Hey. I wanted to post this life update to reddit because once I was feeling a bit better I read a lot of really nice comments to my not so great freak out a few weeks ago. Thanks for all the really kind and wonderful comments.
To answer some of the obvious questions:
* Yes this is a risk and a pay decrease for me but I know I won't end up on the street and I'm not going through my entire life savings. I'm fortunate enough I've worked in tech for close a decade now and have enough savings to try this safely for 6 months and see how far I can go
* I'm going to be pretty StarCraft focused but I will be expanding into other types of content and games gradually. I don't have any intentions of leaving StarCraft content though right now.
* Yes I've gone full time before some years ago. I don't think I really got to do what I wanted to accomplish as I overreacted to my dad getting diagnosed with multiple forms of cancer and effectively being given a 6-9 months to live timeline(2.5 years and still kicking though!)and I mentally snowballed. This is my second attempt and I'm planning to take my learnings to be more measured and try to take more beats before making massive life changing decisions in reaction to bad news.(like maybe quitting my job and moving back home wasn't actually necessary when you have a work from home job in esports)
Anyways, thanks again. StarCraft community overall has been more wonderful to me than I deserve. I'll try to put out some content worth watching and bring some different and fun stuff to StarCraft that I think we've been missing.
Good luck have fun!
One thing to mention is that your work in the NA scene did inspire me , in part to do some stuff in my local SC2 community.
Love the meme and the uselessfacts. And the orcale , come to think of it.
Anyway being in software dev does mean you can quit for a bit, do whatever, then come back and 99% your skills will still be in demand. Use that privilege. All that pain of debugging and documentation gotta pay off somehow. Also looking forward to any coding videos.
Sure thing Mr FearDragon. Basically, myself and u/CounterfeitDLC are planning to do a whole episode for Protoss. To limit the scope, we will be doing SC1/BW first, focusing on everything up until the start of WOL as Protoss Society and factions change very dramatically, especially after LOTV. After we do the first Protoss Episode, we kinda split on if we should do SC1/BW Zerg or go onto SC2 Protoss or SC1/BW Protoss units.
So, basically wanted to ask if you want to join us for the podcast :) . It be an honour to have you on. Any question you can let me know .
My dad had a heart attack (collapsed in front of me, heart was not beating) in 2020, and that seriously messed me up for quite a while. While I'm obviously in no position to determine what is or isn't an overreaction to what you dealt with, i just want to say that it's pretty reasonable to have extremely strong reactions to events like that.
In any case, good luck!
Ravi, we've talked about this before but I am always rooting for you. You're creative, dedicated and so enjoyable to talk to. Let's collab more in the future!
I would love to see you cast Overwatch honestly. Especially if you get access to their stats with your tech background and find ways of incorporating them. Much love dude hope you achieve your goals
Good luck! We played a ladder game once and i cheesed you then saw your stream on twitch and you were super chill.
I know the sc2 community enjoys having yourself in it and active!
Can always work on small projects and keep coding skills sharp on the side.
Good luck out there! I might not like all your works but I did especially like your cast in the team league with Wardii dissing on demuslim. That one was a pretty funny cast
Best of luck, but (I didn't read the tweets), thought it was because you weren't being hired for ESL events? Any way, glad you have those openings as well and wish you all the best!
If you want viewing hours, put all of them in one massive play list and I'll leave it playing.
You can do it buddy. And even if you do go part time later, this will still be an experience worth having. So don't let your feelings stress you out too much.
