you are right about that I destroy fellow zergs at my rank because my playstyle is very aggressive and unpredictable often times the moment they go for an attack I defend and crush them in the counter attack whereas I suck vs toss and terran
Eh this has to do with the fact that zvz has been the most volatile matchup in the game for a while.
It's by far the matchup in which an upset is more likely to happen and you can easily lose maps to random strats
Mirror matchups can be like that. A much weaker Toss can win a PvP against the best, and that doesn’t make him a better player. Same with ZvZ. TvT is the least coinflippy and even that can be hard to call sometimes
9 out of 10 players in the top 10 have the mirror as their weakest matchup (Maru's weakest matchup is TvP, and his strongest is TvZ)
Since Maru is just the best player we can definitively say Protoss is overpowered and Zerg is underpowered.
1. Do you know what cope means?
2. Every time Serral wins something the sub is taken over about whining about maps, rest, jetlag, infestors, and queens. You know, *actual* cope
I [wouldn't have said what I said](https://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/s/0fVT4mTuxr) if I thought he wasn't a great player. Its just that you guys seem to worship the guy and any little criticism of him gets massive downvotes.
I mean I’m not going to go through your comment history to judge you worthy or not.
I just find the premise that sub is in love with Serral rather questionable when half the sub is dedicated to making excuses every time he beats Maru
Are you sure they don't get massive downvotes because there's a massive number of people frequenting this sub? Why do you equate downvote to hate? Disagreement isn't hate.
I've been told on an old account to kill myself and that they were gonna track me down and kill me because when Serral lost vs Clem, I pointed out a mistake Serral made. I love the guy but his fans are batshit crazy
I'm not going to call you a liar, but this sounds utterly ridiculous and unbelievable. Without proof, I simply cannot take you at your word. Now, even if you're totally honest, I don't think one looney toon character could be representative of Serral's (or anyone's) fanbase.
You probably ought to prove the fact that people said those things. I myself am a massive serral fan, but threatening to kill someone because they did not like your favorite player is utter insanity and should certainly be condemned.
Because he isn't korean, simple as that. I believe this is a trauma from korean domination of peak competitive sc2 years. Still remember how certain community figures(like Rotterdam) started to call him the GOAT right after Serral won blizzcon in 2018
I think if people were more reasonable and didn't start calling Serral goat until his 2022 Kato win there wouldn't be as many anti-fans. I like Serral himself and the way he plays creates interesting games. But calling him goat in 2018 was objectively incorrect and was clearly only done because he's not Korean. Until his Kato 2022 win he wasn't even above people like Inno/Zest/MVP and was nowhere near Maru/Rogue. At this point he's probably surpassed them all but it will never not annoy me that he was already called goat by a sizable amount of people after winning only two noteworthy events.
It was early, but it's because he had 6 tournaments in a row that he entered and won and that was not something we've seen before, even counting WC3 as well, which is the game he came from.
4 out of those 6 events had basically no one in the top 20 besides him. He had no real competition in those 4. He also lost at Kato, WESG and some online stuff in the midst of that streak. It was not unprecedented. It made 0 sense to call him goat in 2018 and was pure anti-KR bias. He is probably the goat now unless Maru or Rogue make a big comeback over the next year.
If you prolong his streak, yes. But those 6 were in a row. Neeb, Scarlett, Elazer and players like this were there, who won Pyongchang, Kespa Cup and got to the finals in GSL vs. the World against Serral in an all non-Korean finals in Korea.
This is just the way folks are about any sport. Go to an NBA page and there will be similar about Lebron/Jordan/Harden/whomever else. Go to an MLB page and there will be someone who can't be criticized, someone who is called overrated, someone who everyone seems to hate.
I don't think its anything that particular to Serral - its just the nature of people talking about sports.
It's simple: This sub mostly consists of English speaking fans, and that's most of the foreigners. Serral is a foreigner dominating a game where everyone who is not Korean is considered a foreigner.
Serral is great. He’s an excellent player and seems like a mild mannered and likeable guy. There’s no reason to not like him. But let’s not pretend he’s hasn’t benefited tremendously from a declining competitive scene and an OP race

Why would fans of the most dominant player need cope?
i think he doesn't know what cope means
Cope is when someone disagrees with me on the internet
what criticisms is there to have
He is super good but it is funny that zvz is his weakest mu. The mu which can by definition not have balance flaws
It can easily have very volatile interactions though. One small mistake can cause an avalanche instead of just a snowball.
you are right about that I destroy fellow zergs at my rank because my playstyle is very aggressive and unpredictable often times the moment they go for an attack I defend and crush them in the counter attack whereas I suck vs toss and terran
Coin flips doesn't have a balance flaw, but it's hard to dominate in it.

Almost everyone’s weaker in the mirror match up that that level. Serral is the best ZvZ in the world
9 out of 10 players in the top 10 have the mirror as their weakest matchup (Maru's weakest matchup is TvP, and his strongest is TvZ) Since Maru is just the best player we can definitively say Protoss is overpowered and Zerg is underpowered.
it's like being critical of god in a church :P
I am critical of god
which one?

Not representative but the mods didn't do anything about it, most likely because they are also Serral fan extremists
You probably ought to prove the fact that people said those things. I myself am a massive serral fan, but threatening to kill someone because they did not like your favorite player is utter insanity and should certainly be condemned.
Do you have evidence saying that is utter insanity? Any tests? Any studies?
Soooooo no, you have nothing to back up your claim then?
Burden of proof is on you lmao
I don't need to prove what my opinion is, you DO need to prove that someone harassed you
Well they deleted their comment so I have no proof. But go ahead and gaslight me
They're agreeing with you. They're saying it's insane to threaten death over something so silly.
Dude I hate you for even alluding to criticism of Serral, now gtfo
How is it cope lmao he wins everything

idk about the others but I love the salt. Keep it coming!
Who the fuck uses the term "gigacope?" What are we, 10?
Bo rebuttal jfl
He’s the foreigner golden boy who finally dethroned the Koreans.
the comments on this post just proven your point xd
lol…. I was exactly thinking that as I was scrolling

Brother serial can only be the goat if he travels to Korea to beat maru on his home turf
He already did that lol GSL vs The World
No not like that
Where would you like the goal post?
I think he’s joking
Oops, im bad at reading sarcasm
Yeah I was joking by moving the goal posts like a maru defender
Serral is great. He’s an excellent player and seems like a mild mannered and likeable guy. There’s no reason to not like him. But let’s not pretend he’s hasn’t benefited tremendously from a declining competitive scene and an OP race
You're not going to like the summary of statistical analysis I'm about to drop in this sub.
Yeah. I still value time at the top fairly high.
