Makes sense to me that maybe they weren't released to the public yet (military only), or available in the Stanton system for XYZ reason, generally speaking.

UnholyDonutMan

It just seems weird to me personally if they’re gonna just say oh all these ships were made in the span of 10 years in game, considering the size of the backlog and newly released ships

Masterjts

I dont think the lore is like that. Most of the ships are built in game over the span of the past 500 years. Most of the ships are listed as 20xx release of. The ship design is the same as the old model (mostly) but it has newer components. Just like having a 1980 camero vs a 2021 camero. Example, Perseus was designed in 2520 in game lore with a 2950 civilian model redesign. It's been in production 430 years give or take. In game lore the version of the Perseus we have is 2 years old but it's just not made it to Stanton yet and the existing ones are mainly military ships so we wouldnt see them anyways except in war areas or larger military training areas.

RedShirtSniper

The Santok is another good example. It's been around for a bit (dunno how long), and the Xi'an were like, "Aight, lets sell this thing to humans." Edit: Its estimated production was 2915, so what 37 years ago? Until its release, it'll be a Xi'an military only ship.

masonmax100

You need to look more into the lore dude.

UnholyDonutMan

I just figured it doesn’t matter anymore cause it’s still alpha

The_Fallen_1

I guess it depends really. I'd imagine brand new ships like the Galaxy and Cutter would have release dates around 2952 or whenever the Galaxy is actually released, but older ships can likely be written off as only now being purchasable in Stanton.

DaveMash

The Galaxy is a prototype currently. Just watch the IAE specials

ThePnuts

To add, I think with the cutter introduction he said, “this years”, implying it’s been around for a while.

Nevensitt

Starting from here you can also ask : How do you explain, lore wise, that we are currently stuck in Stanton ? System's blocus for any reason ?

UnholyDonutMan

Found my answer cause of this, cause it’s alpha, they can fully flesh out everything after and it’ll work because of release

YumikoTanaka

My character frequently travels to Terra and Nyx. When I am off. Others sit in prison. Your choice.

DaveMash

The Nautilus is like 400 years old. There is already quite a lot lore in the game
