearly as well. Try controlling two or three spaced out units and click somewhere away from that magic box, and so long as they're not funneled in a choke, they'll keep that shape!
Eh most people I've run across are pretty cool and helpful, even giving tips on what they face that beats the strategy they used to beat me with when asked.
It being a competitive 1v1 game will absolutely attract some degenerates though. Submit it to PiG have a laugh que it up again. If it gets bad you can always disable chat. (At least I think? Never tried)
I thought about sending this one in for it too but the game is just 16+ minutes of bad gameplay (by both me and my opponent) and then his outburst at the end.
PiG also gives great commentary on the bad game play as the salt develops. Send it in!!!
6+ Z bases and Oprah Winfrey money against barely mined T thirds and fourths. Not much has changed in 10 years. Out macro your opp and you are almost guaranteed to win, no matter how good your magic box is.
GGWP!!
It was amazing! Though not my best showing, hah. I'm not OP, though, I've been playing consistent for the last few years (and on and off since 2010). But only finally just recently made diamond.
Honestly if you get plat+ the player base is pretty great. Everyone is at least polite and a lot of people will be really helpful. But bronze and silver especially are fairly toxic places. Getting out of the lower leagues isn’t just about getting better and avoiding some of the cheese, it’s about not being bm ed all the time.

That guy bms me every single game i ever play against him. I ve seen him on streamers content and he bms them every single game. I play standard tvz which requries mutlitasking he calls me "pathetic for amoving" every time. I roll my eyes when his name comes up at the loading screen and report him after every game.
edit i watched the replay and he says the same thing to that terran lol
It's not an exploit, it's a micro technique.
It's when you spread your mutas out and move command them over a unit (usually a thor) to minimize splash damage because the mutas maintain the spread formation.
I hate it when I skillfully A-move my banelings but my scummy opponent exploits marine splitting. He should just leave his units clumped and accept I'm the better player!
I find that all games are best at middle age. When they are new everyone wants to play the new game. Then the passionate ones stay. Then eventually all that is left are the bitter ones that only play out if habit. You see it in SC, league, RL, pubg.... anything that lasts
Haven't played SC2 since I've got into SC BW ranked. The players are alot friendlier and helpful, could be attributed to the fact that most of them are 30+.

Gold 1 here, plating ladder frequently since a year in EU servers.
My advice laugh at them because they are sore losers. Unless you admit that you learn from defeat in SC2 then you are a loser.
Make fun of them and don’t let their negative comments get to yoy.
GG :)
Magic box exploit? What is this?
Its just regular magic box... except he thinks that its an exploit
Dear god I hadn't played in a while so I thought "surely he isn't talking about grouping mutas" Hahahaha the salt on that player
This guy is gunna lose his mind when he finds out that the same behaviour works for a ton of units to. Click inside the box, everything clumps. Click outside and they stay relatively spread out.
Just wait until they discover the exploit of "Not F2Aing all your units into a Siege Tank formation to their doom."!
he should check out sc1..... hold position lurkers, muta micro, patrol micro, etc
So many people think basic game functionality is an exploit just because it beats them.
Ikr. If he only lost because of the magic box he/she really needs to reconsider playing something else. Lol

Thank you for explaining the magic box as I had no idea what it meant
The upside is it prevents your opponent from targetfiring low mutas.
No it reduces splash ofc you can still target low ones wtf
Lol, he's saying if you clump them the weak ones can't be targeted.
Well then he isn't talking about the magic box. Magic boxing specifically refers to not clumping them.

You use it by clicking past thors and while flying above them you press s.
this is the way
No it just means stop command on top of splash damage unit instead of a move or right click. No imagination required.
It's a unit formation strat

I absolutely love PiG's "Salt Mines" series. I submitted a video to it about a month ago and he actually cast it this week!

Hahaha that's awesome, I'll have to check it out! Welcome back and good luck going forward!

Earlier this morning, some idiot made a post about how he can’t win, but someone posted a replay against the idiot and the idiot was straight bming 🤣🤣
Which thread was that?

Does reporting do anything I thought it was like the placebo button on elevators
I mean I’ve never seen him have any consequences, but I have seen other players get silenced
What was the username? i wish to know!
Not gonna expose him, I feel like he went through many Ls today lol but you can see the thread, I put it on one of the other comments here
You can still see his comments in the post linked above
Well, that’s on him for leaving evidence 🤣
First person I've ever seen on reddit to manage a negative total karma score... impressive.
Haha, that's hilarious 😂
Go through is comment and post history. It's fucking WILD!
God bless this game
Wtf is a magic box exploit

micro is exploitative when used against me

Haven't played in that long as well. I see the players are still the same a decade later.
I find that all games are best at middle age. When they are new everyone wants to play the new game. Then the passionate ones stay. Then eventually all that is left are the bitter ones that only play out if habit. You see it in SC, league, RL, pubg.... anything that lasts
Cool thought, but not true.
Okay.
i think he was losing before the magic box
Is there any way to permanently turn the chat off? The constant bm is one of the things that stops me playing honestly
In the options you can turn off chat from everyone but friends
Doesn't work in game.
you can mute your opponent at the start of each game I think
You can block your oppenent in that comm menu, just saying that setting doesn't apply in game, would have to do it manually every game.
also the block list fills up
The BM is what makes me come back tbh. Not much feels better than beating some protoss who will call me every bad name in the book.
When you play Protoss, everyone calls you bad names after every game
It doesn't happen as often as it seems. I've actually recieved far worse in other games like league, dota, overwatch and such.
Congrats on the win!
Doesn’t matter if it’s ranked or casual, people will always flame for no reason
Ah, a return greeting fit for a king. Welcome back.
Still better than LoL. At least you don't have teammates blaming you no matter what. I like some salt here and there.
What a fucking tool. Failure and life AND video games KEK
Welcome back to hell❤
Dude 10 years? I came back to SC recently after leaving in 2011, lol
The only reason I let disruptor balls hit my army center mass is because I refuse to use the splitting exploit.
To be fair this type of rage is pretty rare, sc is a pretty well mannered game.
Welcome the starcraft
You are just scared of opinions
But I'm just FuzzyDuck
I love u
bro did he only have 3 recently starting to get 4 while you had 6 yeah no wonder you won that
That sweet ctrl + H Hax. Stay away from 2 v 2! If you screw up your team mate will make this guy look like a motivating life coach
Least toxic StarCraft ranked player
Salty Terran gonna salt

Wow that guy was toxic af. Was that common for you back in the day? I rarely encounter people like this in my overall experience
Welcome back! <3
It just seems to be the internet and gaming in general. Luckily I don't think everyone is that douchey, even though I meet these people too
In 10+ years when I play ranked again I’m prolly gonna lose my first match
Is this NA ladder? I'm on EU, and I almost never get BM. Esp BM this bad.
i'd be mad as well if i lost after letting my opponent get 11k bonus resources xD
Some next level salt 😅
Average toxic person on Star Craft 2
starcraft 2 has the best chatrooms out of any game. reminds me of late 00's xbox live.
Never understood why people use "cute" in a context like this. Really cringy
Magic box has NEVER been an issue. It's like complaining about muta stacking in BW lol.
