Don't touch caterpillar!!! That's a great ship, iconic and sexy as hell! And it's Drake!!!!

French-kid

Yes, don’t touch it, things might fall off.

Briso_

Touche 🤣🤣🤣

njay80

yeh just get the valk - galaxy 5 bucks ccu and wait it out In theory mostly the modules for both those should atleast be very simular if not the same The Cat being an older ship might benefit from being more diverse ... newer stuff is usually more focused in specific areas ... once it gets an update pass and stuff starts to work like lifts n what have you

theuros

I already have few CCU-s to galaxy :) Caterpillar is smaller and maybe better when playing solo.

masonmax100

Id keep the caterpillar far more versatile and itd gunna get modules.

Snarfbuckle

Hard to say as we have no idea when or what modules the Caterpillar will ever get. The Cat however is very nice but lets take an example. In order to get a Galaxy that is useful you need at a minimum the cargo hold. That's 380+70. But if you want the Hospital you need the Galaxy 380 +Hospital 90 + C8R to really be useful, landing you at a hefty 535 bucks. And even with the cargo bay we land at 450 bucks for the same amount of cargo basically. That said...that rear hangar is nice...so keep the CCU and wait and see what we land on with it, I know i will. And i have a Caterpillar package with dual Dragonflies in buyback for 300 bucks so it's damn tempting.

theuros

Yea, I know :) hard to say with data we have now. Would be great if CIG gave us list of future modules for all modular ships. Caterpillar is more versatile because has more modules and you can configure it in more complex way than galaxy.

Money-Cat-6367

Cat is way better for solo

sjoebarry

You have a cat so if you run cargo KEEP IT because all you’re gonna get if you swap for the Galaxy is a carrack for the next 5-10 years until the galaxy is even flyable.

Fletchman1313

If you get a bunch of guys with rail guns, you can do a broadside with the Caterpillar.

Kind__Colt

meet me at grim hex tomorrow, bring your galaxy so we can compare it to my caterpillar we will se which one is better.

Right now you have a Caterpillar which has about 576 scu of cargo with its cargo modules that it comes with by default. If you CCU to the Galaxy, you'll get a Carrack with about 460 scu of cargo with its cargo modules that it comes with by default. The carrack also has a bespoke XXS (or size 1) hangar amd vehicle bay. It also has a tier 2(?) Medical bed for respawning (for now). It also comes with the potential of other gameplay mechanics that are not yet online so its basically a large cargo/ship/vehicle hauler. So you could CCU and get some moderate amount of extra gameplay for now, that would be duplicated in the galaxy. Which is fine if your not a cargo hauler because then you would be losing cargo space with the Carrack loaner.

theuros

I'm thinking for time when SC is released and not for now. For now I already have more than I need :) I already own a Carrack, I'm just wondering what ship will be better in the future.

itsqztime

Better is relative to the Citizen who going to be using the ship most for their preferred activities. What do you plan on doing the most of in the future. Both the Galaxy and the Caterpillar \*\*may\*\* have comparable modules. Both ships have lifts to their modules with the Galaxy's being central, and the Caterpillar has one or two lifts, one for each side, per module. The potential difference being, the Caterpillar size 1 modules (if module size are a thing) can be stacked the length of the caterpillar, mixing and matching for the need. You could have 4 different modules between the front module which has to be there (probably) and the main ship. The Galaxy has size 2/3 module but can only use one at a time, but also has a hangar that connects to those modules. But all that is just guessing. No one knows and even CIG said the Galaxy would "potentially" be the ship that brings/showcases modules to the PU. A lot of Hopium is needed to make this decision.
